  1. This place is good for sweeping a woman off her feet without her realizing she's eating 3 star quality food. But i'll be nice…

My mom chose this place for dinner on my birthday because I guess she felt it was her birthday too. Once I checked in I realized I had this place bookmarked anyway so yes…let's kill two birds with one stone.

There's really not much to complain about here. Everything is good it's just that the place can be quite expensive for what it offers. I honestly feel as though you're paying for the view.

THAT BEAUTIFUL ASS VIEW AS THE SUN SETS! MAN, I COULD MARRY A MAN IF HE TOOK ME HERE AND WHISPERED SWEET NOTHINGS!

Sorry I get so sidetracked at times…

So I came here with mom dad and my brother. My mom and I shared the rum punch bowl (a lot of ice but once you shake it up you'll definitely feel the liquor) then I proceeded to have (2) dry martinis. Remember…liquor contributes to your taste buds when eating. I kept saying "this food is so good" my father had to ask me if it was my first time eating that day. Then I realized, maybe I drank too much.

    We had the following:

Fried Calamari and popcorn shrimp, which was not light on the salt but perfectly seasoned for me. Shrimp was REALLY good! Calamari? Blah, I've had better. Half dozen of oysters which was the equivalent to 6 skittles. Yes, their east coast oysters are like the size of a tic tac, don't waste your money. I had the Alaskan King Crab Roll as my entrée and honestly I can eat that over and over again.

So to sum this up…they have edible food, nice selection of drinks, very good service (forgot to mention that), and perfect views. It's all up to you to decide whether you feel like spending money for the the food or the view. Choose wisely 😉

  2. Are you a child? Perhaps a child at heart? Then you'll have a great time at Brooklyn Crab. There's only so much enjoyment that you can get out of mini-golf, but when it's free, why the hell not?

There's also other games like cornhole and tabletop shuffleboard. Basically an adult playground. But there's also a kid's playground, complete with sandbox.

Great beer selection. Haven't had their food yet, but will be making a trip back soon.

  3. A decent venue for when the weather is nice.  I would recommend just taking a cab or an Uber from Manhattan rather than bothering with the ferry.  The drinks are reasonable.  The food upstairs in the seated area was actually not bad.  I had some fresh oysters and some tasty soft shell crabs.  There unsupervised children running around which I thought was irresponsible but, of course, seems to be par for the course in Brooklyn.

  4. I like Brooklyn Crab in theory, but unfortunately the food was just eh. It's an out of the way, shanty-style eatery all the way down in Red Hook, which is probably three or four subway transfers if you don't live in Brooklyn. They have three floors, the first floor bearing cornhole, the second floor being a shaded open-air dining area, and the first floor being a completely enclosed air-conditioned sit-down area.

You get views of the Statue of Liberty, but it is not enough to compensate for the mediocre food. The oysters were small and shriveled. The shrimp was cooked to toughness. The crab wasn't even tossed in the garlic butter sauce – it was served on the side. The crab also quickly got lukewarm during the course of our eating – I really prefer seafood-in-a-bag style than this.

I feel like Brooklyn Crab would be a fun excursion if you are committed to drinking several beers while being utterly unselective about what you are eating.

  5. Was shopping at ikea and decided to visit this restaurant since it was in the area.  Pretty nice summer vibe type of restaurant.  Kind of make you feel like you are near a beach and jersey shore type of feel.  We decided to get seated upstairs where there is a little of a view of manhattan.

We ordered a clam chowder, snow crab, snow crab grilled cheese, mac and cheese and their brussels sprouts special.  Clam chowder was flavorful and had a good amount of potatoes but barely had any clam pieces.  The snow crab order came with 2 corn and a cole slaw.  A decent amount of snow crab but i feel it was pricey for the portion that was given.  The snow crab grilled cheese sounded different but not much snow crab taste.  The mac and cheese was ok and brussels sprouts was nothing special.

Overall, the food quality was mediocre and a little on the pricey side.  Service was good and friendly.  Good atmosphere and decor.

  6. Love this placeeeeee! So much fun! What a cool, interesting spot! I had a great time here. It's awesome in the summertime.

Part mini-amusement park/bar, part outdoor bar, part giant restaurant with deck, Brooklyn Crab is more than crab and unlike most places I've been. I really felt like I was in a beach town a la Ocean City, MD.

The food was good – seafood specialities such as chowders, lobster roll, raw bar etc. The drinks are definitely flowing at this place. The atmosphere is lively! The bills will run high but you're on vacation – enjoy.

The wait for a table will be long, but there is so much going on, you won't notice. Games, fun crowds, overall merriment.

I definitely recommend this place for groups, celebrations or just a fun day.

  7. Great oyster deals on Mondays and Tuesday's – $1 oysters and beer specials. The view from upstairs is pretty cool, looking over the water, you can see the Statue of Liberty from certain spots. They also have fun outdoor games and a tiki bar feel outside downstairs. Lots of outdoor seating, great selection of seafood. The crab grilled cheese is really good and I love that there is old bay on every table.

  8. So you've been on my list for a while.  The expectation was pretty high.  Many people I know drive from other boroughs to come.  The 3 stars concerned me (I trust my fellow Yelpers).  After dining I'm between a 3 and a 4.  The prices knock me back to a 3.  I'm all for paying for what I eat, but here I fear I paid more for the hype.

I went on a Tuesday night.  The parking was simple.  The bartender downstairs was super cool.  He gave great suggestions.  My friend and I liked sitting there for a bit before dinner.  We were taking the place in.  The games were fun to observe people play.  It was a laid back place with a chill, young crowd.

We eventually went upstairs and were seated right away. You sit at a picnic table-not cool for ladies wearing a dress.  I'm guessing on a busy night our picnic table would have been shared.  So glad it wasn't.  I like my space.  I was there to catch up on gossip with a gf.  Our waiter was solid.  He suggested the $1 oysters-sold.  I wish he explained the clear liquid that came with it.  We didn't know what to do with it and by the last oyster we decided to pour it on.  It added a delicious taste to the oyster!  Too bad it was our last one.  The oysters were quite small and some bites I had to pick out the shell. I wouldn't recommend nor order them again. My friend ordered crab cakes.  $38 for crab cakes? They came with a small salad.  No starch?  She liked them but I couldn't help but think how overpriced they were.  I ordered the crabs.  They came with corn.  For $49 I would at least expect potato and a side salad.  Now they were delicious.  The option of plain, Cajun or garlic butter was offered.  I asked for garlic and plain.  I was curious about the garlic.  The plain was best, but garlic was pretty good too.  I wish they had more on their menu like stuffed lobster.

Drinks will run about $10.  They have only a few speciality cocktails but they are unique.  One drink actually has a crab claw in it!  They do infuse some of their booze. They do have a decent amount of bottled craft beers.  If it's a Tuesday night Naragansett beers are $3.

Will I return? Not in a hurry.  It's probably an impressive first date spot.
