  1. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday because he had to go into the office and I got a little hangry while waiting for him. I was really craving something with soy sauce and the advertisement for $15 brunch with a beer, appetizer, entree, and soup or salad intrigued us. We went in and the place was empty! There was one other customer.

The waitress told us we could sit wherever we'd like and brought us some waters. We ordered the same thing: chicken broccoli with brown rice, salad, and vegetable dumplings. Everything was cooked well, and they used the perfect amount of sauce on the chicken broccoli.

They had a great selection of drinks and the ambiance was nice. They had Korean pop playing in the background but not too loudly.

  2. Intimate setting, but still enjoyed some drinks and wings. I'm guilty, I broke my 5 years of vegetarianism for some hot wings. I'm ashamed.

Anywho the wings were so freaking good. The sauce wasn't too hot or too sweet it was just a perfect combo.

The price? Reasonable. Cleanliness? Very clean, even the unisex restroom. Vibe? Pleasant.

Amaze does tend to get busy, from what I've seen walking by.

I recommend trying the wings and grabbing a nice cold brew.

  3. Trusty lunch spot with co-workers when you want to eat out but don't want to spend mucho $$$. Lunch specials are ridiculously reasonably priced. I basically get crispy shredded beef every single time I come here because it is delightful.

  4. have really enjoyed myself both times i was here. place has two floors so even though there were plenty of large groups already eating, my parties were seated pretty quickly both times.  sushi list is pretty expansive (my dad raved about the nasdaq roll), and it didn't cost a fortune for a nicer beer which was nice. my sister really liked her sesame chicken and thai style fried rice (they offered it a few ways). good spot, glad i have it so close.

  5. Was introduced to this place by a coworker. We went around 12:30pm with a huge crowd all waiting to be seated. We waited for about 10 minutes before being taken upstairs to a table by the stairs.

My colleague and I picked two dishes from lunch menu with reasonable prices, shrimp red curry and vegetable red curry that come with soups of our choices. I ordered hot and sour soup which tasted mediocre whereas my coworker who ordered wanton soup complained about her soup tasting disgusting.

After the unpleasant soup experience, we waited for our main entree for at least half an hour before we realized that our waitress had completely forgotten about our orders- what a waste of our time during an already short lunch break! The head waitress came to apologize about their negligence and assured that our food would be ready soon. 10 minutes later, we finally got to taste our entree and found it to be just as disappointing as the soup. THE food simply tasted too plain, contradictory to the golden principle upheld by any great Asian restaurant- spicy, flavorful and more spicy! In addition, the shrimps tasted not so fresh either which made me feel a little nauseous at work now. Hopefully I will be able to make it through this long-ass meeting 😛

Anyway, not a huge fan of this place and wouldn't recommend it to my Asian fellas.

  6. Decided to take out from Amaze on Tuesday for lunch and I'm EXTREMELY disappointed. The sushi tasted so awful and not ediable that I had to throw it out. I wasted $11 dollars on a lunch that went in the garbage. It honestly tasted as if there were so many extra ingredients and debatably another type of fish combined into this roll. Maybe the fish wasn't fresh? I ordered two spicy tuna avocado rolls and got rolls that tasted similar to salmon, but couldn't even figure it out. This experience with Amaze was so upsetting/awful that I will never have sushi from Amaze again. Upsetting considering they're right near my office.

  7. Oh man – for lunch on a weekday, this restaurant is one of the best in Midtown.

I have been here twice and asked for seating upstairs – it's a little quieter and well-air conditioned.

The service here is good, but don't be afraid to ask for something – they are very busy and don't keep a keen eye on needing water/a straw/ a fork/the bill. That being said, the lunch special is hard to beat. Twice, I have ordered the lunch bento box with tempura. You get both soup (miso) and salad, 3 shumai, 3 California roll pieces, wasabi/ginger, white or brown rice, and 2 pieces of shrimp tempura and 3 veggie tempura. It's a lot of food and costs…. $9. Yup, you gotta go here.
My friend first ordered the Red Curry with brown rice and chicken, which was good but the portions were small. Second time around, he ordered the salmon Bento. Same as mine, but the small piece of salmon was smothered in teriyaki, which he didn't prefer. I'm sure you can ask for less sauce, we know that now. Also, unless you specify you want brown rice, they bring white.

The servers here are quick, and like to get you in and out of their seats quickly as well. We didn't feel rushed per se – it made sense they wanted to clear tables, but there wasn't a wait so we took our time. That said, when you are in a rush, they aren't offended at you wanting to move things along quickly – that explains why this place is popular with the Midtown worker crowd.

Would like to return for a dinner/brunch meal to see if the quality and price are still AMAZEing. (haha, couldn't help myself).

  8. I know this is one of Anna H's favorite lunch spots, but after being spoiled by Mapo Tofu, I can't give it more than 3 stars. The food is a bit too bland for my taste – I know, I know… mama always says that I have to go easy on the sodium but .. dayummmmm, when I'm getting Chinese food, chill with the health talk.

I ordered (for delivery) a Thai basil chicken and some spicy dumplings (not for me, but I tried one). Neither were that great, and in fact, I think the thai basil chicken got me a bit sick. I was nauseous towards the end of the day after having had half the plate. There was also very few pieces of chicken. Perhaps the main chef was out that day, but I'm inclined to put this towards the end of my rotation list of Chinese restaurants near my office.
