  1. 4 stars for a decent salad under $10 in midtown. A bit over $8 if you're thrifty. Service has been fine when I have visited this location. And fresh veggies in midtown don't come cheap…

  2. This is my go to spot as it is close to my job. I hadn't gone in a while and decided to return on what would be considered a slow day. There was only 1 employee taking salad orders and putting the ingredients on the bowl. 1 other employee was chopping the salads and making them and also taking payment. The line started getting long and there was one girl who was on break apparently and she was just there seeing how overwhelmed her coworkers were, but just texting away on her phone and checking instagram.

She didn't seem at all concerned about jumping in and helping out her 2 team members. My salad took much longer than it should have and I think this is a normal occurrence here based on other reviewers. I do love Just Salad and their food but the service here was lacking on my visit.

  3. At first I was not impressed. I thought, and to an extent, still think,Just Salad is a poor man's Chop't. I view Just Salad kind of like I view my fancy android phone. It does everything the Iphone 5 does and more, but it lacks some of the the subtle refinements and sexiness.

Pros:   1)  This location is great. The area is kinda dumpy with limited healthy options for food.  So this location of Just Salad is perfect.  2) The salads are huge and the value is very good compared to many other places. 3)  They reward repeat business and at the same time encourage people to return by giving loyalty incentives…ex. discount card and reusable bowl (2 free toppings if you bring the bowl back). Everyone at work walks around with these colorful gruel like bowls….strange, but fucking brilliant free advertising. 4) The Thai peanut dressing is really good, as is the chipotle  vinaigrette. 5) The staff is very friendly.

Cons:  1)The regular grilled chicken is very bland. 2)Some of the staff do not have a firm grip on what goes in what salads and for some reason they don't chop the salads as well as the people at Chop't. 3) I have seen multiple employees at this location wearing their plastic gloves and then touching/typing on their electronic devices. This is really nasty.

I have not tried the yogurt yet. Overall, I'm a fan and glad they are opening new locations. The concept is great. I suspect with time, they will work out some of the small issues I have mentioned. There is no reason why this place can't be just as good, if not better, than Chop't and at the same time provide better value.

I think this must be a great business. I'm sure the markup on a salad is HUGE. They basically turn lettuce into cash.

  4. Go to the side where they're not chopping to order, then either build your own or pick one of the designed salads. I got the Immunity Bowl: Salmon, Squash,  Cranberries,  and some other stuff. For sauce the Moroccan Tahini. It's alright,  low calories.  Originally picked the Lemon vinegrette. Overall, well priced compared to Fresh & Co which costs $20 for a salad and drink; here the same was about $11.

  5. I got a Thai crunch wrap here and to my my surprise, it was pretty good. I would have thought it was simply salad dressed in a coat of carbohydrate flour. I added some spicy thai peanut dressing which I it's say was not spicy at all. My problem here was the huge wait to finally get to check out. It felt like it was 25 min just waiting to get to the other stations.

  6. I always see their lines extend out the doors and never understood WHY–its JUST SALAD. But I wandered in when my lunch option (job's cafeteria) closed and decided to give them a try. With a coworker's suggestion, I ordered Talum and sans the jicama, I wasn't displeased. It was quite filling which I never thought a 'simple' salad would do for me. The Talam salad is dressed with a smoked, spicy jalapeno sauce which surprisingly complmented the complexity of pumpkin seeds, double avocado, jicama, tomatoes (substituted green apples) and the leafy greens. So Just Salad, you won me with this selection….and your bread is pretty darn good too.

  7. The smoothie I got from here is the worst I have ever had. Its basically so watered down without much ingredients. Their blender machine is a cheap one too. Don't ever order smoothie from here!

  8. Still a loyal fan of Chop't.. but since this location closes at a later time, I decided to give it a shot.

Ingredients are all okay, meats didn't look that fresh and the options are a bit weird to me (jerk chicken?).

My biggest complaint actually is the service. Everyone creating my salad seemed to hate their job and were pretty rude. Granted it was a Friday night and maybe they didn't want to be there..  They were impatient, made no effort to smile, and was annoyed with me when I was trying to decide what to put in my salad. MEH.

Don't normally write reviews for these types of chain places but I would not come back.
