  1. This review is only for drinks, but it is a great spot! This was my first spot using the Queens Beer Book. Bartenders were friendly, offered tastes of the beers and kept the water glasses full. Nice selection of local beers and good whiskey selection as well. We couldn't resist trying the quinoa whiskey as well. Looked like they had some good classic cocktails as well. Loved the decor, great old timey looking bar plus a hook at every bar stool. Will definitely be Address is 341 Hickory Ct Apopka FL 32712!

  2. It is a nice ambiance but it is way too expensive and pretentious for what they offer. I wasn't impressed. I had pasta dish that had too much green peas in it. Given that I just came back from Italy that was just mediocre pasta dish. Wine and popcorn was good. I'll probably won't go back.

  3. I have been here few times with my boyfriend, just for drinks a few bite/appetizer snacks, and we really enjoyed.

The atmosphere and the overall rustic design is really welcoming. Service is great, servers are nice, and food is delicious.

Last week I went in with a couple of friends that want to eat a proper meal, or a burger, and I realized this is not such a place. Dishes that are not appetizers are expensive, and portions are small. We ended up just drinking few beers and go somewhere else.

In general I really like this restaurant, but it's definitely not for hungry customers. It's a yes for aperitivo, drinks and shared bites.

I still have to try their brunch thou, which seems pretty amazing!

  4. Very pricey, but great for ambiance and service. I came here for dinner. Small plates (you'd probably have to eat 2 to be full) cost ~$15, large plates (eat 1.5 to be full) are ~$25.

Small plates – we got the steamed PEI mussels (tasted pretty standard like any other mussels. Honestly, I've never figured out how mussels can be dressed up to be amazing tasting). Also got the Sangria Braised Octopus, which I really enjoyed, and Heirloom Cherry Tomato Salad, which I was meh about because it's salad and wasn't anything spectacular.

For large plates, we got  the Berkshire Pork Schnitzel, which was ok as far as schnitzel goes but a little dry and not authentic (if you were looking for authentic). Overall, the meal came out to ~$75 for 2 people. It's a good once in a while option if you're looking for something nice, but the taste wasn't overwhelmingly good for me to come here often.

  5. After coming to the elite event I swore I would come back, well we came to brunch and it didn't disappoint. Had a great Belgian sour and an interesting take on huevos rancheros. We also had the club sandwich which was also very good.

  6. Very delicious restaurant. These guys really know how to do meat, although I must say one of my all time faves here is the mushroom toast.  Went for brunch recently and the pork and grits was really satisfying. Service is pretty good, but a little hit or miss depending on the server.

  7. So far this has been my favorite restaurant in LIC, would definitely recommend.
    I came here for dinner.

The restaurant is beautiful and I don't think that they have designated waiters, since everybody was taking care of us, which made the experience better.

I had a burger and it was good but not really spectacular. I had a really good salad on the side. I would say the burger was simple but you could tell that they had use good ingredients.

I also had a toast with egg and mushrooms and that one was spectacular. I thought it was really delicious.

Another thing worth noticing is that they told me they overcooked my burger so they had to re-do it (I honestly didn't think I waited that long). So they gave us complementary popcorn with caramel and bacon. That was also really yummy. I loved how the flavors combined, really good combo, just don't let it sit, it gets greasy and gross.

    I will definitely come back

  8. A pretty nice restaurant bar on Vernon Blvd. We came here for a family brunch, after trying LIC Market and being turned away by a 1 hr wait. My sister noted that it was never crowded at Alobar, and it's easy to see why, as the space is pretty ample. There were a lot of other families with small children in there as well, although there were also a number of tables that were empty. After we left however, the place really started to fill up.

We were quickly seated, and ordered pretty quickly as well, since my dad HATES waiting. I ordered the chicken BLT, which was excellent, and came piled with a good amount of thick-cut, crispy bacon. The chicken breast was also incredibly juicy and it was all accompanied with a mound of hand-cut, super crispy fries. I also tried the pig and grits, which was pretty rich and delicious, and the pork was extra tender. We had heard good things about the maple bacon popcorn, but decided to forgo, as my nephew couldn't eat things like that, and it was better to keep those types of foods away from his sight, lest he get jealous, ha.

Service was great, and was very helpful by going out of his way to get an extra high chair for my nephew, after most of them were taken by other infants in the restaurant. Prices for lunch were pretty reasonable, with my chicken BLT with fries only being about $14. I don't know if that's more expensive in the realm of LIC, but as a Manhattanite, I'll go for a quality chicken BLT and fries at that price any day.

I usually spend my Saturday mornings with the fam in LIC, and it's good to know there's a solid place for comfort food on Vernon. I'm actually surprised that it's never that crowded, like LIC Market or Cafe Henri, but I guess they don't really push the brunch as much as they push the dinner/bar scene. Don't know if I'll ever be back to try their crafted cocktails, but I will likely be back for a casual family brunch or dinner.
