L’industrie Pizzeria

“I'm more of a white pizza kind of gal so I had the fig and cheese, and the caramelized onions and brie, and I highly recommend both.”

“Loved the sprig of fresh basil on top of the regular slice, and I look forward to trying their more complex pies in the future.”

“The fig and goat slice was very good – bacon was thick cut chunks with a sweet, flavor rich fig jam balanced by the tanginess of the goat cheese.”

    Four Stars

This small pizzeria has soul. The two people behind the counter were friendly and passionate. They serve whole pies and slices as well as red and white pizza. I opted for two slices of red. One with Bacon and one with Artichoke ($6.5). The crust was very thin, crunchy, and without much of chew. It had a heavy flour taste with little char but overall, I enjoyed it (but I didn't finish the naked crust). The sauce was a little to thin for my taste. There was a base layer of cheese but then they added more mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh basil. The toppings covers the entire slice (no skimping here). The bacon was like pancetta with plenty of fat and salt. The artichoke was chopped and had a nice consistency.  It was quick, delicious and reasonably price meal of artisan pizza.

I came pretty close to closing time which may be the reason for the dryness of the slice. I will return earlier next time.

  2. I am bumping this up to 5 stars.

I have been here a few times since I wrote my first review and the pizza has gotten better and more consistent. Gone is the overly done crust and the overzealous oil.

A new note is that you can get any topping you want on the slices and they top them in-front of you and throw them in the oven. Try the caramelized onions on a white slice, or some artichoke and prosciutto on a red. Very, very good.

Everything else I said holds true – this is an awesome slice at a near unbeatable price.

  3. The only thing I don't like about this place is that I didn't have the chance-or stomach- to try every single pizza on their menu!

But I did stop in for a quick lunch because this is another place I'd been too lazy to walk to from S 4th/Bedford (and yes, I can feel you judging me through the computer).

Anyway, I could kick myself for not having come here sooner. Believe ALL the hype about this place. You start out here with your basic white or red slice and dress it up with a TON of bomb gourmet ingredients, but even the plain slices are scores above average.

The crust is thin and has a nice crunch to it with a great char, and toppings include but are not limited to:

    figs
    goat cheese
    fresh shaved parmesan
    ricotta
    prosciutto di parma

I could literally go on forever. There are a ton of specialty pies as well and everything is made with fresh ingredients. The owner I met was very friendly, and although you can only fit about 8-10 people sitting in there on stools, you can always take your slices/pies to go. This is a refreshing pizza place to have in the neighborhood and I look forward to eating many future pies here.

Only down sides are that they don't deliver (yet) and don't have enough seating room.

I don't know what else to say besides, thank you and I'll be back! Hopefully next time with a bigger group and/or appetite so that I can really taste the deliciousness they're serving up.

  4. So he's not Italian but that small detail doesn't stop this Frenchman from spinning out some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. On my way to get some banh mi, I espied this on my Yelp app and my stomach reflexively expanded. This pizza's crust crackles delicately when you bite into it, the fresh tasting sauce delightfully spiced with herbs and a touch of tangy sweetness that I love and with a perfect cheese to sauce ratio. Yelpers were right–the caramelized onion is one of the best toppings so far. You can get a plain slice or dress it up with numerous toppings. I'd love to go with a small group one day and  sample different toppings. My pizza belly instinctively tells me they' d all be good. This is pizza made with love and meant to be eaten by those who love and know pizza.

L' Industrie is a small place, with a room for 12-13 people seated. There is one table with four chairs and two taller butcher block type tables with high chairs and a counter facing the street with a few stools. It was immaculate when I visited. With typical French flair, the tiny tables when I went were decorated with sprigs of sea moss in small vases, which lent a graceful sweetness to the place. This is no divey pizzeria but rather has the feel of a pizza café. I spoke to the owner, who didn't speak English well but obviously knows his pizza.

A welcome addition to the nabe and one I'd visit again.

  5. Solid pizza. It's nice that they have so many topping options. And really fancy untypical topping options as well i.e. Portobello mushrooms, Gorgonzola cheese, etc. The prices are very reasonable as well. The only problem I have with this pizza joint is that I feel like the regular slice has no soul. Crust was way too hard for my liking. I couldn't eat it. Perhaps the way to go with this place is by ordering a pie that way it's fresh.

I will give L'industrie another shot and this time I will order a pie.

  6. Pretty decent pizza in Brooklyn. Cute little family-owned store. Not a ton of seating if you want to stay and eat your food here, so just be aware of that…particularly if you're with a group of people.

I'm a pretty plain-as-they-got-it kinda guy when it comes to pizza. Definitely don't need a lot of ingredients included – if I wanted all that I would've ordered a salad (). So with that, I typically either get pepperoni or simply plain cheese. On this occasion, I went with plain cheese. Two slices, to be precise.

The slices were tasty, for sure, but definitely not the "New York" pizza I was craving on this afternoon. I prefer more sauce than cheese on my pizza, and the opposite was the case here. Not a big deal by any means. Additionally, the crust was fairly thin and a little hard. But I've certainly had worse. (Apparently as if often the case here on Yelp, I had a very different experience from those who rated it five stars.)

I didn't really take a look at the menu, to be honest, so can't speak to the variety of both pizza pies and other dishes L'industrie Pizzeria offers. But what I had was fair enough. So that's where the three stars comes in.
