  1. Really nice atmosphere! I have been to the one downtown multiple times, and wanted a bar atmosphere for dinner and game watching this past Saturday night. It was loud and very crowded, which I expected, but the service didn't suffer to badly!

I ordered nachos for dinner, and they were pretty good. The chicken was a bit chewy so next time I would order without the meat. Reasonable prices, the drafts were $5-7 and you could get pitchers for $22-30. Seems like a decent bar to watch games during the day and of course at night. Will be back.

  2. Loved the time spent there!! Always looking for new places in the area we came here for brunch. The waitress was super friendly and helpful with the menu. I had ordered the buffalo burger minus the onions (that still came out with onions). The burger was cooked medium to my liking. I am not a fan of when I asked for things and they come differently. However the place has strongbow cider on tap which I love!! I also ordered a to die for Irish coffee!! Which they had no whip cream and whipped some up just for me!

  3. Came here on a Sunday with my roommates for lunch and I think this might be one of my new favorite bars in the area! It's brand new with a ton of space but also a very cozy feel. It seems like the perfect place for really any type of occasion (brunch, dinner, happy hour, a night out, etc.). They also have enormous televisions scaling the walls, so it would be a great location to watch a game. There is a boozy brunch special on weekends where you get any item on the brunch menu plus unlimited mimosas and bloody marys for $30. I am more of a lunch person so I decided not to do the special and go with the Amity Burger. It was awesome – a burger topped with blue cheese, crispy onions and hot sauce! They also have a nice selection of ciders, which I appreciated as a die-hard cider fan. Will definitely be back here!

  4. Woohoo!  A new Amity Hall on the UWS!  I remember this place from my NYU days in the village and it looks like they've followed me uptown.  The space here is nicer in my opinion than the original, with the typical steam punky vibe of a craft beer bar.  Bathrooms are unisex with communal sinks with I like believe it or not.  The space is huge, probably more than twice the size of the bottom floor of the original with 2 bars.  There were probably about 30 draft lines with multiple taps for each.  All in all, they're definitely designed the place well.  Service seemed a bit lost, with our waitress disappearing for awhile and the manager stepping in to take our order.  It took quite awhile to get my beer too, but it was freshly poured so they likely just forgot.

My biggest negative here is that the beer list wasn't all that great–for a beer bar at least.  A lot of accessible beers, along with 2 Finbacks and another local beer or 2, but very run-of-the-mill stuff.  That may sound picky but this is a beer bar and I'm a big beer aficionado (the evidence is on here).  With West End Hall around the block, Amity Hall is going to have to step it up.  It is cool they're going to be doing a beer club program though, so there is definitely hope for the future.  I got the Amity Hall Signature Burger, which has a 9oz patty topped with gruyere cheese, crispy shallots, and bacon jam on a pretzel bun.  It was definitely a good burger but was a bit more well done than the medium rare I asked for.  The bacon jam was strange to me but tasty.  Next time I think I'll try the Angry Burger (the name fits me).  My girlfriend got the falafel burger, which I got a bite of and was good as well.

I'm actually moving around the block, so suffice to say I'll be back here soon.  These guys settled into the perfect location, they're veteran restaurateurs, and the place has only been open a few weeks, so they'll definitely get better.  I'll probably end up revising this rating in the next few months.  You know, after I join their beer club.

  5. Visited at Super Bowl night and had a pretty bad experience. Let's start with our conversation with the bouncer when my friend showed her ID (government issued).
Bouncer: I don't like your ID. I need another one.
My friend: What? I used it to all other places and never had a problem.
    B: No I don't like it.
Friend: But I came here just now and you let me in with this ID!?!
    B: I don't care. I don't like it.
Me: Is a passport okay? She lives one block away so we can get that.
    B: Oh, really…

So rude! He thought we were lying and showed no respects! We could not get in just because HE DIDN'T LIKE IT??? We were pissed and almost turned to another bar. But we really wanted to try this place so we went back home to get the passport.

Finally we got in and had the Super Bowl menu, which included unlimited wings and beer. Wings seemed smaller than the regular order and tasted mediocre. Too much sauce and not heated through. Amity light was good. The menu was not worth $30 for some cold wings and beer at all. Service was poor. It was very hard to talk to the bartender.

Well I am giving this place 1 star because I don't like it either 🙂

  6. Big open area great for office gatherings. Not quite the same feel as the downtown location (this one isn't as wild, I suppose that's to be expected given the area), but still just as fun to gather with friends for drinks. Their guac is on FLEEK!

  7. Amity Hall has a good selection of beer with a lot of options on tap. It's a pretty large space. There are two bars on opposite sides and plenty of tables. There was a DJ in one corner. The stools at the bar have backs to them and are pretty comfy. There are also hooks underneath the bar. Some of the tables were labeled 'Reserved.' I didn't even know you could make a reservation here.
It's a great place to watch a game, any game. There are large televisions in every direction, each playing a different game. It's pretty cool, but might be a little difficult to watch the same game with other people in your group.
I appreciate that there's a security guard at the door who checks ID. The food is kind of hit-or-miss, as is the service. Most of the staff is very friendly though they seem a little understaffed sometimes.

    $10 Grilled Jerk Wings:
We were curious to try a different kind of chicken wing. The grilled jerk flavor was spicy, kind of an herbaceous spice. It was pretty strong in taste and smell.

    $10 Classic Buffalo Wings:
I still prefer a classic buffalo flavor. These chicken wings were pretty good. When I brought a wing up to my mouth, I definitely got a good whiff of vinegar. The flavor is very reminiscent of the Frank's sauce that we all know and love.

$14 Amity Signature Burger – gruyere, bacon jam, crispy shallots, with fries:
The burger was not bad. It is better than most bar burgers. I liked the crispy shallots and that the cheese was melted over the patty. I couldn't really taste much of the bacon jam, but it had a very subtle sweetness.

$14 Graduated Grilled Cheese – crispy pork belly, gouda, fontina, mozzarella, fig & red onion jam on sourdough pullman with tomato soup sidekick:
I liked the grilled cheese more than I expected to. There was plenty of cheese with a good amount of pork belly. The tomato soup was on the thick side, which acts as a nice dip for the sandwich.

We got our drinks within few minutes. The food took a little longer, the burger longest of all. Almost an hour went by, so I thought they forgot our burger order. We were about to pay the check when the burger finally arrived. I just had to laugh when it finally showed up, because it was so ridiculous.

Overall, it's a good place to have a beer and some chicken wings. The sandwich options are a little pricey, but tasty enough if you are feeling hungry and aren't in the mood to go somewhere else for a meal. Another plus? There's a large communal sink outside of the bathrooms, so you don't have to wait for the bathroom if you just want to wash your hands. I give it a 7/10, pushing close to a 4/5 for the size and cleanliness of the venue.
