Agavi offers some awesome flavors for juices and smoothies alike. Love the cold pressed juices here. Staff is friendly and helpful. The loyalty card is also a bonus.
Warning: this is one of the healthier juice bars I've been to. The juices are sweet and fresh. Just not truly the sweet I love. The vita- one is pretty sweet and you just taste the carrots at the end. The grassy one has wheat grass, lemon, cucumber, green apple and I asked for some ginger too. It's not really sweet and its very grassy. The cashier was super nice and patient even though I'm super indecisive and difficult sometimes. I noticed that they do deliveries by a cyclist which is awesome. I don't know how they don't spill. Wish I was a local so I could try their cleanse 🙂 its a small place, not good for hiding from the cold when I was studying inside, but maybe I should've asked for them to close the doors. Gotta try a smoothie next time! XD
Craved an acai bowl and stopped by Agavi after reading all the wonderful reviews.
Super small place( there were two seats by the window and a wooden standing bar outside the location)..definitely meant for an order and go.
I got the Almond berry acai bowl ($9) and loved the Almond butter flavor and consistency , perfectly sweet and soft. The acai bowl as a whole was very fresh and the hemp granola was very filling! In all the acai bowl was not to different from other acai bowls but the flavors offered were a bit unique. I would definitely stop by if I was in the area — just wished that the acai bowl was made a bit faster!
Lately, I've been a lot into juicing. When I found out that groupon was offering a 1 day cleanse for $33 I immediately bought the deal without researching this place first. I am so happy that everything turned out well. After, purchasing the groupon I just called Agavi and asked what my next step would be and they said I can come in by the afternoon and pick up my juice pack. I had never done a cleanse but the guy at the register was extremely informative and took me through everything I should expect when juicing. Unfortunately, they did not have bags available, which I thought was a bit weird but nevertheless he was kind enough to search and provide me with his whole foods bag.
The cleanse was interesting. I have to say I did not feel hungry all day but rather just felt the need to want to chew on something. The next day I felt completely normal and was able to go on with my week. Not sure whether a 3 day cleanse would have a different effect but this was not too bad. The juices tasted delicious (expect the #6 juice, i hated it) and i would consider doing it again from this location.
Great neighborhood juice bar with a ton of character and charm. Definitely get their punch card–free hugs and selfies galore. A little expensive for a daily habit, but hey, that's the nature of juice bars. Also, the blonde guy is super cute!
Definitely had the worst smoothie ever here. I don't know why I still spend money on smoothies after my crazy "drink your salad" phase where I bought a blendtec and a juicer.
Anyways, the smoothie still had broccoli chunks, was watery, and tasted like a lake with dead bodies. This place made me miss the smoothie cart downstairs from work, or rather, it reminded me that I better stop going to places just because theres a $1 credit on levelup.
Update: the owner refunded my whole transaction which he really didn't need to?!?! I am shocked by the kindness. Will definitely be more considerate when I write my stupid reviews from now on.
Update on update: I was offered a gift card in exchange for removal of my original review, which will not happen.
After living in New York and seeing how often people eat out amongst the city's overwhelming dining choices, I always wonder how and why people are so skinny. Is it something in the water? The cult of SoulCycle? The number of stairs we constantly climb down to the center of the earth and then back up again? Alas, it's probably because there's a juice bar on every corner.
Even though I don't really eat fruit, after partaking in way too much dining out of my own, I decided to try a juice cleanse. Luckily, Agavi had both a Groupon available for a 3 day cleanse and excellent reviews.
For my first time doing a cleanse, I really enjoyed Agavi. I'm not going to bore you with what your body on a juice cleanse feels like (TL;DR it sucks), but I felt like the cold-press juices were of really high quality and super tasty. My favorites were definitely the Refine (Beet, Lemon, Carrot, Apple, Cucumber, Ginger) and the Delicacy (Filtered water, Raw almonds, Agave, Cinnamon, Vanilla bean) while the Viridescent was definitely the hardest to get down. I actually skipped it on the last day, but that may have been because I was exhausted of juice after 72 hours.
My only complaint was that every single one of the juices was super high in sugar. Although this is definitely what gives you energy during the cleanse, my blood sugar was all over the place and I had a few raging headaches when I didn't drink enough water. This is definitely not a low-carb cleanse, and I would have at least liked 1 or 2 of the juices to be lower in sugar (such as a green juice made entirely of vegetables).
In any case, Agavi was a great introduction to the world of juicing. I ended my cleanse feeling a lot lighter and energetic, although I was ecstatic to start chewing again.
I am a smoothie/juice snob thanks to a few years in SoCal.
I am constantly looking for a smoothie experience that reaches the level that I came to expect when I was there, in terms of freshness/taste/tricking me into eating my vegetables.
This place nails it.
