Almondine Bakery

“I would love to come back for their almond croissant because I haven't found many places that make French style croissants.”

“The macaron shells are a little chewier than I like (I prefer the slightly drier ones at Madeleine's on 23rd).”

  1. A cute French bakery in Dumbo. It's a small cafe but with delicious pastries and strong coffee.

I remember not seeing a menu so I just decided to go with black coffee to make it simple. We got almond croissants and some other croissant that had cheese or something.

It's overpriced, but it's NY. Haha what do you expect.

  2. ****This review is only for the macarons!

I came here very excited as I had heard that the Macarons are some of the best. It was a work friends birthday so I stopped here early to buy a bunch.

    Good news:

The person who helped me was so lovely and pleasant.
The Macarons are delicious BUT there is a problem and that could have just been the one time I went.

    Bad News:

The delicious and expensive macarons I bought definitely are tasty however they also tasted of fridge and smelled like fridge it was so strong in fact that my work friend commented on it as well as everyone else who tried one at work. I called to just let them know and the gentleman I spoke with was very rude as If i was asking for a refund, the guy was either having a bad day or was a douche who knows?

Either way I'd be willing to give this place another shot it took me a while to come around and leave a review since I had forgotten this place. But for what its worth it looks like this place does some other good things.

  3. Passion fruit cake..tasty and delicious.
Had to be order ahead of time. I had a difficult time ordering over the phone, there is no way to order online, which is sad because it would make it easier for people to order.  I was told over the phone that they only take orders Mon- Fri and they do not hold cakes. Their cake display had very  limited choices. This is my second cake, they have a good quality product, lack customer service and engagement. I am not sure if i will order again but overall they just need to get their customer service together otherwise more customers will not be returning.

  4. Their cakes are on point. Great for a special occasion. $34 as of this writing.  Will be back to try more things!

  5. Their Almond Croissant is one of the BEST I've had.  I also tried their Croque Madame and it was also good.  The only downside was that their coffee was quite bitter.  But their pastry more than makes up for this downfall 😉

  6. Venue – Cute bakery with some table seating.

Desserts – so many to choose from!

Cheesecake – Topped with fruits and macaron. Great flavor with good consistency and texture. One of the best cheesecakes I've had.

Chocolate Vanilla – Can't go wrong with two classic flavors in one.

The owner gave each table a complimentary chocolate lava cake, which was hot and delicious, and devoured immediately.

They also have coffee and tea.

  7. Lovely little cafe to have an unpretentious breakfast of croissants and delicious savory quiche.  It is mere steps away from a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge (and Empire State Building) at the intersection of Water and Washington, and only a few blocks away from the bridge's pedestrian footpath.

  8. This beautiful, small bakery/patisserie has a lot to offer. I found this place to buy a birthday cake and was pleasant to know that they also have some pastries, whole bread, sandwiches and drinks.

    Location and interior:
Located in the heart of Dumbo. It's a small place with not many tables, I think four tables and a couple of bar seats.

    Food:
Croissant – goodness gracious! I was surprised when I took the first bite. The delightful initial crispy bite followed by airy and not too heavy/buttery inside. Highly recommended.

Chocolate Raspberry Cake – the whole cake was around $30, but it was worth it. Beautifully decorated and deliciously rich.

Eclair – it was okay. A little mushy for my taste.

    * I'm so gonna try their Quiche and sandwiches.
