99 Miles to Philly
“All their sides I've had have been fantastic as well, waffle fries, mozz moons, onions rings.”
“Best cheesesteak in New York, in my opinion, with Carls a close second and Wogies third.”
“The one thing that really sets these apart from other "cheesesteaks" in NY are that they use Amoroso rolls that are delivered everyday.”

I paid around $10 for my 6 inch philly cheesesteak, waffle fries, and a drink. Not too shabby for New York prices. I think I enjoyed my fries more than my philly cheesesteak. Don't get me wrong, it was good but it wasn't great. Next time I'll try the chicken philly. The place itself is very open (lots of seats!) and has vintage decor, which was nice!
The person who took our order wasn't too friendly. It wasn't even busy? I was a little confused on why he seemed annoyed and was rushing us as we were ordering. Knocked off a star for this reason.
Love the fact that it's right next to Bar None. Open late. Small interior with a few tables, extremely small space. The wait time for food was a bit over, but I mean it was late night, plus that means its not pre-packaged or pre-made. Got the cheesesteak with waffle fries, to my tasting the cheesesteak was bit salty, but that could of been just the cook for the night. Based on the other reviews the cheesesteak were awesome lol. I could of came on a night where the cook was a heavy handed with the salt. Love love love the waffle fries, wish they gave us a bit more though.
I continue my search for a cheesesteak in New York that one could call a "Philly" cheesesteak. I was extremely excited to find 99 miles to philly as they obviously advertised that they were making philly style cheesesteaks, even using the right bread, imported from Philly. Unfortunately, they do not even come close to my experience with cheesesteaks in Philly. The steak itself was dry and lukewarm, the cheese was sparse and half melted, and the diced onions mushrooms and peppers were nonexistent. Basically I had a loaf of bread with shredded dry beef with a little bit of half melted cheese and this is what I paid $14 for and they called a Philly cheesesteak. Somebody please point me in the right direction for "Philly" cheesesteaks in New York.
They will get your order wrong if you order delivery. I know this because our order has been wrong on probably three separate occasions, and has never been right. Today's mishap – sandwich was correct but the cheese waffle fries came with marinara instead of cheese. Why does this place even have marinara?! Both the sandwich and the fries were a little soggy. Blah, disappointing $17 fast food dinner. Probably won't risk ordering from here again.
NOT really sure who's giving away 4.5 stars.
Now I may not be a cheesesteak aficionado but I have had plenty a cheesesteaks.
Points given
1. Quick service
2. Meat to bread ration
3. Food quantity to price point
To sum it up mediocre at best not hugely different than any other countless delis across NYC.
Shorty's Still Stand TALL in the city
Yummy spot to grab a philly cheese steak when you crave one. I used to go all the time when they were near my work, but have since moved too far for convenience. They load up the subs pretty dang well and was always delicious. Thumbs up!
Hell yes, it's still here! Lots of places change face here in the city and after a two year absence I was happy to find 99 Miles still standing. Although, that's not much of a surprise. I don't know of many other places that serve cheesesteaks as tasty as these outside of Philly. The steak itself is cooked just right, the onions are perfectly caramelized, and the whiz is where it's at. Also, you've got to love the atmosphere. From the decor to the staff, it really does feel like you could be ordering a cheesesteak on some street corner in Philly.
Every time when I'm out in the city doing some late night drinking, it's a must if in the area, I have to stop here before I head home. In all these years, This place has never done me wrong.
Their waffle fries are the best. The onion rings are superb. The philly cheese steak is on a whole different level. It is easily placed as possibly the best cheesesteak I've ever had in all of New York !
