The sign says Oceanside's Bagel Cafe but my friend told me that this place is known as 24 Hour Bagel. Funny thing is when you go to check in guess what name comes up? That's right this business is listed as how it is known to the locals which is 24 Hour Bagel.
I came in on a Sunday morning with my friend who is from Oceanside and told me to check out at the counter what I wanted. We were already in line and I said I've have a look when we got up there and he was like, "No, go up there now and look". Now while this place had a line, it was moving and as it was moving I had a good look at all the stuff on the side such as the prepared foods, salads and such.
We were only there for bagels and one flagel for his wife. Basically I just went with an Everything bagel. The reason I had to know what we were going to get by the time we got near the front is that there's about 4 people behind the counter helping 4 people in front of the counter all at the same time. Customers are yelling their orders to the people behind the counter who are picking their choices of bagels out of the baskets and and also telling them whatever else they'd like.
"2 everything, 1 pumpernickel, etc etc" "2 cream cheeses, one plain and the other onions".
So what would seem chaotic to some people not familiar with how this place works and how you order items it would make more sense if you were familiar of how ordering cheesesteaks are done in Philadelphia. Mind you you're not screaming across a counter and 4 people are doing this at the same time but rather the fact that by the time you get up to the counter you have to know what you want. Ain't nobody got time for you deciding what you'd like at the ordering counter… know what you want and be prepared to shout it out loud enough so you can be heard over 3 other people doing the same thing.
After it was all said and done we went back to my friends house and had our bagels. Damn great food and the experience of going to 24 Hour Bagel was only half of it. The other half is having the bagels themselves.
Good bagels, good cream cheese and good times.
The food here is good but unfortunately due to one particular cashier, ZERO STARS and I won't be back.
I gave this place a few shots because it's on my way to school but every time the same cashier had to hit on me and make me feel uncomfortable. And this is after I said I had a bf and asked him to stop.
The last time I came in he tried to HOLD my hand when I handed him money. The management needs to watch their staff a little closer. I wonder how many female customers they've lost due to this guy???
What can I not say about this place!!! Bagels are top notch and the service is impeccable. I actually go out of my way to make it in here. I would definitely recommend and of the salads on a lettuce wrap, it will definitely blow your mind.
I love bagels. What do i love more than bagels? A 24 hour bagel store!!!!
The bagels here are really good and they have a decent amount of spread options. No tofutti spreads at all though. Get with the times!!
They have a large seating area if you're not looking to pay and run.
They also have a full deli with salads you can buy by the lb as well as some pastires/cookies.
I love me some bagels
Bagels are huge and their open 24 hours, plenty of seating and large menu of sandwiches someone can make for you. What else can you ask for!!
I really enjoyed this bagel store. Maybe bc they didn't say anything when my knee was bleeding down my leg at 11pm after a soccer game, then again maybe not. Regardless of injury taunting, this place is legit. The bagels aren't the best in LI, but they're very good and the selection (even so late at night) is excellent. Lots of cc's, and salads, if you're into all that jazz. The store has a pretty nice amount of seating in it, so no need to eat that bagel in the car (no one makes it home without a few bites, right?). They also have eggies, bacon, and a ton of sandwich options. In an area where there is little open after 9pm, a 24 hour bagel store is a welcome site. The fact that it's good is just icing on the cake. Watch out for a crowd at certain times weekend mornings and after 10pm, otherwise there's no reason not to get your tail on over here for a nice snack that hasn't been sitting in your fridge for a week+!
