I would really urge everyone to avoid this place altogether. A crappy sammy can easily be $10 and a salad – $12. But what trumps all of this …the service. There's always a Russian-accented woman rushing you through the conveyor belt that is lunchtime. Look, I GET IT LADY. It's Midtown, it's busy but many other people do it with class and less rudeness. I've been in the service industry and I totally get it but steer clear of this joint. It's a rip off and the product is not worth the buck. Oh and the breakfast… YIKES. it comes with a full side of bland. Enjoy.
Salad was delicious but pricey. I came here on a lunch break and decided to get the "build your own salad". I got on the line to start my build up, first you have a choice to pick one type of vegetables from the selection display, (I think it was 6 or more choices), then came the toppings, there are varies topping from fruits, meats, and cheese. I picked the grilled Chicken, avocado, tuna fish(2 options, dried tuna or tuna with celery) ,grilled shrimp, and cucumbers. After that my semi- ready salad is handed to a worker who does the chopping and mixing and in between, he will asked you for your dressing preferences. I got the thousand island dressing and it perfect for my salad. So I got on the line to pay for meal i was shocked of how pricey it was. I paid $18 for a salad which i believe it was pricey. The bowl portion was quite small, even though granted I did get chicken, tuna, and shrimp on one salad. Yes I'm a big CARNIVORE. I guess that's the price you pay for the food in midtown.
If you're in a hurry – this place is definitely a great place to grab a quick bite. I did a create your own salad, but I was pretty disappointed in my ratio of leaves to veggies/protein. There definitely was plenty of leaves to feel like I was eating grass as opposed to a salad.
The chimichurri dressing is solid, add some lime juice to it as well for a nice tangy kick.
Grabbed some lunch here and wasn't disappointed. Speedy service, fresh food & it tasted great! The staff were friendly and efficient. Also, when sitting outside on the terrace this is a great spot to see all the Fox News staff coming and going!
I had Falafel salad and it made me sad all afternoon. The salad had a strong kale taste and was really spicy (I think it's because of the sriracha). My salad did have falafel, chickpeas, tomatoes and cucumbers, but the kale and the sriracha flavors overpowered everything else, even the falafel tasted like kale…
If you want something healthy for lunch, and still have mood for your afternoon work, don't get the Falafel salad!
Love their chopped salad and soup. They have a good 8-10 selection of soups everyday, making choices can be tough. I had the lobster bisque this past week, love it, just wish a little more chunks of lobster in it. The chopped salad selections are pretty good as well. You can build your own salad or get one of the many creative creations….Only issue is, it's pretty pricy (salad could be up to $10-14bucks, soup is around 7/8bucks with tax)
This place should actually be called "(Not So) Fresh & Co" as the bread in the sandwiches always seems to taste a few days old. Another more appropriate name would be "Super Expensive For What It Is & Co" as prices are some of the highest I've come across in Midtown for a (very average) sandwich/deli shop.
There is always a line but that's because most of the customers work in the building and don't have the time or inclination to leave at lunchtime and go elsewhere.
I only go there in an emergency if I really only do have 10 minutes to grab a bite, and when I do I get the soup which is usually decent although I assume it contains liquid gold due to the price. If you want a topping on your soup, that is of course extra (free everywhere else in the city).
If you're in the area and need a place ASAP, Num Pang is around the corner with much better food options that won't hurt your wallet as much.
Alright. After a few years of frequenting this Fresh & Co. I can confidently say it is NOT worth it.
And by "it" I mean the exorbitant price tag. Now look, anyone who's read my reviews knows I will pay stupid big money for good food. Problem is, Fresh & Co. just isn't tasty enough to warrant such prices.
Today, I paid 17 dollars for a kale salad and small cup of soup. That, friends, is insane… even in New York. You can order the same soup and salad a block away at Dig Inn or Pret a Manger for a fraction of the price.
So do that instead. I certainly will be.
