Late night pizza craving are a necessity as a 20-something year old in New York City and this restaurant delivers. Here is what I love: – many pizza options and open late at night – delivery via Seamless is always quick (30 minutes or less) – the mozzarella sticks are yummy, filling, and worth a try – the desserts are really delicious (try the carrot cake!) – the prices are far cheaper in comparison to other Gramercy places I happily welcome Lunetta as an addition to the neighborhood.
Came here about 2 weeks ago with a bunch of former coworkers. We had done quite some imbibing without any real dinner and being that we were ending at Plug Uglie's across the street, this seemed like a the perfect spot to grab some grub.
Pizza here for starters is rather pricey. It's like Upper East Side prices – the pizza quality was surprisingly pretty good. I had a plain slice with just cheese, bought my friend a slice as well and then consumed another fancier slice with like baked ziti on it along with some fresh mozzarella. I remember feeling like it was the most amazing pizza ever – but I'm pretty sure that was the the alchy part of my brain & stomach that was just really excited to finally get some nourishment.
Would I come back here again? Sure. If I'm having a few drinks in the neighborhood, but not just to get pizza. Definitely a lot of other places in NY that are superior and less than $4-6 per slice.
I was torn between 3 and 4 stars, but if prices were more Murray Hill and less like Central Park tourist rates I'd go higher. 3 stars.
Decent pizza at a decent price. Decent selection and decent service. It's everything a three star place should be.
If you want pizza quickly and are walking by, it's quick and good. You won't be awed or impressed but you won't be disappointed unless your a huge pizza snob.
Things I probably shouldn't have done in no direct order:
Gotten drunk (schwasted) across the street on an empty stomach with my friend's former coworkers.
Wander into this pizza place. It's a trap!
Order more than one $5-6 ridiculously over-priced slice of pizza.
Used their sketchy looking bathroom.
Alright, I will cut them some slack. Their pizza wasn't bad. It was edible. It was actually pretty good. I got both the slice with the rigatoni noodles and ricotta and mozz cheese draped all over it as well as the chicken/bacon/ranch. The pasta one and I had a moment together as I remembered that I had given up cheese and that rule was no longer established in my diet for the night. We were one together. It may have been the beer and whiskey talking but it was a decent slice. The pasta wasn't hard and crusty like a lot of places tend to dry it out when it's on top of a slice. But I can't justify charging so much for a regular run of the mill pizza shop. They had also ran out of plain cheese slices so there was nothing else available under $5-6. Though, those elusive plain cheese slices made an appearance at some point at the bar I was at and they cost $4.50 and taste like 99cent fresh. There was also nothing else open at midnight in this stretch of neighborhood unless I really wanted to make sacrifices and go to McDonalds.
Moral of the story? If you are drunk and ravenous and want to pretend that you didn't just spend $15 on pizza here because you bought your starving friend pizza as well, you should go here. Elsewise, save your money, you tourist you, and go find something better.
I live down the street from Lunetta and this storefront was vacant for about a year before I discovered it turned into a pizza joint. Wasn't too thrilled considering the amount of pizza places we have in the hood already but gave it a try New Years Eve after a late night out. They charged me $4.50 a slice (more than advertised) for the same quality you can get at one of those $.99 cent fresh pizza places all over the city. So if you want cheap, decent pizza to absorb all the alcohol you consumed, skip this place and go to one of those instead. If you want quality pizza for a couple extra bucks, go to Posto on 2nd ave or Joe's on 14th st.
Great for really late night delivery, their BBQ chicken and Margharita pizzas were delicious. Not a fan of the white pizza and felt like it was on the expensive side.
Delicious, inexpensive pizza and quick service. It's the perfect place for a late night slice as their hours are almost 24/7. As a college student in the area, it is my new go-to pizza place. The plain cheese is very good as well as the veggie slice which is LOADED.
