  1. 5 stars because it's so hard to find food around the Columbus Circle area that is not Thai food or a decent sandwich that is not overpriced and unique.

I researched for a place to get some lunch that's affordable and good.  I found an article online and it listed this place.  I never knew that it existed.

I got the Milano and I loved it.  Proscuitto, cheese, sundried tomatoes, and arugula wedged in between crunchy bread.  It was not carb heavy.  It was so good.  I'll definitely go back and try the other sandwiches.

  2. I really wanted to love this place after seeing so many positive reviews, and seeing that this place looked like a more authentic Italian deli.

I got the combo deal with half a Milano sandwich and half of the Piemonte salad. Price wise it was a pretty good deal at around $9 for a relatively filling lunch. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the bread used for the sandwiches, but felt the sandwiches to be ultra thin in that there were minimal fillings. As a result the sandwiches were a little bland, we kind of expected there to be at least more a salt flavor from the prosciutto and cheese, but alas it was more bread than anything else. The salad however seemed very fresh, simple and tasty.

I'll probably be back if I want a quick meal to grab and go, but will definitely choose a different sandwich next time that looks like it has more fillings.

  3. Pros:
    * Conveniently located in between Hell's Kitchen and Columbus Circle, Sfilatino Italian Gourmet serves authentic and classic Italian dishes from paninis, salads and cold plates of meats/cheeses.
    * The sandwiches here are marvelous- fresh ingredients between panini bread that is moist inside and slightly crispy/toasted on the outside. We loved our Potenza (ham, prosciutto crudo, mozzarella cheese, tomato, artichokes sauce) and Como (prosciutto crudo, brie cheese, baby arugula, heart of palm). Although the sandwiches range between $9.95-13.95 (which a little steep) and take a bit of preparation time (there was 1 prep guy behind the counter), the freshness of the ingredients make it worthwhile.

  4. Freshest ingredients, new & flavorful sandwiches, wonderful salads..Sfilatino is great! Prompt delivery. Great find!!

  5. I wished I was more hungry when I went here.

    FOOD QUALITY:
I ordered the Milano and to my surprise I got a giant sandwich. At first, it looks like a very delicate sandwich composed of fresh bread, fresh arugula, refreshing sun-dried tomatoes, light but intensely flavorful prosciutto. It's not until you take your first bite that it's a dense sandwich full of layers: hearty crust with soft dough interior that's naturally buttered with the fatty and salty prosciutto, then brought to life with the acidity of the deep tomatoes and the baby arugula. Just one bite and I went from being full already to being stuffed.

    ENVIRONMENT:
There's very limited seating so good luck on getting a spot during busy hours; otherwise it's perfectly fine to take to go. They cleaned the tables when I went, so they do make an effort.

Overall, if I'm back in New York and craving for some good sandwiches, this is the place I'd recommend to go to.

  6. Small deli that's pretty easy to miss on a street full of tiny specialty shops. Saturday morning and barely anyone inside with a large array of sandwich options and some baked goods up front.

Yelp check-in offers a free large coffee, so that was a plus since most of the sandwiches are on the expensive side. Settled on the Genova sandwich ($10) – thin slices of soppressata, balanced out with a medium strength cheese and just the right amount of veggies. The spread they used inside wasn't enough to complement the ingredients, but the sandwich is well put together otherwise.

Service here is efficient, although not many other customers inside. You can probably do better value-wise – yet if you want to relax with a coffee and sandwich without being bothered, then this is a good spot. Also, big props for offering the entire menu all day.

  7. I wish I found this place sooner!  Trolling through Yelp for a new place to get lunch from, I came across Sfilatino.  I should've walked there and ordered, but I was lazy and decided to get delivery instead.

I had the Firenze – bresaola, shaved grana padano cheese, baby arugula and mushrooms on whole wheat.  The bread is phenomenal, I can only imagine how the regular bread is.  I asked for a side of the sfilatino sauce, but they forgot it.. so the sandwich was a little dry.

Their salads and other sandwiches look amazing, so I will definitely be stopping in to grab takeout one day.  Prices are reasonable and the portions are just right.

  8. Cute spot near Columbus Circle area.  It's a small place but when I came here during a weekday evening for a quick bite there were no lines.  Almost all the sandwiches are pretty good – especially anything with prosciutto, baby arugula, and mushrooms.  The bread is tasty and the servers are nice.
