Great salad bar with lots of options.
They make the salad for you but you can build your own or choose a signature salad.
I got the Santa Fe salad with the sweet and smokey chipotle vinaigrette. It's a medium heat. Under $10 and pretty filling. I like that they also chop it all up.
The one star is for the nice staff in this location. That's it. Ordered online hoping I can minimize my wait. One guy who walked in with me (who did not order online) left the store with his salad before I even get my online order. And I don't understand how a place called Chop't and the salad was not chopped at all. The lettuce was soggy and they are very cheap with their toppings. I have like 5 tiny cubes of chicken in my entire salad! The cafe downstairs from my office and Just Salad do a much better job. I will not return again.
Make your own salad, is really nice and it allows you to decide how much you want to eat. They have many options and you will always find a line there. However, the line does indeed move quickly and within 10 minutes your out.
The price is a bit higher then the other places nearby, but with that kind of turnover, you are sure to have fresh vegetables and toppings.
Depending on the time of day lines are intimidating. I've been deterred for a while. However, this week I took the plunge and waited in the long, loopy line around 2:10?Took probably 13 minutes tops… They clearly have the lunch line handled now. They've hired a person to direct you to where you need to go.
Plus, yesterday I went around 1:30 and there was no line…. People eat a late lunch 'round these parts.
The salads themselves are pretty great when I'm craving the crunch and munch of greens. I always buy the ones already crafted on the menu because they come with more ingredients for the money as opposed to you making your own.
Some good classic salads:
Chop't Cobb
Po' boy (but it ain't the healthiest, obviously)
Palm beach with chicken
Dressings:
Greek yogurt tzatziki
Mexican goddess
They have these new hot salad/bowl things that are good/filling also! Love the hot/cold combo… Makes salads more luxurious.
I mean.. It's expensive, but so are basically all of the other salad chain giants in NYC. If I truly wanted to save money/be healthier, I would get my act together, make lunch and not be eating out in the first place.
This is my favorite spot for salad. I can eat here 5 days a week. My favorite salad to get is the Mexican Ceasar salad. You can also ask for it in a wrap and its more filling. Prices aren't bad for the sizes you receive. If you are in the mood for a great nutritious fresh salad, I highly recommend this spot.
Chop't is a salad chain in New York City that specializes in you guessed it – deliciously chopped salads. I think it totally puts a twist on traditional salads like the Greek and Caesar salads, while still allowing customers to customize their choices and opt for different things depending on what they like.
I definitely like Chop't, every time I go the staff is always super nice to me and it's really warming to get out of the office and get service like that. The way it works is that you get on the line (yes, it can be long sometimes, but you can definitely see why, am I right?), you are warmly greeted by one of the staff to where to go choose your greens and toppings, then told where to go to get your salad chopped and dressed. I definitely recommend their Kebab Cobb with falafel – chop't falafel is really god! The price may seem a bit steep for lunch (most options are over $10), but the ingredients are really fresh and delicious. Plus, they always pack the salad to the top and bread is typically included.
I've had a couple of Chopt salads before, but this was the first time I've gone inside a store to order. Like pretty much every other lunch joint in Midtown, it's quite a bit overpriced – my salad with only 3 extra additions into the salad cost me $14, which is just a stupid amount to pay for salad, even if it's a decent amount. Chopt does one size for all, so you get a pretty large bowl of salad, and the toppings are pretty diverse, if nothing too exciting. The main thing I do like is the variety of greens (I like my superfood kale), and the fact that there's a very thorough job done of chopping up the salad and mixing in the salad dressing. That said, I do wish that there were some fat-free dressing options – I didn't see any listed, so I just went with the one with lowest calories, figuring there wasn't enough calories to have fat in it. Checking out is pretty straightforward – just give your paper receipt, and they'll tally up the total and ring you up.
There's not anything too remarkable Chopt, but if you do want a lunch place that focuses mainly on salads, as opposed to other places (like Hale & Hearty, Metro, etc.) that offer salads along with a bunch of other options, this is a decent stop. However, it is a decent amount of salad, and you're not going to walk out of the restaurant feeling like it's cheap (or a good deal) unless you stick with just the free toppings.
It flew under the radar for a bit, but even with a long line, this Chop't moves quickly. Impeccably clean, friendly service, and delicious salads make this a frequent lunch stop. I recommend the Spicy Greek salad with a Diet Cream Soda.
