  1. Toasties never disappoints and the massive tasty sandwiches are delivered with a smile.  I tried the chipotle chicken and Colby jack sub today.  Delicious!  Hot spicy chicken slathered with Colby jack cheese on a sub for under 8 bucks.  What's not to like.

  2. I went here with a co worker one morning for a breakfast sandwich. The workers making the sandwich rudely kept asking me to order while I was looking at the menu. They stood around like a group of rowdy high schoolers snickering and laughing while we were coming down to a decision on what to order. I'm not sure what was so funny but I left feeling bad from the morning start. Sandwich is mediocre. Salt and pepper was asked later on and they look beyond annoyed. Not worth it at all especially in a city full of other delis.

  3. From outside, New Toasties looks just like any other deli place in NYC and in a way it is. However, their fresh sandwiches are exceptional. I ordered their Jerk Turkey sandwich and I was really surprised. The sandwich is lightly toasted with tons of marinated jerk turkey inside with Pepper Jack cheese. It is a huge sandwich and I was really full afterwards.

They only have a few small tables and majority of people just order to go. If you are hungry, this is a good lunch spot for sandwiches.

  4. I got the Toasties – House Combo ($7.25 on Roll), grilled pastrami and corned beef with finlandia swiss cheese, coleslaw, and russian dressing. What I received was a rinky dinky and probably the smallest deli sandwiches ever with 1-2 very thin slices each of pastrami and corned beef. There was three times as much coleslaw as the meat combined. The Russian dressing was decent, not too maoey and not too much relish/horseradish. Somehow, the sandwich turned out to be a good balance of ingredients, enough so that you could taste everything from the saltiness of the pastrami, to the cheese, and the cream Russian dressing. Even the bread held up. I'd say the sandwich was very good, but for the price, Toasties is very stingy on the portion sizing and I'd take my business elsewhere. Don't believe me? Take a look at my photos.

  5. Had the house combo. Very good! Although my stomach was grumbling the rest of the day. There were so many options on the menu to choose from, it was a difficult decision! Will return for sure.

  6. That's it. I quit you Toasties.

I've had it with the employees here. The service is undoubtly one of the worst I've experienced. I gave them a shot because their sandwiches are good, but bad service trumps all.

Every time I come here and order something "complex" I get a snippy attitude EVERY time. Is it so terribly hard to add an extra slice of cheese? Substitute regular cream cheese for lowfat? Toast the sandwich that comes cold? Give me a f#cking break!

They always look at me like I have a third eyeball, pause and then questionably repeat my order back to me. I'm sorry did I just ask you to go milk the cow at a farm and make my cheese freshly processed?

I always pay for whatever is extra and always politely ask for the adjustments.

Today was my last visit when he paused after explaining that I wanted three cheeses on toast with ham. Then proceeded to stare at me like I just ordered the most random meal ever. So I asked "What's wrong? You don't make that?" He rolls his eyes and says "Yes, well I have to". "So what's the problem?" I reply to no response from him.

I should've known to do an about face from day one when I saw they used that dreaded Comic Sans as their font of choice for their logo.

Peace out Toasties! It's been real.
