  1. There is nothing extremely special about this place, but if you are craving a healthy salad in the FiDi area after a workout, this is a solid option. I made a herbed chicken salad with kale, avocado and cucumbers. The salad itself tasted fine, but the portions were on the smaller end, and I don't appreciate that meat and grain add-on cost extra on top of the $7.50 charged for veggies and dressing. I probably will come again if I want something quick and healthy, but if I had more time, I would just make the same version of the salad at home for a much lower price.

  2. I get my lunch here at least once a week. It's my favorite spot between Wall Street and the Seaport area. The place is clean, the food is delicious and healthy.

The line is usually long, but they move fast. Don't get scared.

You can pick between a hot or a cold bowl. I usually get the hot one. You can pick 1 rice (basmati, quinoa, or something else), 1 main veggie/salad, 4 toppings, and 1 meat. I like basmati with spinach, curry and grilled chicken.

All servers snd cooking staff are always really nice. Best option for a healthy delicious filling lunch!

  3. I love this place. This is one of my go-to places for lunch. The staff is friendly, the protein options are delicious and well-cooked and the produce is fresh and tasty.

A salad bowl with a protein runs around $14, which is pricey, but the quality of the meat is fantastic and can't be beat at a cheaper place.

  4. Having to scour the Financial District to find a good, solid lunch spot is not an easy task.  That being said, there are a few good candidates, Roast Kitchen being one of them.  I work on Wall Street, so Roast is one of my weekly or bi-weekly spots I go to.

Roast is a solid 4-stars in an area filled with mediocre restaurants.  The problem with FiDi is that there are number of good, basic 3-star options for all the people who work down here during the day, and a ton of crappy 1- and 2-star places, but very little 4-star and basically no 5-star places down here.

I usually get one of two things.  Both are HOT Bowls:

    1. Ginger Bowl with Chicken or Pork- comes with basmati rice, kale, corn, scallions, sesame seeds, bean sprouts and a slightly spicy ginger sauce.

    2. Moroccan Bowl with Chicken or Beef- comes with farro, spinach, eggplant, tomato, onion, peppers, and a smoky Moroccan sauce (kind of a sweet bbq sauce, sort of, but better).

Both bowls are served sauteed, and are healthy, filling and have excellent flavor.  Slightly on the more expensive side for lunch at $12.85, but I think it's worth it.

So if you're looking for something tasty and healthy, this is the perfect spot.  I have no clue what it would be like at night or on the weekend, but as there's very little traffic (mainly tourists) and as it's dead in FiDi at those times, I'd proceed with caution.  During the week, you're good to go!

  5. Although it is pricey ($12-15 for a bowl, depending on how many protein or extra add-ins you select), Roast Kitchen is delicious and a perfect lunch option! I love that you can customize a hot or cold bowl, or choose from the pre-made suggestions. The ingredients are fresh and healthy, and the fact that they cook the hot bowls in front of you is a huge plus. There is usually a long line during the lunch rush, but it moves quickly and efficiently. The proteins are delicious and there's a huge variety (herb chicken, spicy chicken, pork meatballs, steak, etc) but my favorite right now is probably the spicy chicken. The portions are not skimpy at all and most, if not all, the bowls come with a nice balance of veggies and grains (such as rice or quinoa).

Roast Kitchen also has a juice/smoothie bar. Will definitely be a frequent visitor here!

  6. This was my favorite healthy fast food I had in NYC. Lots of good options, line moved quickly, and my chicken quinoa bowl was awesome. I recommend highly.

  7. My go-to order is the chorizo hot bowl (spinach and rice) with steak ~ $13. My second choice is the red curry hot bowl with herb chicken.

The place is clean and has an earthy feel because of the wooden restaurant interior.

I like that this place doesn't close until 10pm and is open on the weekends.

  8. This is a nice lunch addition to the financial district. Food has great flavor, staff is nice, and there is a seating area which is a plus. My favorite go to is the Moroccan with the herb roasted chicken. I would stay clear of the spicy chicken as I do not feel the flavor is as good. Another warning is the prices may be a bit too high. You will be looking to spend about 12-13$ a plate.
