  1. Duoro is a nice little treasure waiting to be discovered.  We walked past it for almost a year and then decided to go in for a meal.  Once we finally ventured down inside, we found outstanding Portugese food.  It was cooked to perfection and nicely presented.  The only put off was having Portugese potatoes (their version of French fries) served in a paper tray.

The service is excellent; the bartender was knowledgable and engaging.  Great food.  Good acoustics.  Lovely decorating.  Five stars for all of the above

They also have a small room that accommodates 8 for wine tasting or a very private dinner.  That room is a wine cellar.  Very cool.

  2. I was told that the restaurant just opened in November and its a sister restaurant to Douro just across the road.
The decor is simple modern in gray colors. It's very clean. The restaurant itself is pretty small, about 10-15 tables.
The service was amazing that I guess you would expect at the restaurant with prices this high on the menu. Our server was very knowledge and attentive. He was watching our table all the time and was there even before we needed him.
It was also nice for them to take our coats. And bring them back when we were done.
Now the food. I had Verdura salad for appetizer. It's just greens salad with the dressing. The dressing had a little too much vinegar to my taste. Otherwise, the salad was good – what would you expect from a basic vegetable salad?
I tried my husbands burrata appetizer – the cheese was super soft and delicious. I also tried my friends sardines – they were very smelly and fishy – yes, I know it was sardines and you need to expect it.
I got Dorado fish for entree. It was beautifully plated on the top on cauliflower purée and shiitake mushrooms. The mushrooms were a little over dried. The purée was good – a little on a sweet side. The fish itself was soft and flaky. I wish it had a little more flavor to it. But it was delicious especially in combination with the sides.
My husbands lamb looked like tuna. He said it tasted good, but not the best lamb he ever tried.
Others at our table ordered duck, and it looked like risotto to me. I was considering getting duck and I'm glad I didn't.
Overall, high quality restaurant with great service and good food.  The food is lacking a little personality or wow! factor. But it's high quality food that is well done and nicely plated.

  3. This is a rather interesting Portugese establishment. It has the interior decorating of a trendy urban wine bar, yet it serves Portugese food – very interesting. Okay first off, don't even try to go to this place without realizing that their food comes in small portions (Large is more like medium and medium is more like small when you are ordering for groups) and that it is more 3 dollar signs pricey (I am thinking CT prices not TN where I currently live – I promise).

The food is rather good though! Everything from the Paelle to fritters to the tacos were absolutely delicious and well presented. Just remember to do things family style (as in pass it around) because everyone will want a bit taste of everything.

Ultimately, good experience (and rather memorable), but nothing that really wowed me oddities and all.

  4. I love when Portuguese food is done right! They have an amazing selection of grilled entrees and you can not go wrong with any of the starters.

I tend to order a decent amount of take out from here, but when I eat in, I usually reach for the paella and grilled seafood options.

This place is great to bring a group and is easy to find on Greenwich Ave.
