  1. I am a regular in this place, and a big fan!

I never had a problem with freshness, everything was always delicious. I have ordered a number of times for delivery as well. The prices are reasonable and the eat-in presentation is very artful. My favorite is the special Caribbean Roll. I order it every time. The lunch special is a great deal too! Sometimes the service is a tad slow, but that's not a deal breaker.

The decor is pretty cool, too!

  2. Went to check out new location. Sushi and sashimi is fresh, funky bright decor – but it's just OK, nothing outstanding.

Note: no alcohol is served here.

  3. The sushi was just a ok to me…however the service on the other hand wasn't.. I came here for dinner Instead it felt like a waste of my time… I waited about an hour to be waited on and my food to come out…. It was defiantly a waste of time should of just ate somewhere else… The food was some what over priced for mediocre food…it wasn't even that great… It was just ok…  The fish was fresh and flavorfully ….. I ordered two salads…two soups ….two rolls and a special roll…that all came out to filthy eight bucks….It was just a mini mom and pop restaurant located in Staten Island … area is small… Seatings are too close together… I dislike siting to close to random strangers…feels really uncomfortable…while I was dining here the whole time I heard every conversations from each angle… One thing is dislike is a cramped restaurant! Even the parking lot was tiny! Ughhh

  4. I've been here twice so far and had a good meal both times. The place is small, but it wasn't crowded either time, so getting a table was not an issue. On my recent visit, we tried the Dragon Balls, which is spicy kani and avocado with a spicy mayo and it was delicious! Probably my favorite dish from Cucumber. It's a serving of 3 balls and definitely filling. I've also tried the chicken pad thai, the sushi sandwich, crispy duck appetizer and pork dumplings. The crispy duck was more fatty than crispy, but tasty all the same. Their hot teas are good and served in your own personal tea kettle, but if you like iced tea, get the thai iced tea! Delicious! The parking lot is tight, so street parking is probably the way to go. This will probably become a regular take-out place for me.

  5. One of my favorite sushi places on the Island. I've been here several times for lunch and once for dinner, and it's never too packed that I can't get a table.

The menu has a good selection of entrees and great lunch specials; I usually go with the three course lunch special including two rolls, all for $7. I haven't had any house special rolls but they look great and will be sure to try them next time– though I wish more of them were raw and didn't have tempura.

Cucumber is one place where it's not a big deal to order with brown rice. They use black rice and it's great! Definitely different from other places on SI.
