  1. This is one of those OK sushi places that doesn't feel authentic, but doesn't suck.
Really good lunch deals. 3 rolls for $13 if I'm not wrong, with miso soup and a blah salad. The miso soup at these kind of places isn't really delicious, and they don't even come in propor miso soup bowls, but it is acceptable. The salad was literally a bunch of leaves covered with the so called asian dressing.
The sushi was actually pretty decent, there wasn't too much rich which is good. I had the yellowtail scallion, salmon avocado and tuna.

  2. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I had walked by for years, & finally viewed the menu–it was fairly priced–what a great surprise! The sushi is creatively prepared, fresh, & delicious! I love the seared tuna salad & I'll post photos of that & also The Tomo Roll. I also like the spicy tuna & spicy salmon individual rolls. They can make them with some crunch in them & I enjoy those rolls. Service is very pleasant. Interior design-love it! Sushi-love it! I highly recommend this restaurant. It's about 2 blocks from Bloomingdale's. I often have my dessert a block away at Sprinkles Ice Cream also on Lex.Ave.

  3. Sushi  Sushi !!!!
Very Clean and well organize restaurant.  staff was so welcoming and courteous, I was running low on phone battery and the waitress took my phone and charger very kindly and plugged it at the near sett outlet . How great is that they help me charge my phone. My sister lovesssss Sushi, personally is not my cup of tea but am open to it once in a while.

The fried tofu was delicious, crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside.  The pork belly sandwich was perfect blend, sweet sauce, soft bread and crunchy lettuces. The plum wine a little too sweet for my taste but really exquisite taste. Just eat something before taking your first Sip, it can be a little strong  on a empty stomach. The Spicy tuna roll were good.

Overall the experience was really pleasant. I usually go across the street to Ginza, but over the years they becoming less welcoming and is more of a rushing environment.
    Looking forward on coming back.

  4. I frequent this place for lunch quite a lot, especially in the winter when it's freezing, because it'a so close to my office.  I always get their green tea which is always piping hot and perfect for a cold NY day.  I won't say it's the best Japanese food I've ever had, but I'm spoiled since I used to work at a sushi place during college that I adored and the food was amazing, but everything I've had at Ajisai has been very satisfactory.

Stopped by for lunch today with my sister.  We shared the Chicken Pad Thai (I know I know, but I'd been craving it, don't judge me) as well as three rolls: Salmon Avocado, Eel Cucumber and Yellowtail Scallion.  The ingredients were all fresh and the rolls had a good ratio of rice to filling.  The Pad thai was a little on the sweet side for me but still good.  The portions are on the smaller size for lunch but the lunch prices are reasonable so I think it's still worth it.  I'm a huge fan of their Orange Ginger salad dressing.  Not every Japanese restaurant nails this so it's notable when one does.

Service is always friendly and timely.  No complaints there.  I'm sure I'll be back!

  5. Amazing Japanese place! I had sushi rolls( crunchy spicy salmon, salmon avocado & California rolls) and my sister and I split the chicken teriyaki dinner plater which was big. The desert of Fried ice cream was incredible. We are definitely returning for the great service and affordable yet delicious food! Calvin was the best server! He helped us choose the rolls and was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place.

  6. Ajisai is a great lunch spot in Midtown for groups.  Their lunch specials range from $8.50 to $10.50 for their rice dishes, $11 to $14.50 for sushi handroll combinations, and $13 to $16.50 for their bento boxes.  Prices are a little higher due to location and decor.

My friends and I ordered a variety of items from the lunch special.  The sushi bento boxes are arranged very nicely and the fish looked vividly fresh.  The salmon teriyaki came on top of grilled veggies (yum).  The green tea ice cream tiramisu was hard as a rock but I liked the strong tea flavor.

Overall, good place to go for a quick but classy lunch as long as you're not expecting authentic Japanese food.  Ajisai is a fusion restaurant.

  7. There has to be at least 5 other sushi spots within 1 block of this area, but Ajisai is the top spot because of its cleanliness, service and nicely plated food. Our party ordered the sushi/ sashimi platter for 2, kalbi for appetizer, spicy salmon roll and Dynamite roll. Each of the rolls were plated well, sushi tasted fresh and not refrigerated, kalbi was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Ajisai had the hand wipes ready before our meal, bathroom was spotless and waitresses were attentive in making sure we were taken care of and our drinks were refilled. Place is a bit small with only a handful of tables. I'm going to try to come back for there sushi lunch combos.

  8. Very good sushi! Get the sashimi platter. The service and presentation is excellent. The decor, atmosphere, and plates are very nice. Clean!
