Thought I did a review of this place about a year a ago but here it goes again anyway. This is a simple, quick place to stop in the middle of time square that sells inexpensive meals. This was my second time here and it's still just ok. I've only eaten breakfast so that's the only thing I can comment on. The breakfast is made to order so obviously it's still hot. Takes just a few minutes to be made and then you move right down to the cashier to pay. It's kind of like cafeteria style. Breakfast was about $16 for 2 meals and 2 drinks. After paying you then grab a seat, eat, enjoy then leave. It's just that simple.
You can have breakfast here for less than $10. The food is okay and you get a lot for not a lot of money. it's definitely cheaper than eating at a hotel.
Good reasonable priced food. Quick and courteous service. No complaints.
This place to me was a life saver. I was running a little late to a show with a friend and needed something quick in the theatre district. I stumbled across Pax and thought it would be a perfect substitute to the pretzel and nut carts that sit outside all day. The inside was pretty packed but more organized than I thought considering its proximity to times square. I chose the chicken cibatta sandwich and my friend got the buffalo chicken wrap. The sandwich was actually pretty good, but the tomato looked and tasted lifeless. The bread was nice and crispy. I waited in line maybe 5 minutes to order, and a couple minutes more to pay. We each got a drink and a cookie and it came to about 30$. Pricey? Maybe but that's NYC for you. I got the chocolate dipped macaroon which was seriously amazing. So dense and moist and yummy. They had a lot of pizza to choose from as well as a salad bar where you can pick and choose your ingredients and have it made for you. There is something here for everyone.
Overall, it was a perfect place in a perfect location when you're short on time or need a quick bite. There was a decent amount of seating, but there is definitely the possibility of not being able to find a seat if it gets over crowded. Had this I not gone to this spot, I either would have starved throughout the show or eaten the mystery chicken kabob from the food cart.
The tuna wrap was terrible.
I had it toasted and it tasted worse.
I spent $8.35 of that wimpy wrap and I'm still hungry! In fact, I'm hangry!
I should've gotten the pizza but I thought it would be too greasy and heavy.
Other notes:
– Pricy
– plenty of seating
– next door to BB Kings
– Tuna didn't taste too fresh
Place was clean, staff was courteous, and lots of different types of food to choose from. Ended up getting a salad with cajun shrimp and lemon pepper dressing, which was good save except that the employee doused the salad with too much dressing. Plus, it was a bit on the pricier side ($10+). Would come back to try the other items like pizza and desserts!
I mean, whadda ya want or expect in TS? They're on par with the other ridiculously overpriced quick pick places in the area…and with the similar disinterested approach to service (can't necessarily blame them, as nearly everyone who lives in NYC hates being in that area).
But a wide selection of things, and they keep the place pretty clean for this area…and they offer a small discount if you work at/are rehearsing in the studios next door.
You're def better off waiting until you're out of the area, but it'll do in a pinch.
Pros: variety of foods, plain cheese pizza was very good, reasonable pricing somewhat
Cons: too crowded, small
Like any other eatery in New York City, Pax is small and crowded. Still, they offer a wide variety of menu items. I tried the plain cheese pizza and it was pretty good! The crust was nice and thin and it had just the right amount of cheese. At $3.25, it is a tad bit pricier than other NYC pizza joints but I would say it is worth is because the size of the slice is almost twice as big as regular pizza slices. They do have plenty of tables to sit but the place is packed usually, especially on weekends.
