My fiancé and I are big fans of this Thai restaurant. It is a hidden gem in Sunnyside. We ordered the coconut soup, calamari, chicken pad see ew, beef noodle soup, and an ice cream with sweet rice. The coconut soup had a good kick to it and the calamari was nice and crispy. My fiancé enjoyed the pad see ew. However, he noticed the beef noodle soup had pork rinds and pork meatballs and he does not consume pork products. This was not in the dish's description. The waitress was nice enough to replace the pork meatballs with beef meatballs. We will definitely come here again!
Ps. The lunch specials are a steal!!!
Pretty great spot here. The 7 dollar lunch specials (sit in and delivery) until 3:30pm have generous portions and delicious taste.
I tried the Green curry, the Drunken noodles, and the Roti Canai appetizer and can vouch for all three.
If bang for the buck is what you're after, the lunch special curries definitely take the cake.
The lunch includes a few items you can pick from. The spring rolls are the best, followed by the dumplings. The salad was surprisingly good (comes with a similar ginger sauce Japanese places have), but the soup was a bit bland.
I also love that if you ask for SPICY, it definitely delivers. Just be aware that its the type that seems mild at first and slowly creeps on you.
Will order from here again.
Newly opened Thai restaurant in the heart of Sunnyside. I called ahead to make sure they have other dishes that doesn't contain any peanuts. We were so lucky to find parking right in front of the restaurant. It's a small setting with a few tables but good thing there are cushioned seats. The server was going to seat us in a two seater which was a tight space to the family that was already dining there so I suggested the corner booth table for us. We flipped through the menu and glanced quickly as we were starving after a long day at the beach earlier.
Drink:
me: Thai Iced Tea: very yummy and sweet
Appetizer (shared):
Crispy Calamari with Sweet Chili Sauce (Small) absolutely no peanuts thank you very much
Crispy Mummy Shrimp with Sweet Chili Sauce (Small) – this one was pretty unique with the delicious crispy noodles mummified the shrimp lol…definitely a must try
Entree:
Andrea G: Pad SEE-EW with Shrimp – I usually go for the Pad SEE-EW but went with something different
me: Drunken Noodle with Crispy Pork Belly…my dish took a bit to come to our table as the server was explaining that the pork belly has to be cut up and fried then sautéed into the noodles. Mmmmm I really love the pork belly in my noodle dish a lot but too bad I was super stuffed from the appetizers.
Overall it was a very yummy spot so please give it a try if you are a Thai food lover =P
Visited Thai Diva Cuisine to try their $7 lunch special and I wasn't disappointed. You definitely can't find this price in Manhattan, let alone the portions they serve!
For the appetizer, I decided to try their spring rolls and soup. Both were very tasty and again, generous portions (though my boyfriend got the fried wontons and it was tiny. So maybe don't opt for that). For the entree, I got the pad see-ew. This dish is always my go-to in thai restaurants and I must say, this has got to be one of my favorites. Not too salty and not too oily – just the right amount of everything.
Given the fact that they are relatively new, the service can be a little slow because they're still getting into the groove of things. There were only 2 groups including us when we visited but we waited a significant amount of time. Our server mentioned that they were getting a lot of delivery orders that day, so it's understandable. And the high volume of delivery orders only goes to show how good their food is (:
