Love Stumptown coffee. Cute decor coffee shop in Flushing. They serve Stumptown and the cold brew is great.
Stopped by for a mid afternoon pick me up and treat but was disappointed to see the display case completely empty! So we only ordered drinks. I ordered the honey latte and hubby got the mocha. The barista was uber cool though and took requests for the foam art. Honey latte was nothing spectacular because I couldn't taste any honey flavor. Mocha was good though. It's just too bad there were no pastries when we were there. That would've earned them a higher star rating.
Friend brought me here for coffee after dinner the other day. She said it's better than Starbucks cuz it's roomy and comfy. She's absolutely right. It's a pretty dope place. Pretty hip for Flushing lol. I'm glad it's there. It's definitely better than going to the other options for coffee where it'll be crazy crowded and noisy. The kid at the register was running a one boy show and was pretty efficient I must say. He was taking and filling orders and was still friendly doing it. Can't say the same for other establishments. Props to him for that. I ordered an Americano and it was solid. Definitely will be back.
I spend my whole afternoon at Presso Coffee to check out the Black Label Donuts Summer Debut Popup event. Richard (owner and creator of these magnificent donuts) was showcasing his summery flavors of Peach Melba and Plum Sake Custard. I tried the Plum Sake one and mmmm "mama like" with the sugar coated outside of it…finger licking goodness lol! I wasn't able to try the Peach one because of the crushed almonds topped on it. A donut was my first meal of the day hehe.
This is my second time at Presso Coffee and I was starting to crave for something savory. Quickly glanced at the Sandwiches section of the menu. I ordered a Presso Fried Chicken Sandwich and it comes with a salad on the side…woah baby I made such an amazing choice! The cashier handed me a number 1 for dining in so they can bring out the food to your table. I was hesitant about the dressing and wanted to make sure no nuts were contained in it…*pheww* just sesame!
Presso Coffee is quite spacious and the comfortable seats like the ones that I was seating with friends 🙂
When Presso first opened, I was excited that third-wave coffee was finally making its way to Flushing! No longer would I have to trek all the way to Manhattan to enjoy a piping hot cup of Stumptown coffee. Had I written a review back then, it would have surely been at least a 4-star vignette. However, the quality of the place has, in my opinion, changed a lot since then in undesirable ways.
I went to Presso again about two weeks ago and was surprised to see improperly labeled food items sitting in the display case (i.e., a plate of croissants was labeled as "cookies", and the actual cookies in question were labeled as another kind of cookie, so I wasn't too sure what the true prices of the food items were). The amount of coffee I received with my purchase has also decreased. I used to order cold brews that were filled to the brim, but I received a 3/4-filled cup (which was possibly in an even smaller size) instead. Maybe I went on an off day, but it surely wasn't how I remembered it.
Rounding up from a 2.5 star rating, I can see Presso as a great place to do work and meet friends, which is what justifies my 3-star rating. It also has a central location that isn't far from the subway station which plays into its convenience as a meeting place.
2.5 stars rounded to 3 for yelps sake. An okay place to chat with friends or study, there is wifi and charging outlets available. The environment is really nice. This cafe is located across from where Flushing Mall used to be. This cafe is also very spacious with lots of seating, no need to worry about not finding seats.
I had the grilled cheese sandwich with a salad, it was okay but it was so rich from the cheese I wish there was tomato soup to come with it. Salad came with a side of honey mustard (?) dressing.
Also tried the green tea crepe cake…those reviews that say this is better than Lady M's mille crepe are such liars! Had high expectations for this initially. This didn't even come close to Lady M's…the texture and the taste was okay but Lady M was far superior. The cake is not worth the price. Also if you order this don't say mille crepe (even though that's what it's called)…the workers may give you a weird look.
Had the Chai Latte and requested latte art but was told this type of latte don't come with latte art. So I was a bit disappointed but the barista still tried to make it for me which was much appreciated, but the latte was so weak and diluted…it basically tasted like warm milk with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Rooibos tea, first time trying this type of tea. I know it's supposed to be an african based (?) tea but it tastes like the complementary black/brown tea you get at Chinese restaurants. Decent tea but didn't strike me as anything special.
Maybe I didn't choose the right things to try out but I do like the ambiance (and they offer wifi). Will drop by again and try something else.
I've been here 3 times and each time was a vastly different experience. My first time here I had a cup of diluted Americano that tasted like a drop of coffee mixed with water. My second time here the barista was nice enough too offer me an extra shot in my Americano and that hit the spot. I sat in the back where it was nice and quiet, and was able to be very productive. My third time here I had a regular black coffee and it was very on point. This time I sat in the front on one of their comfy chairs and fell asleep every 5 minutes. Lesson learned.
I never had any of their desserts but I gotta say, the pastries don't look all too appealing. My only complain is their cash/credit card policy. No credit cards for purchases under $10 (how does one spend $10 on coffee) and no bills over $50. Way to limit the way I choose to pay in both aspects.
Oh man, a comfy expensive coffee spot in Flushing. Came here for a Meet & Greet with the YouTubers, Double Chen. The coffee was yummy and strong without being bitter at all. It was delicious. It's a little pricey but they gotta pay for the "free" wifi and comfy chairs. I would totally come back especially because they had almond milk.
