When I think of Staten Island I think of the Island of misfit toys. I was very skeptical about this place when my mom told me she booked it for my grandma's surprise party, however this place is absolutely adorable and I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was absolutely perfect from the food to the service. Water cups were never empty and the pitchers of mimosas kept flowing. Our chief complaint was that it was a bit over priced but other than that we really can't complain. The place overlooks the water and is well-kept. I peeked into the kitchen and it appeared to be well-kept and clean. I can't speak for the actual restaurant itself since we hosted a brunch party, but I definitely plan on going back of dinner given the positive experience we had.
My husband and I ate here last September and we loved it. The food was delicious and the restaurant -both inside and out- is gorgeous. I really liked the chandeliers that hung from the trees beside the building – a very nice touch. You really feel as though you are somewhere else in this charming place that sits right on the water. It is one of the most romantic places to go on the island.
I went in mid May and absolutely loved it. The restaurant itself is beautiful, very romantic, classy, and breathtaking. My type of place 🙂 I also loved that it's right on the Hudson River and jet skies & boats were driving past, definitely worth checking out just for that experience. We sat inside because it was a bit chilly out but the view from the tables and lounge chairs outside was stunning. I could definitely see this place being absolutely perfect for a wedding.
Moving onto the food. We told the waiter to throw in some apps for us and he brought us buffalo mozzarella, shrimps and stuffed claims, and a goat cheese and frisee salad. Everything was delicious. Then we had a first course which consisted of two pastas. One pasta was with smoked salmon and the other pasta was whole grain pasta stuffed with goat cheese and pears. OMG. The waiter said it wasn't even on the menu. So amazing! For our second course we ordered rack of lamb, pork chops, and fish. I don't eat red meat but OMG they bought over the biggest slab of meat I have ever seen! My fish was very tasty. I thought the service was great too. Very attentive and accommodating. Wine menu was definitely up to par, as well. They definitely put on a 5 star show here and you can easily understand why the prices are as high as they are.
While I was there they had a DJ and singers and everyone got up and danced. I'm not a huge fan of this whole ordeal. (I thought it was a tad bit tacky, but that's only my opinion). Personally, I would rather just go to a restaurant and just eat, but if I was with a group of girls for a night out, I gather it would be fun.
Wonderful experience. I don't live in Staten Island, so it was a bit of a drive for me, but if I lived in the area, I would definitely consider going back, especially in the summer time, even if it was only for a drink or two, just to sit outside and stare at the boats in the Hudson.
Before the gorgeous building with manicured grounds and nestled on the water, Angelina's was located in a tiny Annadale strip mall. I was first introduced to Angelina's by Vera who best described this gem of a spot in the middle of nowhere as "Manhattan on Staten Island.'
The best part of Angelina's is Angelina herself. She welcomes guests and scans the rooms to ensure that all is flowing as it should. Service has improved and the food is–as a recent candidate for president likes to day–terrific.
Since I barely remember what I had for breakfast and I'm writing this review at 7:43am, I can't recall what I ordered on my last visit. I do recall that I ordered strictly from the specials. And, I made a mental note that I very much enjoyed the food. WIne prices were reasonable and the bartenders were fantastic. So Vera Angelina's is not Manhattan on Staten Island; Angelina's is Staten Island in Manhattan.
I came here for a bridal party and it was the perfect weather and time. The bridal party took place in this really huge nice glass event room in the back of the restaurant over looking the water and it was really nice, they had mini chandeliers in hanging and white curtains and tables and a bar that was covered in mirrors. The party theme was so nice and it was just comfortable and lots of room and area to dance in.
We had a 3 course meal which included salad, mozzarella and tomato with basil, then a nice pasta bowl and you had a choice of entree from veal, salmon, chicken and tilapia. I ordered the chicken stuffed with spinach, mozzarella, and sun dried tomato it was really good but just small. So its not really like your going to get filled up but you will get a bite out of everything. The waiters were really good and kept serving us drinks and whatever we needed.
I got to see the inside of the restaurant and it was really nice inside and romantic and I would def. wanna come back and try out some other foods and drinks too.
I also enjoyed the peach sangria which was really good & I heard they have good sangria too.
Theres an outside area where you can hang out in cute tents and couches and enjoy the view and weather which I really liked too.
I think this place is great to have a nice small party at and with the great weather too it will work out so nice and I feel everyone would have a good time also and enjoy the view and food. Its pricey but if you like the food then its worth it.
Angelina's wants to be in Manhattan. It's probably a great place for all the people in SI who don't want to leave but still want to be in a fancy pants spot. Entrees run between $30-50…and up! The food is high quality, well done and creative, It is a pretty place, everything is done with careful detail, so if you can pay for it, then enjoy the experience, clearly you will be catered too.
I have been here twice, both for parties so I was able to enjoy the food without the wallet crunch. Their tricolor salad is delicious and they have a huge page of specials, in addition to an equally huge menu. I had an amazing homemade fettucini with truffle cream sauce and shrimp (around $38) They also have a pretty good sangria filled with fruit. It's three levels and they have a big backyard tented space, and the sideyard is complete with outdoor chandeliers hanging from the trees. It doesn't get more Staten Island than this!
We visit Angelina's once a year as part of a charity car show. The lunch on the veranda is usually the highlight of the day. They start you off with a plate of very good Parmesan cheese chunks. Also on the table, a basket of mixed bread items. – no butter or olive oil. Instead, they bring a plate of eggplant garnish.
I always have the penne with vodka sauce and shrimp. The reason is simple, the pasta is always perfectly cooked, the shrimp fresh and done properly, the sauce well spiced. Yesterday, I added the tri-colored salad – fresh greens served on a chilled plate and dressed with good olive oil and rich balsamic vinegar. For dessert, I asked our waiter for a suggestion and he offered the tiramisu as his favorite. It was the best I have ever had. Period!
This could easily be a 5 star review based just on the salad, main dishes and dessert. However, there were a few minor glitches that should be noted.
The bread was ordinary and pre cut long enough before being served to be a little dried out. Service was spotty (possibly because of the large crowd at the car show). For example , my salad didn't arrive until I reminded the waiter. Finally, the prices were a little steep – $60 per person (tip included) with no alcohol and only one dessert.
Having said that, the food is very good and if we had the ability to do half stars, I would make this 4 1/2 stars.
Recommended.
I have been here maybe 5 times. I must say tonight topped them all. It's a place where it's a requirement you do push-ups and tan before you strut in. Then as a male you must pop your collar and stand all night with your arms crossed appearing to be cool. Women need to borrow their little sisters clothing or just shop in the juniors section. Also, ladies don't forget the heels because they are clearly appropriate for the grass you'll be standing on as you drink your martini. So besides epitomizing every stereotype Staten Islanders have, it's a nice spot (ESP if you enjoy people watching). Tonight we ate on the patio. It's a great location on the water. To begin they serve you cheese. The menu ranges from $25-$100. Tonight they offered truffles dishes for over $100. To begin I had the Caesar salad. They make it in front of you. Believe it or not they put raw egg in it (didn't know that's allowed-health codes?). I wished the man preparing it had gloves on because the egg that went into our salad touched his hands. If you like mustard and are not pregnant, I recommend the salad. I had the squid ink pasta. It was good, but they cut up the scallops and shrimp. Service started out very slow but improved as the night went on. So after all that being said, I'll still go back probably once a year because food and drinks are pretty good and besides that I like a good spot to people watch.
