  1. The service was horrible. We were the only table in the restaurant and now I know why…. I ordered a large bottle of hot sake and there was a piece of trash floating in the bottle . When I sent it back, they offered another bottle for free. I told them I don't want a bottle after what I saw in the last one. Then they repeatedly lied to my face saying there was nothing in the bottle when there clearly was

  2. We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now and finally got around to it.  Service was on par, waiter was knowledgable and food runner was subtle in removing and placing food.

Food was good. Quality was superb! Fantastic rice to fish ratio ( where many sushi places fall short). They had a big variety of interesting rolls. One of our favorites was New York. Also the rolls were gigantic, we usually get two rolls a piece but we couldn't finish them. Also had a dozen oysters which were ok but only one type of oyster which was briny so won't get those next time.Another caveat was that saki menu was limited with 5 types…boo!

I wish they had a kids menu, my daughter purchased an entree and left most of it Bc it was too much food. The atmosphere is casual and being in Downtown Westfield there are tons of families…seems like a missed opportunity to do a cute bento box for the kids. Speaking of kids..If you have kids or are a kid at heart you have to try the soda..so neat with a marble inside the bottle!

The green tea was delicious! The owner offered us a dessert on the house, it had a beautiful presentation and was good.

The restaurant was handicap friendly, it was huge..my husband could literally do wheelies inside, I didn't ask him if he did them but just in case management if you read this sorry for the tire marks on the floor!:)

Would I come here again, yes yes and did I mention yes. Watch out Westfield sushi restaurants..you have some competition!

  3. This isn't my normal sushi restaurant review since I'm pregnant and can't have raw fish. Boo! But I still felt like I got a good feel for the restaurant.
I had made a reservation and they seated our group asap which was great. We started with edamame, tuna guacamole and wasabi pork dumplings. The edamame wasn't salted which I found disappointing – basically they just defrosted it and poured it in a bowl. The dumplings were good and had a nice kick. I couldn't try the guacamole though my tablemates enjoyed it. We all thought it was weird though that instead of giving us something like chips to dip in it they just gave everyone a spoon.

For my entree I went with an eel avocado roll and Alaskan roll (cooked salmon, cucumber and avocado). They do have an extensive list of special rolls, a lot of which looked interesting. My friends ordered the special rolls and cleared their plates. I have to say I was disappointed with mine. I felt there was too much rice in proportion to the filling and some of the pieces weren't rolled tightly enough so they fell apart.

Service was attentive – they were great about refilling our water glasses and all of the food came out promptly. Though it's called a lounge we were very happy that it wasn't noisy and trendy. The atmosphere is nice but if I want good sushi I'll stick to Mizu in Cranford.

  4. I strolled in on a Friday evening. Unfortunately, they do not have an happy hour special. I ordered two cocktails that the waitress suggested, and they were pretty flavorful, and they were not stingy on the alcohol. I ordered some type of beef appetizers and it was in a nice sweetened soy type sauce. It could have been a bit more tender, but it was still pretty good. The waitress was beyond helpful, and always checking in. I loved that they were playing r&b and hip hop. It was a pleasant yet shocking surprise. I liked this place, and would definitely come back and try more appetizer options- as they had quite a few to select from.
