  1. I recall going to Abma Farm as a young child to enjoy the fall season and pick some pumpkins, and now in my 20's the experience at Abma hasn't changed! Although the parking lot and the petting zoo were slightly hectic on a Saturday morning, the crowd did not dampen the fun. We stopped by the petting zoo area to admire the cuteness of pigs, cows, ponies, baby goats, and chickens! Despite being an "adult" this was a nice surprise. I also cannot express how great it is to grab a hot cider and munch on a cider and sugar doughnut while preparing for the hay ride!

Although the pumpkin patch is not huge, there is a variety of pumpkin sizes with proportional prices. These options can make a day at Abma a relatively cheap experience as well. I believe between the hayride, a small pumpkin, cider, and a doughnut I spent only $10-15 dollars (of course this number will depend on the size/number of pumpkins you buy).

Going to Abma Farm in October will meet all of your Fall seasonal needs perfectly!

  2. Ooooh where to start?! Went for their food market .
    Keeping it organized 🙂
    – home made cookies , doughnuts , salads, soups
    – tomatoes, cucumbers, red and green cabbage ,eggs and poultry from the farm
    – good selection of veggies but not grown there

I bought poultry , tomatoes , organic butter ( can't compare it to any other butter – it's from a creamery from PA ) .

We cooked at home the chicken, eggs ( used the butter instead of olive oil ) and tomatoes . The chicken is fabulous, there is no added water in it and it was very tasty and good and the tomatoes ! Omg!! Sooooo freaking tasty !

What I feel it should be improved: clearer retail signage ( which veggies are from the farm or not ) . For some of them it's obvious but for other is a bit confusing – for example I wanted to buy parsley and thyme and the girl from the cash register wasn't sure if it was from the farm or not …

They also have a petting zone with goats, cows, bunnies – small one but very cute 🙂

    Definitely will return soon!!

  3. Great great place. My son is three and too much action stresses him out this place is perfect ! Spacious and concise at the same time. We went to pick pumpkins and had a ball. I have heard of farms charging by the pound but this place has set very reasonable prices and they go by size not pounds. Parked in the lot and took the hayride which is very nice and comfy through the farm to the patch where we picked pumpkins. We had a great time many kids and family's were there. After we took the hayride back to the parking lot and drove the car to the market. (Suggested) Directly across the market is a nice petting zoo with large animals that you can feed. Again not too much. The market is always awesome we got soup, fresh grilled corn and fresh from the oven cider donuts ! So if your looking for. Kid friendly local farm to visit… Enjoy !

  4. Abma's farm is an adorable little place with a small petting zoo and marketplace. It's got a cute country feel that will warm your heart.

It's a tradition for me to come here in the fall because they have a nice pumpkin patch to pick from, and they sell hot apple cider and autumny soups inside. They also do hayrides but I haven't been on one since I was a little kid.

Their petting zoo is small, but seemed amazing to me when I was younger. There's different kinds of chickens, turkeys, rabbits, goats & sheep, pigs and donkeys. My favorite part is their chick hut where you can peek through some panes of glass and see tons of adorable yellow baby chicks!

Their marketplace is warm and homey. They sell home grown produce, pies and pastries, their own brand of salsas and dips. The little room in the back has candles, country-style tchotskes and signs, stuffed animals etc. The last time I went I was pleasantly surprised to see their new wine tasting bar featuring a local NJ winery.

The only thing I don't like is there's no picnic tables to sit down and eat. They have tons of awesome ready-to-eat foods like salads, wraps and soups…but there's no where to sit down and eat them! I usually end up plopping down on a bale of hay to enjoy my soup but it's a tad uncomfortable.

All in all, Abma's is a great place to bring your kids to check out the petting zoo, or to just shop for local produce and the like.

  5. This place was really awesome! Came here with my friend and her daughter so she could see the petting zoo and we could get some lunch. The food was very good and we ended up buying a million things on our way out.

They had so many different foods, produce, cheeses, meats, eggs, salads, sandwiches, countless different desserts, specialty honey. I bought some heirloom tomatoes and I am so excited to eat those.

There were also wines available to taste and buy. I loved the raspberry moscato and the cranberry moscato! Yum! Had to buy those too!

And we also enjoyed the petting zoo. They had rabbits, hens, roosters, ponies, cows, sheep and goats. The animals are so cute!
This is a really great place and I can't wait to come back! I wish I would have known about it sooner!

  6. This should really be a 5 star because its a nice place with lots of family tradition for over 25 years for me. Local on farm eggs and baked goods. Local produce is very nice BUT none organic. And in a suburban area chemicals are all over the place which is prob why they don't do organic. Given the organic farmers at local markets and even whole foods (Abmas prices comparable to organic at WF) this warrants the lower rating despite its charm.

  7. Somehow I grew up in Bergen County and never knew this existed.  Boo.  But now I've discovered it and I'll continue to come back.  The market is full of fresh fruits and veggies, most of which they grow at the farm.  They also sell fresh-baked goods (get the apple cider donuts – amazing) along with sandwiches, soups, farm fresh eggs, etc.  I could spend hours and lots of $$ here.  It's also nice that they have a petting zoo for the kids.  This is a great place – I only wish I had known about it sooner!

  8. Small, cute farm with a petting zoo.

Produce prices are expensive compared to other Bergen County farms. Ready to go one person serving size of pasta was marked at $12. Non-perishable goods like toys (a small tube with 10 plastic animals would cost you $10) were pricey as well.

Maybe they also have a problem with theft given that every place I turn within the store I was greeted with laminated signs which repeatedly informed me that security cameras were in use.

If I had children with me, I would probably appreciate Abma's a little more.
