This is my go-to Seamless spot when I'm working late and craving sushi. My food always comes within the 15-30 minutes I'm quoted. Price and quality is also unbeatable.
My usual seamless order is their sashimi dinner entree which includes 18 pieces of fresh sashimi and comes with miso soup/house salad and a orange, all for under $25! I've also tried their salmon teriyaki. The salmon is cooked perfectly with a slight crisp around it.
Aji may not be a 5 star restaurant but it certainly deserves more than 3.5 stars. I would legitimately give it 4.5 stars if I could but I can't so I'm giving it 5.
I'm not a sushi fanatic like some but Aji is, without a doubt, my favorite sushi restaurant in the city that's not in the Koi/Nobu super expensive category. My girlfriend on the other hand IS a sushi fanatic and she also thinks that Aji is the best sushi we've had in the affordable category.
Every trip here involves the same 4 items with a new roll or two mixed in. For me, the menu highlights are:
Tuna Avocado Salad
Tuna Tartare Balls
Spicy Triplets Roll
Kiss of Fire Roll
The ambiance leaves something to be desired but other than that, this place is a home run. The fish is very fresh, the service is efficient and the prices are great. Come here for a first date or your hundreth date, with your parents, your kids or alone. Aji is a score and I will continue to "trek" up from the East Village for their top grade sushi.
My girlfriend and I often order the miso ramen soup which we have become avid fans of. The soup comes in a very large container while the ramen comes separate. The miso is full of veggies and tofu with a large piece of corn stalk at the bottom. Especially on cold days it seems to hit the spot and the delivery is very prompt. We are usually good for it once a week.
I often order take out from Aji and I am never disappointed. Their sushi is delicious and fresh. I normally get the seaweed salad, spicy crunchy salmon roll, and either a cucumber roll or shrimp tempura roll. You really cannot go wrong with anything off the menu! The delivery is always super fast, granted I live really close but even pick up is never more than 15 minutes.
A reliable spot for sushi, my friend said and she was spot on. The service is gracious and welcoming, the decor comfortable and clean, and the sushi good. I had the spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail and spicy salmon combo, 18 pieces that left me happy with a very full belly. It was fresh and delicious and the waitress came with a mound of wasabi big enough to clear my sinuses for the year when I requested more. My entree came with a small mixed salad with the usual tasty dressing. My friend had the golden dragon roll, almost too pretty to eat with its multi layers and the soy drizzle along with the hijiki salad. I gather it was tasty because she offered me some after she was almost done, lol.A place I would revisit for the value and taste.
Ordering Roll Combination B (spicy tuna, salmon avocado, and eel and cucumber) with a side of miso soup for delivery last night, my friend and I were greeted with an ample platter an hour later. While the spicy tuna was our favorite, the other two were also good. My only suggestion would be to request an extra pair of chopsticks if sharing- we were only given one, in spite of the size!
Ordered delivery from Aji sushi. Got the lobster specialty roll and substituted for brown rice – very mediocre, the rice was as hard as a rock. Miso soup was flavorless and tasted like water.
Would not consider dining in. There are better choices in midtown area.
Aji Sushi offers the best lunch deal with ACTUAL quality. I normally order from Aji once a week to get my sushi fix. For the 2 roll lunch special, you get 2 rolls (not including the gargantuan specialty rolls), miso soup, and a garden salad with ginger dressing for $9.17. I always order the Spicy Snow Crab and Shrimp Tempura rolls, which are much more satiating than the wimpy California or Philadelphia rolls that other lunch deals offer.
If you order for pick-up, Aji is pretty speedy, taking normally about 15 minutes to fill your order. I highly recommend Aji Sushi for anyone who either passes by, or people who work in the area!
