Angela's was the bakery that handled my bridal shower cake.
A massive Dominican cake with Strawberry filling was super affordable and incredibly delicious!
I still cannot believe how amazing the cake was. It was decorated very nicely and made everyone happy. There were several people who requested extra slices of cake! Delicious!
Will definitely be back!!! Highly recommend calling ahead to confirm your cake. Its a busy bakery.
Stop in for a slab of cake for a mere $1.25!
Had cake from here at two separate parties. Neither time was a "wowed". However, I am not a sweets lover. For me the clincher for me is that my sweets loving wife was not enamored.
Angela's Bakery serves Dominican-style cakes and sweet/savory pastries. I have ordered cakes from them several times in the past, mostly because the pricing is very reasonable (a basic 1 pound cake for about 25 people costs $35-40). The one thing they lack, however, is consistency. This lack of consistency is what keeps me from further recommending their services. Their merengue frosting is always delicious, but the texture of the actual cake varies from dry to moist, so you never know exactly what you're going to to get. I can't say I've ever had a particularly bad cake from Angela's, and most have been actually very appetizing. I'm actually struggling to find words to describe this establishment because everything is just "so-so".
Many people like to order cakes from Angela's because they make Dominican cakes with American-style cake decorations. So if you're a fan of Dominican cake flavor, but like a beautifully fashioned fondant cake, you can find what you need at Angela's
I don't recommend their dominican savory pastries (like their empanadas), because they aren't very traditional and they have an unusual taste.
However, I do recommend trying a slice of their Dulce de Leche cake.
My mother swears by these cakes, I'm in the middle about them. I've had the guava, pineapple, and dulce de leche cakes. The dulce de leche, with its creamy topping, is by far my favorite. The creamy layer helps keep the dulce de leche moist. The other flavors are decent, but they dry out quickly.
I've experienced good customer service, but I usually go when it's not busy. We'll keep going here, anything to make mom happy.
omg yum , the dulce de leche cake was so so so good, moist, creamy and fresh, and a generous slice too for a cheap price, everyone needs to try this cake!!!! so soft!
My family orders from them a lot and I never want to eat the birthday cake. This bakery is very popular in the neighborhood but I suspect it's due to proximity because the cakes are disappointing in flavor and in overall execution.
I once ordered a pink cake with black lettering. When I arrived that morning to pick it up, the cake was all black with pink lettering. They barely flinched about the problem they had left me with and gave a fuss about fixing it. They tried hard to convince me to stick with it, as if I didn't order the cake the way I did for a reason. If you try Angela's bakery and like them then all the power to you. However, in my experience they do not offer great service nor a great product. My one compliment would be that they have beautiful business cards.
I'm a huge fan of Dominican cake and this place makes a pretty good one. The prices are cheap $35 for a cake for 20 people or $1.50 a slice
The service is not the best but you have to remember they are usually very busy.
I don't ever go there for the service but for their cakes.
I live in Queens but anytime I need a cake I go to Angela's. Their cakes are so worth the trip. I've ordered cakes for Christmas, Thanksgiving, baby showers, parties, etc. The people who work here are always friendly and helpful and they make sure I get exactly what I want. Some Dominican bakeries treat you like crap if you aren't Latino and don't speak Spanish. That hasn't been the case with Angela's and that's why they'll always get my business. My favorite flavors are tres leches with the milky sauce covering it (yes I lick my plate when I'm done. no shame in my game) and the guava filling, but everything they do is delicious!! Their prices also can't be beat.
