I came here with a huge group of 20 – they were easily accommodating of everything!
Service is slightly slow, but they are all extremely sweet and nice. Very good with trying to recommend something for you and always works to make sure you enjoy your time.
The food is ok though – nothing fantastic. I was a bit disappointed by the paella ( I LOVE paella) but it was ok. Good selection of wines available. They do have limited options for seafood though ( hard especially if you are solely vegetarian.)
The paella marinera ($23.95) and shrimp with white wine and garlic ($18.95) were excellent. The pork & clams ($16.95) fell short of 5 stars because the membrane had not been removed from the cubed pork. This laziness requires diners to chew – a lot – or try surgically removing it with a fairly dull knife. The pitchers of sangria were expensive at $18.95 a go.
Service started out OK, but our waiter spent a lot more time with two larger parties and a table of VIPs and disappeared for long periods. He asked how our food was after we were finished. Thanks for the concern. I returned the favor by cutting his tip by 5 percent to 15 percent.
The room is very, very loud probably because of all the hard surfaces, including a tile floor. This amplified the cackling of several women at a nearby table almost to the point of a maddening din.
I doubt we'll be back. There are too many other Spanish/Portugese restaurant choices in and around Kearny, Harrison and Ironbound.

Went once years ago and wasn't impressed. Went again recently for a surprise birthday party and was totally impressed. New, clean, fresh, vibrant – from dining room to the bathroom (bonus for funky faucets that I never saw before). They rock a good sangria and the best garlic shrimp in the area (I know those are fighting words to the surrounding towns' restaurants but it's true).
As someone else mentioned in their review – the pork and clams was excellent except for sloppy prep on the pork and serving it with too much fat and veins still attached.
Days later and I'm still rocking garlic breath that could kill a vampire.
Since I was a little boy, my parents would take us into the Ironbound section of Newark to dine at some of the best restaurants my little mind could remember.
Flavors unlike anything I had ever tasted before. My mouth actually starts to water as I remember the juicy cuts of meat, giant rice dishes in iron pots, rich garlic sauces, crispy sausage, and the hand cut potato chips that never seemed to end.
Pin-Nic Bar & Restaurant brings all these memories back with each bite.
The churrasco skirt steak was seasoned to perfection and fork tender. The large portion was enough for my family of 7 to all get a nice piece. High recommend!
The paella rice is so tasty I couldn't stop helping myself, but the real highlight of the meal were the clams Portuguese style. A basket of bread and a heaping pot of the clams cooked in a rich garlic red sauce will have you planning your next visit. Not to mention the cuts of chorizo that are hidden deep inside the sauce. After the first order, we decided to double dip and get a second.
The sangria here was also very excellent. Red and White both tasty.
Red was less sweet, if you have a preference.
