First, the ambiance. The waiters here are all tall, Korean young males, dressed in black with slicked back hair. They looked like failed kpop idols. But don't let that fool you. Their service was very professional. The interior is cozy (seating cap 30), brightly lit, and simple-modern. White ceramic everything. Ceramic bowls, plates and chopstick-ottomans (I don't know how else to describe them- yuno the chopstick resting ware). And the white ceramic wares were shaped/molded into some kind of contemporary/ergonomic style. None of this simple, wooden or plastic nonsense. Old-school korean class like how I used to remember it. Even with the loud kpop playing on their stereo system, I liked the touch of refinement here.
The high quality of the food here matched its atmosphere. I ate a wonderful bowl of pork-bone, potato soup (dweji gamja tang) as lunch special. The soup was so rich and flavorful but not too spicy. My friend had the acorn-jelly cold noodle mix. That looked good too. The banchan was limited but one expects that for lunch.
Come here for a modern dining experience while enjoying some authentic korean food. The two generally do not go together.
