Delicious cuisine, light Italian fare or crispy flavorful pizza; you can't go wrong with any of those choices.
Savino's is spacious airy and comfortable but you still find yourself surrounded by the tempting wafting aroma of the delicious dishes anywhere you are in the place.
In particular I recommend the calamari frutti, which was as tender as any I've ever tried.
Mangia!
I went with a friend after a movie. The food was very good-the restaurant is divided in half-one side a pizzeria and the other side a restaurant. I had penne alla vodka which was very good; a generous portion. The other thing that made the experience memorable [in addition to the food] was the efficiency of our waiter, Corey.
The food here is delicious. A bit pricey but worth every cent. My favorite dish is the rigatoni fungi. The sauce is amazing. The hot antipasto is also really good. But the best part is their complimentary bread. It is to die for. Delivery takes quite a while but definitely worth the wait.
The wife went here last week with a friend and came home raving about it, so naturally I was itching to dig in. Fortunately, friends invited us over for dinner last night (and insisted on buying, Grazie=)) so I was very happy.
I was even happier when we picked up the food. This is the old Elegante, although there was nothing Elegant about Elegante, Santorini's definitely opened it up, cleaned it up, and is doing it right. We didn't get any dinners, but we did get a pie with some toppings (which were excellent, and in abundance), Calamari (which for take out was also very good, and the sauce they served with it was actually amazing, I loved it) and a salad.
I also have to highlight that the meatball on the pizza was actually delicious, I was impressed.
I can't speak for the wife, but she raved about her meal when she went, and I have a few other friends who can't stop talking about the place, so based on my take-out experience and armed with the chatter…I can't wait to go back!!!
Best Grandma pie west of Dimaggio's in Hicksville. Very nicely done. Place has a bar area too, which is nice.
SaVino's…former location of good old Elegante (which was booted from the HS corner to across the street.)
Have checked in three times, so I am obviously, a fan. Service is great in the dining area. There is a bar (actually a decent sized one) BUT no liquor is served. Strictly beer and wine. No skin off my knee personally, but could get in the way of my top shelf friends…
I chose this place for my birthday dinner after I tasted the Italian fare over the summer.
I have a big family and we like to eat…rest…then eat more! We ordered the fried calamari (fritti)and baked clams. It was delicious. After all the app-delving, I needed a classic din din. I ordered the chicken parm hero on my bday. It was amazing! My fam was more adventurous and hungry than I was. Let's just say everyone had a full belly and leftovers…
Absolutely love this local restaurant.
Though a three star rating is right for our delivery experience, I suspect dining in would be noticeably better.
We had a pizza with half pepperoni and half eggplant. The eggplant didn't seem to have a lot of flavor, but the pepperoni was quite good. On balance, the pizza was solid.
More interesting was the calamari arrabbiata. The sauce was very good and the calamri had good flavor. Maybe the best part of the dish was the super tasty peppers cooked in it. We found that some of the breading had become a bit soggy and separated from the calamari – but I'm hopeful that this wouldn't have been the case had we eaten in instead of gotten delivery.
This place was surprisingly good — and is a whole lot bigger inside than you think.
One side is a pizzeria that is geared more toward take-out orders or a quick slice before heading to the train.
The other side is a full blown restaurant, with waiter service, tables, and a full bar nestled in the far back corner. I never would have known the bar even existed, because it's tucked away so well.
It ended up being pasta night, so it was a great deal for me. For $11.95, I got a small caesar salad and HUGE portion of penne a la vodka. The bread basket was generous as well. The only less than stellar part was that the wine I ordered was $9 a glass. Seemed a little steep, especially since I didn't see any other cheaper options, except for a glass that cost $8. The place is considered a wine bar as well, so I'd love to see better wine specials!
