  1. Didn't expect it's just an upgrade Subway… Kind of disappointed by the lack of creativity and lack of bread option.
Hot peppers are wayyy too hot! Try to avoid!
All in all, there are many more much better sandwich shops in New York. Perhaps not again. Sorry.

  2. I know it's not fancy, but Potbelly's is seriously my favorite place to grab somewhat healthy food on the run.  The sandwiches are small but filling (step up form Subway for sure), the soups/chilis are life saving on a cold winter day, and the shakes and cookies satisfy my sweet tooth cravings.

  3. This low rating is more about the service than the food.  I came here for lunch the other day.  I got the chicken and cheddar sandwich.  The sandwich was fine, no problems there.  However, the service was pretty bad.  There was only one person behind the counter when I went to order (it was just before lunch time).  She was frantically preparing a big delivery order and was basically ignoring me and the woman in front of me in line.

I waited for over 5 minutes to order with just one person ahead of me.  Then after the sandwich came out of the oven, it sat there for another few minutes while the one other employee who just arrived, got situated and helped out.  Sandwiches were flying everywhere.

Finally I got my sandwich and went to the register.  No one there.  There was one girl make a shake with her back to the register, singing and dancing to herself while making the shake.  Then, other random employees sauntered by every so often, glancing at me, but kept walking by (shake girl still making a shake).  At this point I am furious.  I just yelled out at the next person who walked by, "I want to pay".  The hapless dude poked shake girl, she jumped and turned around startled and came over and rang up me and the handful of other people that had been waiting to pay.

I will go to other Potbelly locations again, but not this one.

  4. In my imagination, I thought Potbelly would make much better sandwiches than they actually did…

In reality, it was just like Subway (the texture of the bread was exactly the same!). Except Potbelly:

    1) was a tad more fancy than Subway
    2) was a few dollars more expensive than Subway
    3) had a more limited menu than Subway.

Next time, I'll skip the Bigs and go for that $5 Foot Long.

  5. This was a very unimpressive experience. There was only one person working the counter and the food prep. The tables were dirty and moved around. It was pretty much empty. And my sandwich was just kind of 'meh'. I won't be returning.

  6. I am really not a fan, for such an awesome looking sandwich shop, and a chain, you'd expect a much much better sandwich. It's pretty plain and boring, good, but no need to rave about it. Sandwiches aren't that hard to make, and if you buy a sandwich as good or less than what you would do at home, it's a disappointment. Right? Why would you pay for a sandwich that is so down right not engaging if you can surely do better yourself? So yeah, meh. But if you check in with your yelp app, you get a free cookie, aaaaannnddd you can buy a $7 movie ticket for every sandwich you buy at this location, that's pretty awesome!

  7. I love Potbelly sandwiches and they can do no wrong in my book.  Although it is a chain restaurant I always get the same consistency every time.  The gentlemen at this location making my sandwich had a great sense of humor.  The tables are always clean and the food is always served the way it is suppose.  This location is close to Union square so it is a great place to go grab a bite after a little shopping.

  8. This place *REALLY** has 4 stars? The only reason I was impressed was because someone bought it for me. Otherwise…^shrug^

Service here was slow. Like growing roots slow. I got the chicken & cheddar w/ bacon. Everything is better with bacon, right? But this was kinda like, whatevs. But then I wish they had something like a spicy mayo or aioli or BBQ sauce as a condiment? Not even ketchup, which is a last resort. Mustard, mayo, pickles? Bleh. Seriously. What's the allure? Next time, I'll get something from the gyro cart.
