  1. Overall: 4/5
Good food at great prices. Expect a long wait unless you make reservations in advance (it was 1.5 hours of waiting when we just showed up without reservations. The place is crowded and for good reason.

    Advice:
    1) You can sign up for their VIP card (free) for a discount of $1 per person AND earn points towards cashback in the future.
    2) If you go within 3 days of your birthday (+/- 3 days of your birthday) with a cake of at least 8 inches, the birthday person can eat for free. Not sure if there are extra strings attached on this.
    3) There's a 2 hour limit but it wasn't enforced when we were there. Expect it to be, but be grateful if it's not 😛

    Service: 5/5
They were great about taking dishes away very quickly, and provided a lot of extra plates and napkins. Service was prompt, staff were friendly.

    Value: 5/5
$21/person pre-tax and pre-tips for all you can eat hotpot. Some items (like crab sticks) were extra. See the attached menu for what's available.
Not sure about how prices typically are in Manhattan but this is great value for all you can eat.

    Food selection: 3/5
A couple of things (like watercress) was out of stock. I've seen better selections in Toronto.

    Food quality: 4/5
My friend who's from China that was with me said the meat is good quality.

  2. 99 is an excellent hot pot restaurant. They feature a wide variety of ingredients to go in your hotpot. I ate here with a large group and the food just kept coming. All kinds of meats, poultry and fish. Then pair these with noodles and veggies and you have a wonderful meal. They also have a wide selection of sauces for dipping. Everything is fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.

  3. Yes yes yes! This is what we need! 99 Favor Taste (you read that right – it's 'Favor' not 'Flavor') is legit AYCE hot pot for $20 per person. (I think it's $25 for BBQ and $30 for both.) The place is multi-level huge, but in the winter time, we have waited like 30-60 minutes for a table. You can mix your own custom dipping sauce and choose your own hot pot flavor. We got rounds upon rounds of meats and veggies – all pretty good and all for dirt cheap, bless. You also get free meal if it's your birthday (with ID verification, of course).

  4. I love coming here for hot pot, not so much for kbbq… Their kbbq meats are just not as good to me as the hot pot. I mostly come here for one or the other, rarely both because it gets overwhelming with all the options and in the end, you mostly eat one style of cooking over the other.

They have decent amount of sauces for you to mix to satisfy your taste buds.

Ordering here is relatively easy as all your options are written on a menu they give ya, however, if you have a server that isn't around your table often, it can be quite difficult. If you come in large groups, ordering your ideal portions to satisfy the group is difficult too. So honestly, ordering depends on how easily you can grab the attention of your server to put your order in.

I think this place is a pretty good place to celebrate your birthday at. They play the music throughout the whole restaurant and you get a free meal. I've never done it though, I've only observed from the side.

  5. ***All you can eat (2 hours), Great price, Excellent service***

Even though it's about to be brutally hot, I would totally come back for hot pot here. It was about $25 (with tax) for 2 hours unlimited food. You get your own individual hot pot which I really liked. The service was excellent and I highly recommend this place!

  6. This place has got some character. There is some truth to the other reviews in that you will leave smelling like your hot pot dish. But as long as you know that coming in, it's not a problem!  *their service is 2 stars. We asked for water refills 4 times over an hour before we finally got it.

I got the spicy broth and highly recommend it. It is mild to moderate spice level, and has a good amount of flavor. As you eat, inevitably some of the water will disappear, and they refill your pot with hot water.

One of my favorite parts of the meal was getting to make my own dipping sauces. They have an impressive array of things to mix, and I say take advantage. You get to cook your food and dip and eat for 2 hours. Like most hot pot goers, I enjoy the handiwork that goes into preparing my food as I eat it. Also: the meat cooks faster than you think!

Save the seafood for the end of the meal because it will change the flavor of the broth. The crab was a little disappointing because I'm not Captain Hook and don't have a built in tool to hack away. they should have provided a means of getting at the meat.

They provide ice cream for free at the end of the meal, and it's quite creamy and flavorful!  Nothing to write home about but it was a nice way to end the meal. Beware: you might not have room if you do hot pot all out..

  7. I probably come here on a weekly basis. If you're doing hot pot, go for the original broth. Was not a fan of any of the other ones I tried–the Chinese Herbal tasted like Chinese medicine and the spicy broth was basically just a pot of oil. Definitely get the fried tofu skins (but only dip them in the broth for literally a second or two, no more), tofu threads, and the crab. Also, this is probably the most vegetarian-friendly hot pot place in the city, for those vegetarians out there.

Heads up — they don't accept Discover but they do accept most other CCs.

  8. I have came here many times. IMO, their food has improved significantly recently. This is probably due to competition from Hometown. Most recently, I came with a group of 15. We were seated on the second floor in a private room-like table.

My favorite soup is the spicy one. I wish they have better sauces though.
