  1. I don't know how this place is still in existence, much less so highly rated on Yelp. I stayed away from here after my first lackluster experience since there are so many-SO MANY other options to choose from. I got wrangled into lunch here with my coworkers. They all got burgers of some sort and I went with the chili.

Our waitress who seemed harried and stressed out came to check on us to say that the burgers are 'on their way.' I get it, burgers can take some time to cook.

What she meant was that the burgers were LITERALLY on their way. Apparently their truck was stuck in traffic and after about 25 minutes she offered us the option of swapping out a turkey patty instead of a regular patty.

I never got my food, as I walked out I told them to cancel it and left since I didn't have time anymore and was hangry for the rest of the day.

If you physically don't have food to serve you've failed as a restaurant.

  2. Ordered here this a.m. and got food in 20 minutes.  Not only were they fast, but it was hot and cooked!  I ordered a grilled cheese with american and swiss on rye.  It was warm and a nice golden brown color.  I just wish it was a bit cheesier and little more well done, but I think that's a personal preference.  I also got the french fries, were the perfect diner size…not to thin and not to thick.  I will definitely order from here again!

  3. What a great find right around the corner from our hotel! I had rib eye steak with baked potato, my family members all had good meal choices with excitement about breakfast ….sunny side up eggs being available at 4 pm, but know this restaurant closes at 5 pm….and to our disappointment it is closed on Sunday!
Staff here were friendly, all food was good and we could hear each other talk so the noise level was great.

  4. I'm on the search for some Eggs Benedict, but not at a poncy place where it costs limbs and waits eons.  A place I could go and take a west coasters pace and write and sip coffee without the moans and scoffs and huffs and puffs of impatience.

    Anyway.

I came here on a Monday before lunchtime.  Just made it in time for breakfast.  The Benedict was just what I wanted.  Not overly fussy and garnished with nonsense.  The Hollandaise sauce was really good and the eggs were poached to perfection!  If anything burns my piss to the umpteenth degree it's over-poached eggs.

    Well done, Amelia.  Well done.

  5. Just a diner in TriBeCa. Nothing too special. I order a grilled chicken panini in the lunch special menu with a side of sweet potato fries. My sister ordered eggs with cheese, turkey sausages and potatoes.

The only thing I like was the sweet potato fries, eggs, and sausages. The sweet potato was crispy, eggs was fluffy and the sausages were like any other sausages. You can't ever go wrong with breakfast food anyways. But I didn't like how they didn't inform us that they didn't have potatoes and instead served us fries on the breakfast that we ordered. The grilled chicken panini wasn't too memorable. It was really dry and there's nothing in it but cheese and some tomato sauce. I didn't like it at all.

At the end of our meal, the waiter schemingly charged us an extra dollar for our meal. You know how they do it in sketchy diners. This is why you need to check your bills before paying.

  6. I have never been served this quickly in NYC.

Stopped by during my lunch hour and ordered the California wrap ($7.75 and came with a pickle and small side of cole slaw)–and I kid you not–the plate was in front of me in maybe 3 minutes.

Pretty sure The Flash is working in the kitchen, so check it out if you want some good food made by a super hero.

  7. I stopped in here on the way into work a couple weeks ago to get a quick bite to eat.  I found a spot at the bar and ordered coffee, OJ, and a bagel with cream cheese.  The guy yellin' out orders to the kitchen told me that if I was going to use a card it'd be an extra $10.  Luckily when I checked out this wasn't the case.

No menus to speak of, or the guy just didn't care.  You just sorta order diner basics I guess.  Service was quick if brash.  The best part was definitely the freshly squeezed orange juice.

  8. Bias: This was literally the first place we stopped at after a 10 hour drive from NC throughout the night so anywhere that served warm food was bound to get at least a few stars.

Living in the south, it's pretty hard to find a good New England style diner like I grew up with– and Amelia's fit the bill! It's a really nice family-owned restaurant tucked between Soho and Tribeca.

Compared to similar restaurants, it was very run of the mill. Typical decor, typical service and typical food. It was good, but nothing to write home about. I would recommend stopping by if you're in the area looking for some breakfast!
