  1. Check in on Yelp and get the buy one egg and get another egg free offer !!

BEST Bahn Mi place in Queens ever! All their sandwiches are so delicious, there is no way you cannot like it. AND the workers are so polite and generous 🙂 The place is small and it gets crowded during lunch time. Parking can get really hectic in the area; I usually park two to three blocks away and walk over which honestly is not bad at all. You need to walk off these awesome bahn mi sandwiches and fries afterward. Believe me, you'll want to stuff your face because it's amazing.

I usually get the Joju Deluxe and/or Lemongrass Chicken, thai ice tea, and the loaded bahn mi fries. ALL OF THESE ARE A MUST TRY! Their sandwiches is simply great. MUST ADD AN EGG IN YOUR SANDWICH ALSO!! Inside the sandwiches, it usually comes with carrots, cilantros, pickled radish, and jalapenos if you want it spicy. They can accommodate to the level of spiciness you like because they have different level of spice. Pretty cool huh?!

Their loaded bahn mi fries is awesome as well. I always ask for runny eggs; they're the best. The loaded bahn mi fries has cilantro, spicy mayo, and egg. My friends ordered the kimchi fries and they were raving about how great those fries are. I'm not a big kimchi fan, so I didn't really try it. But if you are, definitely give that a try!

Overall, I really love this place. I can come back for their sandwiches every day if possible. It is super filling and inexpensive!

ANOTHER PLUS: There is no minimum charges for credit card! How awesome! My friend brought a can of soda and she was allowed to charged that with her card 😉

  2. They have delicious bahn mi here! I came for lunch, and I had the veggie ham bahn mi. I added a runny egg to both halves of my sandwich thanks to the yelp check in offer (buy one egg get one free). The sandwich was huge! I definitely could have split it between 2 meals but decided not to because it was so delicious. There was a good amount of carrot and cucumber on the sandwich, and the flavors mixed really well. I also asked for mine to be spicy, and they delivered on the promise. Prices aren't bad either. I also love that they have multiple options for vegetarians, both the veggie ham and a solely vegetables bahn mi. I'll definitely be back to try the kimchi fries which looked amazing.

  3. Usually I go to Chinatown for banh mi, so I wasn't sure what I would expect coming here but I was honestly surprised by how tasty it was when I had their joju banh mi! They have a lot of unique creations that you probably wouldn't be able to find elsewhere! The line was pretty long and I can see why it's so popular. Definitely recommended!

  4. A spin on a traditional and it's a good one!  It's rare to have something as delicious as the original to be enhanced and have a positive result. Trust me, I've seen (and tasted) some "wild" creations out there and they were just not palatable.  Anyway… back to JoJu, they are amazing. If you're in the area, grab a bahn mi or two. I can't say I'm a big fan of their drinks but I am definitely one heck of a fan of their contemporary Viet sandwiches! And as if they cannot get any better by spoiling us with yummy sammiches, they offer a loyalty card!! Aww yeah, guess who is returning to this badass joint 😀

Wish this place is bigger, and while we're at it, I wish this place was in the city. Joju is tiny so be considerate and exit the establishment once you're done eating. Also, don't be a jerk by leaving the place a mess.  I know, I know, there's no polite way in devouring a bahn mi but seriously, if you're gonna be dropping everything onto the table then at least wipe the area post-inhaling. You wouldn't want to sit in someone else's filth, right?Right. Besides, you ain't no pig 🙂

  5. The mock cha lua (Vietnamese ham) in the vegetarian hoagie tastes just like the real thing l used to eat as a kid – and I grew up on homemade Vietnamese food! Good job! Sandwich was also packed and full size – unlike that abomination at Num Pang that's bite size. Great deal; bubble tea was good, too. Would come back.

  6. 4.5 stars

Joju has pretty amazing Bahn Mi sandwiches. I come here once in awhile and have tried the lemongrass chicken and the BBQ pork. Their sandwiches are made fresh to order and I recommend you to eat the sandwiches ASAP so you can take a bite out their fresh baguette, pickled veggies, meat, and etc. Delicious! NOM NOM! 😀 BTW, I have saved half the sandwich before and ate it the next day – still tasted pretty good after warming it up.

I recently tried their Bahn Mi fries and it was probably one of the best fries that I have had in my life. The fries are really crispy and I really like their sauce that they drizzled on the fries.

Highly recommend. Cheap and delicious sandwiches.

  7. Joju is definitely my go-to for Banh Mi sandwiches and Kimchi fries.  Nothing like it anywhere else in NYC.  I would opt to give this place 5 stars, but I did encounter a tiny roach in my green apple slush on my last visit.  I know Elmhurst has a roach problem, but I would appreciate if there wasn't a bug swimming in my drink—total turn off.  I'm still a fan of Joju though, it's just that I'm gonna take a break from ordering their drinks.

I didn't want to complain since I was introducing a few friends who never had it before and didn't want to skew their impression of the place.  I ended up throwing my drink out in the end.  But since the sandwiches are reasonably priced and extremely good, I'm willing to overlook this,.

For sandwiches I would either opt for the bulgogi or lemongrass chicken banh mi.  Can't go wrong with the two.  I must admit, I favor the bulgogi because I prefer beef, but chicken is a good lighter alternative.  I really like how the pickled daikon carrot mix cuts off the "fattiness"/saltiness of the bulgogi.  The bread is quite hefty and crisp, so when you bite into the sandwich there's that delightful iconic crunch.  It can be a bit messy with the crumbs, but man it's delicious.  Also, they do add cilantro to their sandwiches, so if you are not a fan of cilantro make sure to tell them to exclude it (I don't mind it though).

The kimchi fries are phenomenal.  Best to eat when it's fresh but still pretty darn good when taking it out. I especially like to have the sunny side egg on top, cutting into that yolk and having it run all over the fries, adding extra eggy-goodness on top is the best!  The mixture of kimchi and that spicy mayo-like sauce is a wonderful combination with the cilantro and scallion mixture—-introducing a variety of tastes and textures.  Just thinking of the creaminess of the fries mixed with the runny egg yolk, slight tang and spiciness of the kimchi topped with the freshness of the scallions and cilantro is making me drool…

This place needs to open more branches!  The place is small, so it usually gets crowded and it's hard to find seats.

  8. My son and I are in Brooklyn. He looks at me and says, Defontes? I said, feel like doing the funky chicken and go to Queens for a banh mi sammy? He said, why are we driving like Miss Daisy?

We walk in to a tight space, its a small sandwich spot with maybe 10 tables along the wall. We both look at each other and noticed there are all these beautiful ladies?! Waiting in line for sandwiches no less? Trust me, growing up in Brooklyn and waiting in line for a hero, the teenage girls in that line waiting for chicken cutlet parm heroes didn't look as good and have Louis Vuitton handbags.

We're looking at the menu board, Vietnamese Spring Rolls are a must. The same with Vietnamese coffee!!! My son ordered a passion fruit slush which was also a-mazing.

We ordered two banh mi sandwiches, just the basic Banh Mi. The pork belly and runny egg option sounded good but why get into the mix the first time here? Their original Banh Mi was a home run hit. Fresh and bright with cilantro, daikon radishes and pate all on a french baguette makes the ultimate sandwich.

Just having this caliper of sandwich in Queens make me proud to be a New Yorker.

One of the best Banh Mi sammys in the 5 boroughs
