Ok so I love Brooklyn Bagel so when I heard they owned this too it was a must try. In the area and stopped by & boy oh boy am I glad I did!!
The cold brew comes out of a tap, so cool! It was rich & bold & awesome!! Bk bagel has great coffee but I may prefer this, good work!!
I got the hibiscus donut, dough was great but I didn't really love the flavor. A little too earthy & savory for me. I expected a more tart sweetness. I also got the Nutella filled donut & hollllllllllly Lord, best donut I may have ever had. I think it was $6.50 which is really absurd but this donut was heaven.
Looking forward to going back & trying more things!!
This is a great place to work, especially when you can take a nice stroll down Ditmars in nice weather to get there. If you need a plug, be early. There's not a huge supply. Also, DEFINITELY try the $5 Greek yogurts. I just had the fig one and it's amazing. No joke. One of the best parfaits I've ever had. The wifi is good and the clientele is hip and into their work. Also there are so many places to reward yourself with good food/beer after because the coffee shop portion closes at 5 along with the wifi.
Great coffee, tea and baked goods, but it's often hard to find a table because it's such a popular place for people to camp out with laptops to work. Last time I was there, late on a Friday afternoon, I waited 20min for a table, but not a single table was vacated in that time so my friend and I went elsewhere to catch up and caffeinate. It's hard for a coffee shop to strike the right balance between welcoming the laptop-toting crowd and ensuring that there's still space for everyone else. Communal tables help, if only to break the social barriers to sharing tables. More than once, I've seen people who came together working side-by-side at a four-top rather than sharing a two-top, even when there are no free tables. Not cool, 60 Beans customers.
After 5pm it now transforms to a restaurant. The food is great, but we sorely miss being able to go to the cafe after work.
Four stars purely for the coffee, tea and snacks. And the outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is the best.
What a wonderful place!! Came in for Friday dinner and was pleasantly surprised by what this day-cafe could turn into at night.
Chef Dominique Gianfrancesco is the former sous chef at Craft owned by Tom Colicchio. Thank you for blessing us here in Astoria with your cooking!
My party ordered drinks and the menu features a small assortment of beers and wines–just how I like it. I don't like to be overwhelmed with an extensive list of either because I never know what to choose!
We ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger ($19) and the Double-Stack Niman Ranch Beef Burger ($17). Each one comes with a 12oz beer which we were happy to discover. My favorite was the Wagyu beef. The beef really speaks for itself and doesn't require extensive toppings and was cooked perfectly. The double-stack was also a very cook burger with a great gruyere on top.
Each burger comes with crispy fingerling potatos and a pickle. They also come with this dip which tasted something like a bacon ranch (of course, much much better though!)
I'll definitely be back. Excited to try some of the pasta!
Stopped in while wandering the street fair that was going on primarily because they have outdoor seating. Barista was super helpful and ended up with an iced macha tea that was delicious. The inside decor and vibe is very chill and comfortable, while the outside seating is great for people watching!
Cronuts!!
Stopped in this past weekend and almost every seat in the house was taken. It was pretty busy in there, but I managed to snag a small table in the back.
I ordered a cappuccino and a crème brulee cronut. The cappuccino had a beautiful heart design and was just the right temperate.
The crème brulee cronut reminded me a lot of the doughssant from Chikalicious, so I'm wondering if they order from them or they make it in house at 60 beans. Regardless, it was delicious and I wish I could like 3 more of them. It looked like the nutella cronut sells out fast because there was only one left when I went. But I am a sucker for crème brulee. It was filled with a delicious vanilla bean pastry cream.
The baristas are friendly and they let you know when your food/drinks are ready. Tables were clean and the atmosphere was great. Quiet enough to get some work done, but not eerily quiet where you feel awkward for talking.
There are no words for how sad I am that my go-to coffee spot is now a restaurant.
As if Astoria needed another one.
Gone are the comfy couches and spacious layout. They've been taken over by uncomfortable wooden benches, making seating more limited and more awkward since your options are either to share a table face to face with a stranger, or wait it out until seating becomes available. The free wifi that used to help me meet deadlines well into the night now ends at 5 pm, making room for dinner patrons on their new, needlessly fancy overpriced food menu.
I didn't sample their menu, so I can't speak to how good the food is, but as far as I'm concerned, Astoria doesn't need another restaurant. We're lacking coffee shops where students, freelancers and the like can come together and work in a comfortable setting, with strong coffee, free wifi and a public restroom.
You're probably thinking, "But don't all coffee shops have those three things?"
They do not.
Kinship has no public restroom and Love Cafe has closed down, leaving us with nothing but a bunch of uninspiring, overcrowded Starbucks to work out of.
I'm grateful that I recently stumbled across Gossip Coffee, which, while more crowded, at least still offers the basics.
I hope that 60 Beans gets back to its roots soon and gives up on this whole restaurant charade. Until then, I won't be back.
Beautiful place but bad coffee, at least the espresso/americano. The taste was kind of odd and watery.
I think their specialty is the brew coffee. Next time I'll try the cold one.
The tea was good though and all the stars are for the place itself. Very very nice decor and sitting area. They have an outdoor seating to enjoy the spring while you have a cup of joe. They also have some tall tables that are very comfortable and I guess a lot of people go there with their laptops to work because I always see it packed with iMacs.
Not the most inexpensive place because they charge you more for cold drinks and if you want to add almond or soy milk to your drink, thing that I still don't understand because they do not charge for regular milk anywhere… What's the difference between regular and almond/soy? They still have to buy both.
Anyway, nice ambiance and staff.
