  1. Quick and affordable breakfast.

Some seating is available. Things can get disorganized. It's usually busy in the mornings. Employees are quick. Their bagels aren't the best I have ever tasted but still quite good. They have a variety of breakfast sandwiches as well. The bread is fresh and soft. I appreciate that the eggs are fluffy and seasoned well.

If you're looking for a no frills breakfast joint that won't hurt your wallet, Al's is your place.

  2. This is Al's – it's a deli across the street.

What i REALLY REALLY REALLY like here are the burritos.  They're very genuine and IMHO (in my humble opinion) better than the other chain burrito places (not going to name names, but you know who i'm talking about).  The burrito is filled quite well and they toss salsa and cheese on top and give you rice on the side as well.

The Flavors work well with each other – but it's also a Deli – they have a TON of food you'd find just about everywhere in NY – but they do it pretty good.  Grilled Cheese with bacon and a pickle is always good – philly cheese steak isn't bad and their salads are pretty enormous.

Prices will range from 4 bucks to around 10 depending on how much you get.  It's not a bad deli.  You can order practically whatever you want.  It's always busy too – so that should tell you it's not a bad place!  As far as i know it's been here for years and seems like it'll stay for a while.  Go To Al's!

  3. 3 dollar grilled cheese. 4 dollar pasta. The food is decent and the prices are awesome. They also have sandwiches, a small buffet food section, tacos, quesadillas, burgers, chips, soda, fruit, and some basic snacks. They also serve breakfast (pancakes, eggs) and will serve it to you after breakfast hours (sweet!) And they have some cheap combos that will include chips and a cookie. But- they close a bit early, 8pm last I checked, so bummer.

I usually come here in the evening on my break, and theres never a line. The cashier girl is always rushing me, even when I'm the only one there. But they're still plesant- so I'm a happy customer.

  4. Quick n dirty are two simple words I would describe this place.  I first came and ordered a sausage egg and cheese on whole wheat toast.  It was bland and unseasoned – $2.99 or $3.60 with tax.  Afterwhich I noticed that a sausage egg and cheese on an english muffin was only $1.99 as their special.  I had that today and again – bland as the cooks don't season the sandwiches.  After giving the woman $2.20, I realized that they had been over charging me and all the patrons by inflating the tax.  Wow.

  5. I come here everyday but not for me, for someone else, full disclosure here. Als isn't a place that you come across town for. I would imagine that everyone that comes here works no more than three blocks away. It's a place of convenience. I cringe when I see people making specific requests of the guys behind the grill. This place runs like a machine and these guys thrive on efficiency. Don't slow these guys down with your requests to get butter on both sides of your sandwich.

  6. I have been here twice on my way to the office. I got the NYC standard… Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a roll. This place is super busy and super fast. The sandwich was OK nothing great, but it does the job.

  7. It's always between Al's and Dali's for me. Sometimes if I'm too lazy to walk across the street to Dali's, I'll come to Al's.

I have to admit, I ALWAYS come to Al's for breakfast. My usual order is a sausage, egg and cheese on a roll. They make it quick and its super affordable, I believe its around $3.00

When you order sandwiches for lunch, PAY UP FRONT! They give you a free bag of Lays chips. I love the chicken fajita wrap!

The salads are good here! (Cheaper than Dali's and you get unlimited toppings)

Sometimes when you go during the lunch rush hour, its a blood bath!!!!

But be patient! Don't be a prestigious jerk who is complaining and yelling at the workers. Remember that they have tons of orders to fill. You can wait 5 minutes for your sandwich.

The staff are always pleasant, which is a bonus!

Oh yea! I tried their smoothie once… meh.. I wouldn't recommend those. Next time I should just take that walk to Penn Station to Jamba Juice.

  8. The only reasons I came here was because everything else was closed, and I was hungry. I didn't want fast food, and I didn't want canned soup from Duane Reade, so I decided to give Al's Deli a try.
I would like to know who Al is and why his cooking isn't that good. Everything looked so greasy and unappetizing. I settled for a chicken flat bread sandwich. The sandwich looked as if it was going to come apart when the guy picked it up, so he had to use 2 hands. He heated it up, and gave me a bag of chips. I think it was $6.50.
I threw it in my bad and it survived the hour PATH ride after. Perhaps the PATH was so warm that my food was still warm after an hour.
It didn't taste good. The bread was soft and soggy. The chicken inside had way too much mayo, and some of the chicken pieces were rather tough to chew. I ended up heating up a box of leftover rice from Chinese take out, and throwing the chicken on top. Even then, it still wasn't good but tasted slightly better.
