  1. This is a popup inside of International Wings Factory from the same husband and wife team behind International Wings Factory. From Wednesday to Saturday, 11:30 AM – 5 PM, they offer this different menu of all fish-centric items, as well as some great taters tots.

For the fish, you can choose to get it as a sandwich in a brioche bun, or over an order of tater tots. Next, choose the type of fish among Tilapia, Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon, Cod, Flounder or Whiting, and finally, choose either plain, cajun, teriyaki, hot cayenne or tandoori spice for the rub.

The sandwiches are pretty large and shockingly cheap at just $6 or $7 ($7 or $8 for the tater tot option). They are fried to order and prepared fresh, so this is easily one of the best deals for one of the most satisfying and delicious lunch options in NYC.

There are plenty of great sides too, like Plain Tater Tots ($3) or the obviously better choice of Loaded Tater Tots ($6), topped with cheese, bacon, fried hot dogs and jalapeños. They also have Fish Fry Bites ($4) or another thing very rarely seen, if ever, Mac & Fish ($5), which is a solid side of mac & cheese topped with some seasoned fish bites.

It's surprising that there really aren't that many great places in the city for a fried fish sandwich (maybe just Seamore's?), but luckily Fishwiches has arrived and is doing it very well. While you're here, also make sure to try some of the excellent wings that they're known for from the regular International Wings Factory menu.

  2. I went here after finding this spot on Yelp. It is actually located within the International Wings Factory–and there is no menu posted, so you just have to ask for a paper one.

After looking it over, I decided to get the salmon with a cajun rub over tater tots.

The salmon was a decent portion and it was cooked well. I think the combination of the tater tots and fried salmon was a bit too much fried for me, but it's a cool take on fish and chips. They also served it with a chipotle mayo and tartar sauce, both of which were tasty.

Overall, pretty good value here–$9 for all of that–though I wish they served it with half tater tots and half some sort of cole slaw or veggie option. Nonetheless, the staff was super friendly and there was plenty of space to sit in the restaurant. Not a bad option if you are looking for a fried fish spot in the area.
