  1. Finally stopped in here after seeing their episode of Bar Rescue.  The update looks great, I especially like the lighting fixtures over the bar area.  We had the pleasure of meeting Stu at the bar.  I wasn't sure what kind of wine I felt like and He made a great recommendation.  The crowd was a bit of a mixed bunch and the place started filling up as we were leaving.  There was also karaoke, which would be fun to come back and see.  I hope they find success, this place has a lot of potential.

  2. I had a great evening at 5th & Vine last night. My wife and I were curious to see the Bar Rescue makeover and I am glad we stopped in. Stu, the owner, was behind the bar and was great and suggesting a wine to try. He also spent some time talking with us about the new concept and what doing the show was like. As the night went on, the place got more crowded, but nothing like the rowdy bikers they depicted on the show. Everyone was friendly and well mannered. They had a DJ who was playing a nice mix of music, and it was nice to be in a bar were you could relax and have a conversation without shouting. We didn't try any of the food as we arrived right after a late dinner. I hope 5th & Vine does well, and Im sure I'll be back some time soon.

  3. I came here for the first time on a Friday at 7:30 to check it out before meeting up with friends for dinner.  It was just opening up.  The owner, Stu, really cares about his business and that the patrons have a great experience.  They have a wine machine that keeps the wine at the perfect drinking temperature.  They have many chardonnay options.  I was even surprised to find they have an unoaked chardonnay.  Their food menu looked tasty, but since we had dinner plans we didn't eat.  Staten Island needs places for the 30 something crowd like this.  I look forward to return later at night to try their food.  It's a great spot for 30 somethings that are looking for a girls night or a date night.

  4. I stopped in for a glass of wine with my husband last Saturday night after dinner and was greeted by one of the owners right away. He offered us a seat at the bar or a table but since we weren't eating, we decided to sit at the bar.

This was my first time coming here but my husband came here a few times when it was Rhythm & Brews. After we recently watched Spike TV's "Bar Rescue," we were curious to see what the place was like.

The bar has a modern look with a lot of warm, neutral tones and it's big, plenty of space to sit. I thought the wine selection was good, priced well, and the drinks tasted good too. After, I had my first glass of Pinot, I wanted something different so I asked for an Angry Orchard Apple Cider. They had it in a bottle, which is fine, but I love it on tap. I thought they could have had a wider selection of tap beers even though it's a wine bar. I noticed many customers were drinking beer too. In total, they offered about 5 or 6 kinds of draft beer. I later found out they have Red Sangria – maybe I'll try that next time.

We spoke with two of the owners, who more than once, came over to ask if we had a good time and if we needed anything. We went on a Saturday night, and they had a DJ and karaoke. Although no one in the bar seemed to be interested in singing except for us, it was still nice that they had it. Maybe they will get more of a karaoke crowd on Saturday nights in the future.

I would like to mention during my second visit recently, it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke in the bar. I was surprised because it didn't the first time I stopped by. I'm not sure if someone was smoking in the back or in the men's bathroom but either way, it isn't something I want to smell.

Originally, I had mentioned that the bathrooms needed some work but when I stopped by for a second visit, they were very clean and newly renovated.

  5. In April 2016, I suggested this venue as a first date place since my date was driving about an hour and a half from nj. I made the mistake of not checking and assumed we could enter at 6pm when my date arrived however it opened at 7pm. To me, this is an odd time to open. Stu, the owner was kind when greeting us. The lighting in the front of the bar was on and gave a half open feel to the place. That and we were the only people in the restaurant for at least an hour or so. There was a juke box we tinkered with in the front. We ordered the charcuterie plate, which came out looking like very basic grocery deli cheeses and meats; salami, chorizo, no prosciutto or cappicola. It was a hefty portion but not worth 15$ . Stu said they were expanding their menu next week. He offered us free shots and free rounds for being the only patrons and then a really nice regular, Michael, bought us a round. I let Stu pick my wine which was good, had a lot of bubbles on top and maybe it's because of the system installed by bar rescue to airate it. It was a great experience getting to know Stu and his regulars. Would return for the friendly feel, would need sharper dressed waiters and bartenders to regain the upscale feel of the place. Sports was on the tvs so it felt more like a pub than a wine bar. Will go back to try the food because I was utterly unimpressed by the cheese plate. 5 stars for the company we kept and 1 star for the food averages out to 3.
