  1. A real hidden gem. Definitely worth the trip so far down Smith street. The staff is awesome. Super friendly and helpful. I had the Smith Street Cheese steak!! It was really delicious. Also the home made chips are excellent.

  2. Sometimes you have to go a little bit off the beaten path for a delicious sandwich, which is what HBH supplies. They've been running this promotion all summer, where they'll give you a free can of beer with the purchase of a delicious sandwich. Super cool. Nothing like an ice cold Founders All Day IPA to go with a delicious sandwich.

As for the delicious sandwiches themselves, I went with the short rib pastrami, which came on pretzel bread and had this wonderful horseradish mustard, which provided a nice kick. Generous meat portions, covered in gooey melted swiss. Hungry yet?

Tried the delicious Action Jackson as well, which was turkey with gruyere and caramolized onions. Also on pretzel bread. That one was also pretty delicious.

The delicious sandwiches come with a side of chips, which I wish I had known before ordering the cheese tots. SO. MUCH. CHEESE. Tots were good, but couldn't finish them.

After we finished, the guy (owner? manager? head dude in charge?) gave us some free delicious cookies fresh out of the oven. They were regular and white chocolate chip red velvet cookies. And guess what? They were delicious.

All in all, I can't recommend HBH enough. Please go support them!

Also, their bathroom is entirely pig-themed. You just have to go see it.

Did I mention the sandwiches were delicious?

  3. This place is awesome. they were featured at my job yesterday and the food is AMAZING! by far the best I have had in the office.

I had the mac n cheese with kale ceaser salad which was very good and my co-worker had the pulled, she says it was good, especially the salsa on dressing. She did say the meet could have used more spice and that it could used some more jalapeno

I would definitely love to check out the physical location.

  4. Marble rye bread didn't seem very fresh. Very hard bread. I got the Reuben and felt very disappointed after I paid 16 dollars for a sandwich that wasn't that good. The inside had changed immensely. No heat running in the midst of winter. I'm not going to eat at a place that's super cold. The place seemed dirty. I think this was my last visit.

  5. HBH and I have a complicated relationship.

I've gone here several times, and every time I love whatever sandwich I have, I tell myself I've going to go back more often, and every time I forget until something (usually a someone) beckons me back. And then I kick myself for not coming sooner and that I'll definitely be better next time. I'm such a tease.

Consistently delicious sandwiches, and they don't seem to have a single bad (or even mediocre) one on the menu. Also, the last time I was here, they were offering a free beer with  the purchase of a sandwich. As if you needed more incentive.

For my most recent visit, I had the Action Jackson, which was smoked turkey, gruyere cheese, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, garlic aioli and arugula on a pretzel roll. Sounds amazing, right? It was. Also ordered the tater tots with cheese, because I'm a glutton for punishment. They were as yummy and unhealthy as you'd expect.

Props to the guy behind the counter who gave us free red velvet chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven. They were fantastic.

I really need to come back more often.

  6. Second time ordering delivery from HBH, and it was every bit as good as the last time I did.  I ordered their BLT lunch special and a small kale caesar salad.  Though I thought there was a little too much bread on the BLT, the ingredients were vibrant and delicious.  Also, I ordered via Seamless at around 12pm and my food around within 30 minutes… again!

  7. Came here with a few friends, we all got something different so we could try something different. I got the short rib pastrami banh mi. My sandwich was ok but really nothing special. And for the price it really lacked meat. My friend got the pulled pork and it was pretty yummy. The sandwiches came with house made chips which were great. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The music playing was awesome and the decor was interesting. Overall this place was good. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back but if I'm around this neighborhood I'd prob get the pulled pork sandwich.

  8. Been going here since day one but this place is dead to me.  Their absolute best sandwich was the Gobbler which was an incredibly well balanced and truly unique combination of flavors (which I felt was best sandwich in Brooklyn). One of the key components was the always fresh raisin bread.  It sounds weird but it is what made the sandwich.  A few weeks ago the owner told us he was out of raisin and substituted a pretzel roll.  It was terrible but we loved this place and figured it wasn't his fault.

Today we ordered our usual Gobbler and were shocked to get home and discover it was on a terrible pretzel roll. I immediately called the store to tell them it was a mistake but they told me it was a permanent change.

Now I am stuck with a mediocre ordinary  $12 turkey sandwich on a dry pretzel roll. To add insult to injury sandwich is smaller than it is impossible to eat without all the contents squeezing out the back.

If you are going to change your most highly rated sandwich change the name and don't just change the ingredients without telling people. This is not the Gobbler.

    Sigh.
