I really enjoyed this place. I stopped by for brunch with my Mom and sisters. We were all kind of scattered and didn't show up together but the place was nearly empty and yet they still insisted that we all be together before being seated. This was the only bad thing that I had to say about this place.
Now to the good things. Alice's house tea is delicious. If I wasn't the only one paying for the meal and if it wasn't so pricey I would have had more than 2 pots. Thinking about it now, (after 2 weeks) it's still making my mouth water.
The food was tasty, the service was attentive and friendly. It's a great place to bring children. They give them little wings to wear on their backs and sprinkle some "fairy dust" on their hands.
Can't wait to go back for the tea . I'd also want to try their other chapters (locations) too.
Had a filling and fun breakfast here at Alices Tea Cup Chapter II. We tried the mad morning tea breakfast, which consisted of granola and eggs to share, 2 scones and 2 pots of tea. I tried the pai mu tan (a white tea from china, flowery and nice). I believe they have 101 different kinds of tea to offer. Overall, the food was good. The scones alone were pretty filling and I dont think I'll need to eat lunch. I tried the mixed berry (with clotted cream) as well as the ham and cheese (with butter).
The interior is well decorated just like the other two locations I've visited. We saw some little girls dressed up for the fairyland ish breakfast, which was cute. On a Friday morning, we had the upstairs all to ourselves for awhile before the place filled up (around 11am). I think this would be a fun place for groups of friends 🙂
YAY for Tea Shops!
I popped in here yesterday for research on an article I was writing. I'm 25 years old, and clearly look like an adult but since I was writing an article for kids I maybe sortof INSISTED they treat me as such.
The staff was so sweet and took it in stride, which is so great cus that means I got to wear FAIRY WINGS for the duration of the entire meal AND when I arrived they sprinkled "fairy dust" over my head and told me to make a wish.
I won't tell you what my wish was but lets just say I expect certain famous hunk will be arriving on my doorstep ANY MINUTE.
I got the jabberwocky which is a BUTTload of food. Three large pots of tea, unlimited scones and sandwiches and an assortment of sweet treats!
The tea was FANTASTIC. We got Alice's Tea, some Organic Ginger Peach tea, and a Champange White tea that had other things I cant remember….But that one was def. my favorite one.
Of the sandwiches we tried, I will list them in order of fav to least: BLT, Ham and Gruyere, Smoked Chicken Breast, Curried Chicken Salad, Cucumber and Watercress. I'm not sure how the sandwiches are prepared but its possible to get more or less of the incredients in certain portions. For example, each sandwich comes in three smaller pieces, the BLT had one piece heavy in bacon but no cheese, one mostly tomato, and one low on tomato. It is a LOT of bread and after my first sandwich I took to either taking the top piece off and eating it open face or just leaving bits of bread around on my plate.
The scones were great, went with Ham&Cheese, Pumpkin, and Banana, not too dry and went well with the jam/clotted cream!
As for desserts I was so full at that point but I only have nice things to say about the mocha chocolate chip cake situation, the frosting is something like my mother used to make and it REALLY brings me back. Loved it!
The atmosphere is SO so cute. Loved the upstairs area, gets GREAT light and you can sit next to the window. There are paintings and quotes all over the walls and the china is adorably mismatched in perfect Mad Hatter Tea Party style.
I was told when they do parties they have characters come in and face painters etc so it's got to be SO so cute for that. And they have perfectly proportioned foods and teas for the little tiny ones. Great spot for Mother's Day coming up too!
All in all, will go again. Maybe by myself just for a spot of tea. The food is a LITTLE bland, but there are lots of menu options I'm sure I'll find something I like a lot more. Staff was so so great and helpful when it came to picking out teas and foods.
I had a Travelzoo voucher for the Mad Hatter evening tea. I went with the bf on a Wednesday night around 6 pm. You definitely should make a reservation. We were seated upstairs and our server was friendly.
We ordered the ham and cheese, the pumpkin glazed and the almond joy scones. For tea sandwiches, we got the salmon and the chicken lapsong. And with the cookies, we got the lemon tart.
The variety of teas was crazy. We ordered an Oolong tea that i really enjoyed. The Rooibos was pretty good too. I thought the signature Alice tea was unmemorable.
Ham and cheese scone was the clear winner as a savory scone. The almond joy was sweet and chocolatey but just okay. We had an issue with the pumpkin scone but the server was great in trying to reconcile the problem.
I wasn't a fan of either tea sandwiches. The chicken with the goat cheese tasted very medicine-y. We were pretty full on tea but tried a bite of the lemon tart. I was not a fan.
Came late afternoon. The decor is just okay, not cute whatever. Coffee and tea are average,
So are these scones. The name is fancier than the food and the place itself. Maybe other locations maybe better. Anyway, it doesn't match the hype and the fame it has. Surprisingly, the service isn't bad at all in contrast to those Yelp reviews.
After a long flight, many tears and feeling homesick I stumbled into this cute cafe. Walk down the stairs into a fun tea room themed restaurant and place settings adorned with tea cups. Warm Chamomile calmed my nerves and welcomed me to the big city. I was longing for some comfort so I jumped to the children's menu and got a PB&J on banana bread. Yes, you read that right. The raspberry jam was a bit too sweet for me and the banana bread was cut a bit too thick, but it was fun having something like dessert for dinner. My mother got the B.L.T. and that was fantastic – the bread was crisp and thin and I would definitely order it again. Is it fancy food in an upscale location? No. It's comfortable, simple and yummy. Just come to hang out and have fun, bring your children.
I guess this is where Eloise hangs out when she's not at the plaza..Very cute concept, but when I was a little girl I was having a backyard BBQ for my birthday and eating hot dogs.
I can't deny this is a very cute concept. The fairy dust sprinkling and butterfly wings was adorable. But, I was just trying to get a nice Sunday breakfast in the upper east side. The place itself ifs cool I guess, kinda gloomy and weird for little kids. I was expecting something brighter and less grandma looking from a place that is inspired by Alice and Wonderland. The staff also looked like they just got back from a very late night of clubbing and selling drugs off the corner(interesting staff choice for a kids place).
To be honest, I'm giving this place 3 stars because my breakfast was GORGEOUS. It was the prettiest crepe I've ever seen. It tasted very good, but was it worth $14? Absolutely not. My friend got a tiny scone with poached eggs and hash browns for $18…it was absurd.
Overall, I got a weird vibe from this place. I don't know if this is somewhere I would take my future children. Although the presentation of the food was beautiful, everything else was kind of a flop. I honestly don't know why I came here, but it was weird. Won't be coming back but at least I got a pretty picture of the crepes.
Came here to use a Groupon. (2 cocktails and $10 dessert credit). It was valid for any 2 cocktails and $10 worth of desserts from the "sweet treats" section.
I went with Alice's take on the bloody Mary aka the "Red Queen". It was the most intense version of the drink I've ever had. Infused with lapsang souchong tea, it tasted like liquid charcoal. Bitterly earthy. Not bad but too overwhelming and I stopped after sipping through half the jar.
For food, we order the assorted cookie platter. All 8 cookies were good but adding a cup of ice cream on the side (+$3) takes them to another level.
At Alice's Tea cup, it's one of those experiences where the staff outshines the food. It started from the knowledgeable girl helping a customer in the front with a tea purchase to our wonderful waitress (Libby I believe). I would give 5 stars just for her bubbly personality and service.
