  1. This place is amazing. I used to go with my family for special occasions, but now that I moved 5 minutes away I have been there twice in the last two weeks. I have never had a bad dish there. All of the meals come with amazing side dishes of homemade potato chips, yellow saffron rice, and delicious grilled vegetables. The bread and olives that they give you to start are great, too. You can't go wrong with any of the fish or veal options. They have great appetizer and entree specials, and the service is fantastic. The waiter remembered exactly what I ordered the last time I was there, and he gives great recommendations. The portions are really big with all of the sides so don't go crazy ordering appetizers unless you want leftovers. Also, there's additional parking across the street if their lot is full. It's a little pricey, and it's not a BYOB, but it's worth it!

  2. Decent Portuguese food at a reasonable price. I usually order to go then wind up having some sangria at the bar while I wait. Then its hard to leave.

  3. I cannot believe I've lived in Wayne for over 15 years and have never been here.  I've driven past it so many times!

Finally tried it and I will be back!!

Great sangria, great garlic shrimp appetizer, awesome paella, and a perfectly cooked filet mignon.  What else you ask?

How about great service, deliciously tasty sides, warm crusty bread and close to home?

Sign me up, I'll be back again soon.  Why trudge to Jersey City for Portuguese when you have a great place right in Wayne?

  4. This absolutely wonderful restaurant combines outstanding food with phenomenal service. Now our go to place for any special occasion, we draw from their excellent specials, as well as their dependably good regular menu.

My personal favorites are their blue point oysters on the half she'll and their fish specials, always absolutely fresh.

All meals are served with their signature crusty bread, fluffy rice, fresh chips, and fresh veggies.

I also recommend their paella or mariscada, which can and should be shared.

Accompany their delicious food with a great Caipirinha cocktail, and you've got a winner.

  5. I'm having dinner deja vu! Didn't I just write a few days ago that Spanish/Portuguese places are all kind of the same?  This one proves my theory.  Came here with a party of about 25 for a little celebration and service was wonderful, sangria delicious, appetizers hit the spot after freezing our asses off in the lakefront gazebo just prior to sitting down in this warm dining room.

Dinner was a choice of Flintstones-worthy steak, seafood paella or some kind of chicken dish (I hear "chicken" and I tune out).  I went with the paella and it was good except for the sad piece of dried out lobster tail.  I felt bad for the little guy.  It seemed wasteful to kill him and then not even make him edible.  What was the point?  Taking a star off for lack of respect to the mighty lobster and what the hell, a couple of shrimp.

Quick note on the decor (if you pay attention to that sort of thing): it is stuck in 1987! Teal chairs people! Teal!  I know this place has to make some serious coin since there was no lack of hungry bodies lining the walls waiting for an available table!  I would take some of that profit and invest in a much needed facelift.

  6. Love that I can drive 5 minutes and get fabulous Portuguese food instead of going to Newark. A quick bite with Sandra cause neither one of us wanted to cook. Lol. We shared a seafood salad-stuffed avocado and garlic chicken. Fantastic. The chicken has an awesome flavor and falls off the bone. It comes with rice and the fried potato chips everyone loves. The seafood salad is good but I have had better and the avocado was full of crabmeat and was excellent. Great service and good prices. What more could you ask for.

  7. Love this place! Mussel appetizer was great and paella was delicious. They have such big portions so you really get a good bang for your buck. Sangria is also very tasty!

  8. Are here for the first time Sunday for a bday party. I have wanted to try it for years and was so glad I finally did! First let me say we were a party if 20. The waiter was amazing! He was took very good care of us. Next the food. I don't even know where to start. We did apps family style which included chorizo, garlic shrimp, fried calamari and lobster franchaise. The garlic shrimp were delicious and so garlicky, calamari was cooked just right and the lobster dish was to die for. I believe that was a special request and not on the menu. I ordered the paella as my meal. It was filled with lobster, clams, mussels and shrimp. It was a huge portion also. I have enough for 2 more meals. My husband had a chicken, shrimp and artichoke dish which he also loved. They also put rice, veggies and chips on the table for all to share. Great to have such a delicious Portuguese restaurant so close to me. Can't wait to go back again!!
