ALIDORO

“Typically I will go with the Alyssa add some porchetta, hot spread, eggplant capono, always on a stirato bread…”

“I'm excited to try more of their medleys, particularly the Il Soprano and the Pinocchio.”

“I had the Fiorello (mortadella, fresh mozzarella, caponata of eggplant) on Stirato bread (long, baguette-shaped with a light brown crust with a sourbread, nutty aftertaste).”

  1. Dear Alidoro,

I will gladly come back and pay $12.50 for a porchetta sandwich (plus an extrea $1 for semolina) and deal with the panicked and insane lunch rush if your staff will make the sandwich properly. There is no cheese on this thing.

  2. Breakdown: Solid Italian Sandwiches

Great lunch spot in Midtown Manhattan. I ordered a Pinnochio sandwich with prosciutto, sopressata, fresh mozzarella, sweet roasted peppers, and olive paste. The sandwich is a little pricey and the drinks even more but the food is solid. I also suggest getting one of their brownies because they're good.

  3. I was scrolling through my Instagram today, and saw a picture of a sandwich from this place (I follow a lot of foodie accounts) and was like "I need that sandwich." So I walked an hour to get there and was not at all disappointed. Walking in, it's a pleasant upscale Italian deli with a hipster vibe. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the Lucia, which was fantastic. There are so many options, so it took me awhile to select it. I must come back so I can try every single sandwich on that list. Though simple, their sandwiches are rich in flavor and exactly what you want. I brought my sandwich to Bryant Park, just around the corner, and had a perfect lunchtime experience. You must try this place!

  4. Picture this: Went for lunch at Alidoro. Ordered the Pinocchio sandwich. The counter server suggested the crusty bread, and that it was really tasty on the heated sandwiches. I took her recommendation and also asked for sun-dried tomatoes added to my sandwich. Got all the way to Bryant Park to eat outside on this gorgeous day, opened the sandwich that I was oh so looking forward to, and the rug was swept right from under me. The bread was hard as a rock, the sandwich was not heated, and the sun-dried tomatoes that I paid extra for were not on the sandwich. Alas, Friday lunch was ruined. This day officially sucks now.

  5. Looking for a super tasty food baby to slug down on your lunch break in midtown?! Look no further that alidoro! This place has choices galore and as much as you think you can't eat the other half of the ginormous sandwich you ordered, you do because it's so damn good.

I went with the fratelli d'italia, so many flavors going on. So good. Really liked the hot spread and how it mixed with the pesto. My bf got the Gregorio and it really lived up to the claim of "very spicy". The mozzarella here is also on point.

This place had a solid crowd for lunch, but the guys behind the counter were like a well oiled machine- we didn't wait more than 5-7 mins for our order.

  6. Take note: these are no ordinary sandwiches.

These are gourmet Italian sandwiches made with the freshest and tastiest ingredients. There are a lot of choices, each one more tempting than the last, so take a minute to peruse the menu before ordering. On my first visit, I ordered the Brando, which is served hot and comes with smoked chicken breast, provolone cheese, sweet roasted peppers and arugula. It was delish. How delish? I intended to eat half of it and save the other half for dinner, but the first half was so good, the second half just had to follow.

I don't think these are expensive at $12-$13 a pop because you get a sandwich the size of a whole baguette. At other places, you'd pay that much for a sandwich half the size, here you get a foot-long sandwich made with quality ingredients. They use the best meats and cheeses like prosciutto and fresh mozzarella. Interior is quaint with communal tables. Service is friendly. Great Midtown lunch spot.

  7. Great sandwich. I tried Alidoro sandwich and it was pretty nice but the spicy sauce was not spread evenly so I only started enjoying my sandwich as I reached half sandwich mark! I was supposed to share it with my wife who was at the time working her way through Il Soprano. I put up a good fight to protect the other half of Alidoro as didn't like the sweetness in Soprano. Overall a pleasant lunch with my wife during our work break. Great success! 🙂

  8. I'm still reeling from the sandwich I just had from Alidoro.  I've never been so disappointed by a sandwich, especially after stalking it out for so long.  The sandwiches definitely photo well.

I ordered the Galileo (prosciutto and fresh mozzarella) via Eat 24 (hot).  Perhaps this was my mistake since the pick up time was 60-90 mins.  I got there after about 30 mins just to check out the place and to hope that it would be quicker to make.  When I arrive, the place was a madhouse.  The lunch rush was crazy.  Everyone was working hard.  I check my order status and apparently it was 15 min pick up time not 60-90 mins.  This would have been nice..if my hot sandwich hadn't been sitting around for an extra 15 mins.  The sandwich is super super super salty.  The portion is great though, for the price.  I just wasn't able to enjoy it.
