I really thought this place had potential. I'm not sure if it's the unfriendly lady taking names or the overall atmosphere that made me want to run. I'm not even a runner and I finally felt inspired.
The menu is basic diner food. I ordered a tuna melt. It was huge with globs of cheese.
Our waitress was nice but overwhelmed.
Definitely not my cup of tea.
it's a diner! yes, the glorious salvation for your late morning hunger pangs beckons.
my cousin informed me that a bunch of the diners on Staten Island have taken to renovating and/or moving into larger, more upscale digs. it's a standard diner menu, but there's a party room, a bar, and more. the cold war of all-encompassing-eating has escalated. PREPARE FOR HUNGER EXTERMINATION.
so onwards we went to Annadale, about 5 minutes from where my cousin lives.
the gyro omelet was gloriously decadent and filling. enjoyed the potatoes, toast, and splurged on some pineapple juice. pretty good coffee too. I'm a big fan of breakfast food done right, so I was happy.
a little more costly than your usual diner, but the place was clean, service was quick, and portions are hearty, so it was worth it for me.
It's a bit overrated. I always liked the Annadale diner, but since they renovated, I've been here twice. The service has gone down immensely. Pretty slow service, food is okay and it's always crowded, so expect to wait. The parking lot is still tight. There is a party room for private events.I'm a little disappointed with the new place.
I love the new renovations here. REALLY nice and such a super up-do from the old Annadale Diner. They actually now have an outside area to eat with nice patio furniture and umbrellas and also a room upstairs you can cater and rent to have a party holding up to 100+ people. I really enjoyed walking in and seeing how nice this place is…
Food is okay though, typical diner food and they do offer a wine list now and some extras. I had me a salad that had like cut up pineapple, arugula, goat cheese, and balsamic dressing on it and it was okay but wish they would dress the salad more especially with arugula salad its like so dry and boring if its not seasoned in nice dressing. I also had coffee which was pretty warm and tasted burnt but I just put it to the side. I had me cheesecake and it was really soft like mushy type I didn't taste any graham cracker on the bottom so I wasn't happy about that cause I do love my sweets especially after having a meal.
I would come back to this place and possibly try something else and new and hopefully change how I felt this time around but the prices have gone up too cause between two people with just a basic entree and dessert it cost us almost $50. I think I will try it when the weather is nicer and enjoy the outside dining.
I have been here a couple of times and always thought the food was mediocre. I think they made this place too fancy inside for what is being served on the plate if you ask me. I most recently came here for a bridal shower and lets just say they should not be hosting any sort of events here PERIOD! The room was very tight and we could barely pass in between the tables (6 round tables total). Once I finally was able to get to my seat they just put two bottles of wine and a pitcher of water with no ice and we had to serve ourselves. With a place this nice the servers should have come around and served us. When the appetizers came they were on two trays (per table) and they must have been the heaviest plates. We had to again pass the food around the table, which would not have been a problem if the plates had not been so heavy. Then the salad was served, which was served soggy and with way too much cheese. There was more cheese then lettuce. The sever then came around and asked everyone what they wanted to eat. When he described the dishes he had to refer to his notepad and even when someone asked a question he was still clueless. He also said the dishes were served with asparagus and broccoli came out. I chose the steak dish because I couldn't understand what he was trying to say about the other dishes so I figured I couldn't go wrong with steak. When the dish arrived this is what I saw wrong before even cutting into my steak…it was garnished with an orange slice (this wasn't a breakfast dish and totally did not belong on the plate), it was also garnished with dried/burnt parsley (really you can't throw some fresh parsley on there?), the sauce on the steak was broken (don't put a sauce on a dish if you cant execute it), I got two giant pieces of broccoli bigger then my face (not asparagus as the server described). Then I cut into the steak and it must have just been slice off the cow it was so raw. The potatoes were under cooked and cold and bland! I could not even eat this dish. Once I cut into the steak I did not even want to touch it. The serve never came by to ask how the dishes came out. Bottom line is the service was horrible, the food was horrible. Just sad to see a place so nice with great decor and the food and service be less then average.
When Annadale Terrace opened after the beloved Annadale Diner closed, I was extremely disappointed with the service and the food. But my latest experience was much better.
Our server was very friendly and prompt, the food was very good. I like that my coffee cup was always getting filled, and the ice water was served in glass instead of plastic and had no funny tap taste.
Four stars only because there weren't enough umbrellas in the outdoor area and I got sunburned!
I grew up in Annadale and spend majority of my childhood and young adulthood here. I have been coming here since I was young, the original diner next door. Annadale terrace opened within the last year as a more upscale diner with two floors, modern decor and outdoor ground space as well as balcony overlooking the garden and outdoor space. We had made a 11am reservation for 8 and were seated about 5-7 minutes after arriving. I ordered fried eggs with cheddar, bacon and hash brown. My sister got a feta egg white spinach omelette. The rest of the family had various variations of omelette and my niece had silver dollar pancakes.
My eggs were good, but more on the over easy than medium side, bacon was excellent and crispy. And rye toast was good. Hash brown could've been crispier. My sister loved her omelette and the silver dollar pancakes were light and fluffy. They also gave us a fruit platter on the house. 9 entrees + beverages for $95. Not bad! Definitely our go to diner when we're in town visiting fam!
I recently moved to the area so I have no basis for comparison as to the old diner it used to be, and I haven't eaten in the restaurant, only ordered over the phone for pick up. It looked oddly busy for a random Wednesday night which I took to be a good sign. I placed a moderately large order for 3 different entrees, and several appetizers over the phone with no issue, the girl who took the order was really nice which surprised me because I was expecting a witch based on the previous reviews. I was shocked that they didn't mess anything up or forget anything, a common occurrence when ordering take out or delivery. The chicken parmigiana was actually pretty good. I liked the sauce, it was a little sweet but I like that. The monte cristo sandwich was delicious also, although it annoyed me that it didn't come with fries. The appetizer platter could be a little more generous but what was there was good. You can't escape a diner without paying 40 bucks for 2 people in my experience, so I expect that a diner that is not a dump will be a little pricey. II will definitely be ordering from here again.
