This place is very cute. The kitchen closes around 3:30 (so right after the brunch rush), but we arrived around 3:20 something. The hostess was kind enough to sit us and we ordered quickly.
The place is cute and just like most places in Williamsburg it does not believe in ac. haha
The service was good. The place was relatively empty by the time we got our food.
Much better than waiting 45 minutes for a table at Sweet Chick.
I had the two eggs with sausage. The sausage was definitely on the salty side.
The toast slices that came with my order were thick and nicely toasted. My friend had the avocado toast and she was pretty happy with her food. It look fresh and came with poached eggs on top.
We were stuffed and were able to sit there for a while. Happy hour begins at 4 and we really considered it, but we were full. The deals seem pretty good, and the specials of the day are nicely written on the chalkboard.
Loved the little wallpaper and the colors. This is a chill place. Would definitely consider coming back.
Originally I would have given this place 5 stars– But I went back last week and had the worst experience ever! Please note that the minus of stars was due to the lack of respect from the staff and the nasty attitude they provided to us and the other people at the restaurant at the time.
Food:
-Great Cinnamon toast
-Alocado toast– Delicious
-The crispy chicken is Great– Must try!
-I love the clam chowder
-They also have mazing fries!
The only reason I come to this place is due to the great food– The wait time is always long and you can never make reservations– Which is fine most places don't do reservations. I have had a couple incidents were I had my name on the list and people that come 20 mins after me have been seated before– I figured maybe they left and came back but then I noticed that sometimes the people now the staff and they get priority.
The incident that had last week pissed me off– I was waiting with my friends to be seated I saw that there were 5 names before ours. Low and behold we were next and walks in a couple that were seated automatically– I ask the staff why and they lied to my face that they have been waiting. At this point we said we will not be suckered into being mistreated. We didn't appreciate being mistreated– I hope the staff either changes their attitude or the owner changes the staff otherwise this place will not last and a lot of people will not be happy– The food is great but worth the experience.
Came here for a week day lunch with a friend. It was pretty empty with nice service and reasonable prices. We got the artichoke sandwich which was delicious. Especially the focaccia bread it comes on. My friend lives in the neighborhood and she says she comes at night to the bar there too. Overall solid low key spot for friends to meet.
Yummers brunch was had here. I was completely surprised by the poached egg, avocado and roasted fennel on toast situation. It was exactly the cold weather brunch I was looking for. Completely recommend that.
I was disappointed that the "French press coffee" = a diner mug half filled with maybe 1/3 c. of lukewarm coffee chucked on my table for $3.
And I found all of the seating really uncomfortable. We started at the bar, where the wooden stools were super hard and precarious. At the cafe tables, which were close together, the chairs (I sat on the outside row) were made of the same plywood. Not a deal breaker but if anyone has any hip injuries (raises hand sadly) or travels w olds it will be uncomfortable for you/them.
Also we were at the bar waiting for fifteen minutes for a table and no one even offered us a drink menu or acknowledged us. Everyone's loss, I guess.
The food made up for the flaws in service. A solid 3 1/2 stars.
One of my favorite places in Brooklyn. The food is amazing… I love the burger and the kale salad in particular. The burger is just so juicy (it melts in your mouth) and the fries are always salty and perfect. The kale salad has some sort of magical cheese component. The broiled oysters are also awesome. I like to get their whiskey cocktail whenever I come. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food. It always feels very intimate and the service is usually friendly and reasonably quick. The wallpaper is fantastic as a side note… what else… oh, it gets pretty busy on weekend nights but usually during the week it's easy to pop in. Enjoy the burger!!!
We cam here late after a full day of drinking and shopping and it was so perfect! We were in the front corner table and had two full dozen oysters (YUM) and the fries were the best fries I've had in a long time AND at the end when we wanted the burger and remaining food to go, the waiter was super fast in accommodating us! The champagne was also great and the people were eclectic and friendly! We will go back for sure!!
Excellent breakfast spot. Really I have no complaints. Everything was wonderful. I ordered the "biscuits and gravy" – biscuits, gravy, 2 sunny side up eggs, and chili. WHAT a combo. I was skeptical but also in the mood to try something new. It was delicious, perfectly portioned, and beautifully presented. My friend had 2 eggs over medium with sourdough toast and bacon. It came with apple butter – best apple-anything ever. We were feeling ambitious that morning and also ordered the pecan pancake to share. The pecans are only on top and the pancake is huge. The menu is a bit limited but they still offer all your breakfast essentials and they do it very well.
Service was great. Our server was polite, gracious, and attentive throughout the entire meal. We took a while to order and stayed longer than normal but he was still great even as the restaurant became more crowded. The set up is very cute, rustic, and welcoming but also what you'd expect from the area (Williamsburg). Not a bad thing. I'd come back for either breakfast or not breakfast. Try it.
Looking for a cozy and comfortable place to get away from the crowds on Bedford? Take a break at Allswell for drinks or a meal. This is an intimate room with the bar and sit down area all in one. The decor of wood paneling and vintage wallpaper makes you feel like you're in a cottage or pub somewhere far away.
As for the food-I can recommend the crispy chicken sandwich which is a generous serving and very juicy. They also have a local selection of beers on tap and in bottle.
Conveniently located a few blocks off the Bedford L stop. Highly recommended for a relaxed visit in Willimsburg.
