I haven't tried their restaurant inside yet but I can't tell you how happy I am to live only a few blocks away from here.
I ordered sushi for lunch on a really bad, cranky, craving day…I call this PMMS (Please Make Me Sushi)
Their lunch special was plenty, I ordered the sushi platter, which came with 5 pieces of sushi and a cali roll. Everything was fresh and they do add wasabi to under the fish and rice so FYI.
It also came with miso soup and a side salad, very very good dressing, reminds me of my old job at edo's in westchester where the ginger dressing is hearty and homemade! LOVE IT.
I also wanted to try their uni, although I'm such a snob about uni and I had bad experiences twice with eating it, so I was a little sketchy..I ordered one piece to try it and it was super fresh, check out my uni pic, sorry peeps, I picked on it first lol I couldn't resist. You can still see the detail to it, super fresh and sweet!! I loved it!!! And one piece is $5, not bad. I've had it for more money and I spit it out.
Also if you order delivery it came super fast!
Four stars for service. Otherwise 3. Miso soup was good, but just miso soup. Japanese pickled vegetables were so-so. Beef negamaki appetizer was average. Meat was tender though. Wild white king salmon sashimi was not as good as I thought it would be and Scottish salmon sashimi had some tough spots. Salmon skin hand roll was chock full of salmon! Chicken teriyaki was good but nothing special. Place is minimalist and cute.
The sushi is fresh and very clean. The ambiance in here is relaxing and modern. The staff was polite and the service was super fast! I had the Seared Tuna Roll and I loved it. Will be going back and definitely recommend.
I'm sorry. I wanted to like it, but the ramen tasted like it came out of a bag, as did the gyoza. The sashimi combo was strictly OK, but some of the pieces, including the tuna and yellowtail, weren't well-thawed. Sashimi should never have the texture a freaking apple slice!
I'm not sure what people who are dropping 5's here are thinking. I know they're definitely smoking… something.
I was meeting some friends in Riverdale. We were trying to decide on a neighborhood place to have dinner, and I saw this restaurant on a Yelp list of top ten restaurants in Riverdale. I am glad to confirm that the good reviews are pretty much spot on.
It took us a while to get there, and we were pressed for time. We told this to the waitress, who said, "No problem." The service was quick and efficient. I wish I had asked the waitress for her name, because she was very nice.
My friend got a veggie udon which looked great, and, according to her, tasted as great as it looked. I ordered a salad and sashimi. The salad was decent. The sashimi was wonderfully presented. It looked too beautiful to eat, but I did. The fish was fresh and delicious.
The place is a bit narrow, but not cramped. The décor is nice, and you get to see the sushi chefs do their work.
The prices, while a bit cheaper than in Manhattan, were pretty much on par with other Japanese restaurants.
If you are driving into Riverdale, just a warning: the parking situation is not great. It took us a while to find a spot, and the main streets have metered parking. In a way we were lucky that it took a while, because we parked only a short bit before 7 PM, so we really didn't need to feed the meter that much.
So, if you find yourself in Riverdale and are searching for a nice place to eat, definitely check out Aoyu Sushi!!!
I am definitely a fan. My Bff and I get take out all the time. The food is consistently good. would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good clean Japanese food. They deliver as long as your total is over their minimum. The delivery time is pretty fair yet we live around the corner from them.
This place is good for sit in lunch or dinner or take out. They have delicious miso soup, teriyaki chicken, & sushi rolls. I typically order the pink lady. Which has a little bit of a spicy kick which I love. I also order their edemame which are lightly salted and fresh. I have been eating here for the past two years and I can say very few times have I had complaints.
Aoyu Sushi definitely hit the spot and quenched my insatiable thirst for good sushi. I usually don't go to the Bronx for food, but I found Aoyu while casually strolling through the area. The restaurant sits on a cute block with other dining establishments. I went to Aoyu with a large group that they quickly accommodated. The restaurant is very clean and has quick service. I orders three vegetarian rolls that tasted crisp and fresh. Everyone raved about how good their meals were.
I had organized a group outing to Wave Hill on a Saturday morning and we didn't realize it was that small, so after 2 hours we were done and what's a good activity for group of Asians? why, eating of course!
Trusty yelp gave us this sushi restaurant at ~1mile away, so I called and confirmed that they can accommodate all 11 of us and after the woman checked with someone, we were confirmed for 12:30!
We got there and found free on-street parking (not metered) about 2 blocks away, and were seated immediately! YAY~~ AC and ice cold water felt so good after walking under sun in a park for 2 hours.
We were delighted to find that the lunch menu is available on Sunday and most of us got the chirashi bowl $15 and some got other items from the extensive lunch menu. Lunch comes with soup AND salad. YES, both! The salad was a healthy portion too. The food arrived quickly and the chirashi bowl was filled with 10 slices of various sashimi (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc) and 2 shisho leaf and ginger and radish strings. The fish was fresh and relatively thick and rice was warm. Friend got the sushi and sashimi mix and that looked really good too but was a bit more expensive.
We were quite loud since we haven't seen each other in a while but the restaurant was completely fine. I can't remember if the water was refilled but i might have been very focused on the food.
Didn't have any desserts, so can't comment.
Restaurant was bright and clean and although the restaurant looked small, it was spacious enough for us not to feel cramped. Definitely would go back if i was in the area again.
