Mixed Reviews.. If i was to rate the food I would give it 5 stars but it gets minus 2 stars for lack of coordination and insight from the staff.
I personally love to ask the staff their intake on the food what they will recommend and what's new. I always look over menus and pick what I'm interested in and then ask the waitress or waiter to tell me which I should pick between which one they love.. etc. Unfortunately I did not get any such help at Adelina's and I did try a couple times– I feel that you have to know what you want yourself and that's a shame since the staff is basically the business card to the menu. Some of the response I received was: It's what you like, I can't make that decision for you, what you see on the menu is what is best if they food wasn't great it wouldn't be here and this are all valid answers but at the same time a little input would go a long way. The last response I received as; since you are not ready to order I will go tot he next table and when you will be ready please let me know–I had an additional 10 min wait to order and since it was so busy it took the food about 40-45 mins to come out.
Mind you I love the food:
Top picks:
1. Kale salad– AMAZING!!!!!
2. The Sopresata Pizza is great!
3. The Pesto Pasta
Brunch:
1. Pizza Fritta al uovo!! MUST HAVE
2. Truffles Egg— NUMBER ONE BRUNCH PICK!
If it wasn't for the service this place would have been my top pick, love that the have wine on tap, the decor is creative and it's a very nice and cozy place.
I originally wanted to give it 2 stars but i felt that would push people away so I'm sticky with 3.
I was not impressed with Adelina's. This review is solely for brunch so I cannot comment on whether or not their other meals are better. First of all, when we arrived around 1 pm on a Saturday it was empty (literally, we were the only people there for awhile) yet service was still slow? Bizarre.
Also, the food was just okay. The pizza was recommended by the waiter yet it was just mediocre sauce and cheese on fried bread. What miffs me the most, however, was the $5 I spent on fresh orange juice that was bitter and lacking in flavor and the fact that two out of three egg dishes came with yolks that were hard. Nothing bothers me more than when you excitedly wait for a beautiful runny egg and then…nope. Luckily, one poached egg did come out perfectly, so not sure why the other two dishes did not. I would not return.
Food was good; service was subpar.
Came here with a group of 5 people for a birthday dinner. It's a really cute and small restaurant, probably fitting 30 people max. Which is why it was a bit surprising how long it took us to get our food.
It probably took us about 50 minutes to get our entrees, and another 30 minutes to get our dessert. We ended up spending far more time waiting than eating. Not a fan. The food was petty good though. I ordered the grilled polenta with mushrooms, which was really tasty and unique. It cost $2 to add cheese though, which was kind of absurd but I think worth it since the dish itself is on the plainer side. Some other people got the malfatti, the sausage pizza, and the pappardelle, which they all reported to be very good.
Dessert was the red wine chocolate cake and the creme brûlée. Cake was really good and dense, but not quite as chocolatey as I expected. Creme brûlée was standard.
The long waiting me could've been remedied by good service, but unfortunately we found the waiters to be pretty unfriendly. Did not see any of them smile once, even as they brought our friend's birthday dessert.
I love Adelina's! Their fried pizza is amazing! It's definitely better than the montanara at Forcella. They crust was perfectly fried – not too crispy, not too oily. The sauce was great, and it's what really sets apart good pizza from regular pizza. They've got a decent wine selection, and are really well priced! I came here on a date, but would definitely come back here for a quiet, low-key night with friends.
Holy arancini! I ended up here after it started pouring outside on the way to meet a friend. I ordered a serve of arancini for $7 and they were delicious! I'm usually used to dry arancini but this one was moist (ugh hate that word but it does best describe how it tastes lol) on the inside with a dab of pesto, and crunchy on the outside. Also was served by a nice Kiwi waiter – always nice to meet fellow antipodeans! Their menu seems very gluten free and vegetarian friendly so I'd be interested to know what their pizza and other dishes taste like.
Really enjoyed my experience at Adelina's this past weekend. We passed this restaurant randomly and it's Brooklyn charm had us selecting it as our restaurant of choice one lazy Sunday night.
We each ordered a pizza, my husband the cheese and mushroom, and me the bell pepper. Don't remember the exact names. Both were delicious and the pizza crust had a sweetness to it that was amazing. Really good sized portions and both pizzas were just $13, not bad at all. We also enjoyed some of those specialty sodas they served, yum!
The bartender happened to be the server and owner and was super friendly. He welcomed us to the neighborhood, introduced himself by first name, and asked us to come back again soon. Great atmosphere.
When we were there two parties were reserved for birthdays that night which was great since despite it being a smaller place it has a lot of charm and entertains larger parties.
Romantic, rustic, and cozy with crisp, reasonably priced Prosecco on tap, Adelina's makes for the perfect date spot.
