“The Poppa's Pride is one of the best whiskey cocktails I've had and they make it nice and strong.”
“The aesthetic of the bar is great (I am dying that the patio is so beautiful but it's so cold outside now–can it be summer already??)”
“It was a cold night, so the backyard was empty, but it had a ton of places to sit, and I'm excited to go back in the summer.”

They have a nice outdoor patio area. Unfortunately, it's also where everyone decides they're going to suck down a carton of cigarettes because oh god I'm so angsty and the poetry of our generation (aka anything by Mark Mothersbaugh and Craig Bartlett) doesn't capture my complex emotions anymore, man. So prepare to suck on some second hand smoke while you enjoy your local $8 cider.
Drinks are average price. TV's inside. Can get crowded and bar is narrow so if you want some personal space this isn't the best spot.
A rat scurried by the outdoor area. It's NY so whatever, but, like, set a trap?
On any other day this is a 3 star bar, but, like, I kind of appreciated the complete lack of response from any patron regarding said mouse. These are the type of people I would like to be around even if they all seemed like miserable people during any other moment, ever.
I don't know why I'm not going more often to this place. It's next to my house and this bar is pretty cool. Only had drink but the food smell really good. I tried the modelo with the spicy sauce. Not convince with that thing. But whatever, place is intimate. Good for dates or just to hang out with some friends.
Although I pass this place all the time, I never thought to stop in. It's much bigger than it appears from the outside, complete with a cute garden in the back.
It's usually busy and it took a few minutes to get the bartenders attention on a Friday afternoon towards the tail-end of happy hour. A particular cocktail appealed to me, but I asked for it to be made with gin instead of rum. The bartender was hesitant but was willing to give it a try. The drink was great – probably should have been made with gin to begin with. She seemed pleased that I liked the drink and I'm glad she took a shot at making it with the liquor of my choice.
Overall, a cute place with a solid cocktail list and competent bartenders. I would come back again and hopefully secure a seat out back. The food also looked really good.
This spot is hard to describe. The decor says dive bar but it is a semi-serious cocktail bar. The bartender this afternoon "Chickpea" was nice enough and knew how to make a cocktail.
Not a big place so the conversation at the bar was great. I would stop by again even tho it is out of the way for me.
Prices are reasonable. No beer on tap that I noticed. Decor is decidedly rustic but in a nice way. Background music was the bartender's iPhone playlist so it may vary shift to shift.
Does anyone else think that the name is odd – when I first saw it I guessed that it was a Thai restaurant.
It's a bar, you get drinks, people are down to earth, not too much hipster vibe going on but not boring either. A place for grown up minds (of course those grown ups only, that aren't boring and don't have smelly feet). You also get food (mac & cheese eg, so maybe this is also a place for hungry grown ups.
Funky bar in Brooklyn. I'd say their best feature aside from the drinks is the back patio. Great for a summer day as it holds quite a large number of people. The rest of the bar is small(ish) and quaint.
There are half a dozen seats at the bar, a few 4 tops in a dining area and then bench/window seats that face the street.
The food is rad with offerings like deviled duck eggs, kale salad, jamon serrano, and a "q ban" sandwich. Simple, fresh stuff, basically.
I think if you think of enjoying drinking at a public house or traditional, old school style bar, Ba'sik is made for you. It's a "back to basics" type spot that's got just enough charm that it's cozy, but not too much that it feels forced.
In keeping with that theme the drinks are superb. It's just an all around fun spot. When I was here there were TVs on and music playing but I believe they might also have live bands performing from time to time.
The only funny quirk I noticed was that the bathrooms are not created equal. They're not gendered so it doesn't matter, but one is teeny tiny and the other is oddly spacious. Oh the perks of old buildings! If you end up in the smaller bathroom, just wait longer next time and use the other one. Both are clean and totally operable, one's just noticeably more comfy.
Came here for brunch yesterday. I've passed by this place countless times, but never thought of going in. Sometimes, on my bimonthly trek to and from C-Town, I'll hear live music coming out of here.
Their brunch menu is kind of limited. I decided to get their kale breakfast scramble, which was good, but very small. My boyfriend got the chicken salad sandwich and a mimosa, the latter being pretty large and cheap (only $5 for a tumbler full of mimosa!)
After reading reviews about this place, it would probably be a better place to visit at night and during the summer, as they have a pool outdoors (apparently). Would like to visit later on this summer.
Great neighborhood bar. Casual, relaxed vibe. Fantastic music. Friendly bartender.
Drinks are solid. Poppa's Pride – yea, that one is something to be proud of. Strong, with perfect amount of mint and bitters. Cheers, they know what they are doing!
Bar snacks are simple, and simply awesome. Gazpacho was refreshing and Serrano ham was yuuuuumy.
Loved reclaimed architectural salvage bar detailing. There are tables and outdoor seating on backyard as well.
Simply put – great spot for after work drinks and chat.
