I've watched in anticipation as this little deli right next door to my apartment building came to fruition.
First, the sound of hammers and automatic saws. It was music to my ears. Then, the plastic-wrapped deli cases and ice cream freezers that sat out on the sidewalk for a couple of days. They were the most beautiful thing I've ever seen (except for my girlfriend of course!). And finally, the doors opened and the birds (or pigeons) sang their songs.
On Monday this week I ordered a hero with the usual of turkey, lettuce, cheddar cheese, and mayo on it. Cost? $4.50. Taste? Mmmm mmm good. Today I ordered another usual on wheat bread. Cost? $3.50. Taste? Oh yeah…
I'm hooked. However, during my post-workout "now I have to go to work" mood this afternoon, I was also on the hunt for a sugar free Rockstar to maintain my energy at work tonight. They didn't have it. They didn't have any sugar free energy drink (I don't like the crash of the "regular" ones) except for the Red Bull can, which was $2 for an 8 ounce, $3 for a 12 ounce, and $4 for the big one. Ouch. My guess is that as business expands, they will diversify their options. For now? This is my go to spot for deli sandwiches after my workout at the gym.
After hearing alllllllll too often about this place from Shea D. (you have no idea how many "I'm eating a delicious sandwich that only cost $4!" texts I've gotten…) I finally was able to give it a try!
Wow. $3.50 got me a huge turkey sandwich will all the fixin's I could ask for. Unlike down here in the damned West Village where A FREAKIN' SLICE OF TOMATO COSTS AN EXTRA BUCK! WANT CHEESE ON YOUR SANDWICH? YEAH THAT'S A DOLLAR TOO. Oh, you want bread with your sandwich? Fine, but that'll cost ya! GRRR!!!!!
Anyway, delicious sandwich yes. The only thing was that it took a good eternity to make. I mean, Margot G and I both fully exchanged our two separate trip to a friends wedding stories we were on in the time it took the guy to make a couple sandwiches. Lame on that part. But again, $3.50. I won't complain… much.

A bit disappointed in the veggie options at the deli, but the store has surprisingly a lot of stuff packed in. It's very handy!
