“Good spot to check out before heading over to the NJPAC for a taping of America's Got Talent or perhaps seeing Third Eye Blind.”

“Outside they have an small enclosed patio that shady, but also has cute string lights up.”

“Well…truth be told "it's my spot" whenever I'm in Newark which as of late is typically just for Yelp events that lure me to Jersey City's ever-evolving neighbor to the west.”

  1. Overall, 27 Mix is overpriced. It can be difficult to get a table some days – at least at lunchtime. It's good if you'd like a frosty beverage on the patio for a leisurely business lunch.

However, some of the food has been delicious. Tokyo wings are completely crave-worthy, just sweet enough and succulent. Other winners have been the limoncello chicken, quesadilla, salads, and the pasta. Fish and chips were not good at all though – I'd recommend taking a pass.

I'll be back for a drink and Tokyo wings!

  2. My experience here was blah. The service really sucked. The  menu didn't list anything that really jumped out at me, so to speak. The 4 of us felt the same way. Nothing spectacular and I had high expectations after hearing so many great things.

  3. I have tasted better food.  This place is overpriced, small, and my coworkers and I do not recommend.  There's so much better eatery in Newark.

  4. Food: Decent
    Service: Underwhelming
    Ambience: Very Good

I use to come to this place fairly frequently a few years back but had not been here for a a while so decided to stop by for lunch because they have a very nice outdoor space to sit in and it was a beautiful day.
As soon as you walk in you do not think this place will be in the middle of Newark. It feels like a trendy eatery in the city.
I got there and was seated immediately and to my surprise it was a table outside.
As soon as we sat down they brought our water took our drink order, dropped the bread off and then left.
The wait staff asked us multiple times for the order but we were so deep in conversation that we had not seen the menu. Everyone was so polite about the delay and made us feel welcome.
Once we placed our orders we waited for about 45 minutes for the food to come. I ordered the shrimp po boy and once it finally got taste it. I was disappointed the shrimp was over breaded. Unfortunately the food was not the only disappointment. The service was polite but painfully slow everything took so so long maybe it was us and we gave them the wrong impression.
If we had not caused the initial delay I would have given them 2 stars but giving them the benefit of a doubt. Overall this a unique place given the location but if there food was not the best and the service was slow.

  5. Solid back patio, a welcome escape from the terrifying streets of Newark only blocks away.

Half priced apps on Sat night! $18 bottles of wine! Good spot to check out before heading over to the NJPAC for a taping of America's Got Talent or perhaps seeing Third Eye Blind.

  6. Wow!! I have never been so disappointed in the overall service of a restaurant. It's rather unfortunate because the place had great character and the ambience was popping.

I attended a open air concert at JPAC with a group of friends. After the concert, we went in search of something to eat. I'm to familiar with NJ's dining scene and so I went with the recommendation of a friend, it ended up being a complete disaster. I won't belabor you wit points that have already been mentioned in other reviews but truly they've got to do better.

In brief, the food and service will be the demise of this restaurant unless they make some serious changes. I will never be back!

  7. I can only comment on the 27 Mix lunch and not its dinner or bar scene. I found the lunch to be quite good. The free bread basket was surprisingly fresh and was complemented by sweet butter (I still can't figure out what was mixed in it!). I ordered the veggie wrap with fries, which was stuffed with cucumber strips, red pepper, and mozzarella.

There definitely seems to be a professional work crowd during lunch time. The inside has exposed brick walls, a large bar, and there's a back patio. The restaurant is in a pretty narrow space. 27 Mix is a decent choice for a quick lunch!

  8. Mix is a pretty consistent restaurant with surpringly good food. The service can be a bit surly and slow, especially when waiting for the bill. The wraps and sandwiches are pretty good and decently priced. The outside patio is also really nice in the summer.
