I am not sure why this Applebees has gotten such low reviews.  I actually liked it and thought the food was pretty decent, as was the service, even at around midnight on a Friday night.

We ordered the chicken fried chicken, which came with country gravy and mashed potatoes, and the cajun jambalaya pasta.  The cajun jambalaya pasta was decent, though it wasn't quite like the cajun jambalaya that I've had previously.  It was somehow not spicy enough and the sauce wasn't as immersed into the pasta.  Still, it was tasty and a good meal.

We also got drinks – specifically, a strawberry margarita and a mojito.  The drinks were good and came in big glasses, but still were not worth $10 each…

All in all, the prices are too steep at this restaurant.  The quality of the food isn't high end but the prices we were charged would suggest that the food is actually high end.  I am giving this place 3 stars, instead of 4, mostly for the very high prices.

Every time I've been here, service has always been extremely slow. They're way too expensive for what they have to offer. The very limited vegetarian options (and almost non-existant vegan options) they have aren't great. I've only been in here because I was with groups of people too afraid to try anything different from what they were used to. I'd be happy if I never set foot in here again.

Your typical Applebee's located in the Bay Terrace Shopping center. I do like the North Queens-centric decorations, with of course, a focus on Bayside itself. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was well cooked and flavorful. Their beer selection is a bit short, but adequate. Good coverage by televisions for most of the seating.

I used to really like this Applebees but the food has gotten worse over the years. Last few times I came here, the food tasted too generic.

Not bad, not bad, not bad at all.

This is a nice place to dine in after shopping around Bay Terrace!  The service was decent.  The ambiance was decent.  The food was decent.  My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Tenders Platter and I was in the mood for salad so I ordered the NEW Bruschetta Topped Chicken Salad.

    Please see the descriptions below:

    [  [  Chicken Tenders Platter $11.99  ]  ]
Tender, juicy, breaded and downright delicious. Honey Dijon mustard makes it even better. Served with fries and cole slaw.

    [  [  NEW Bruschetta Topped Chicken Salad $10.99  ]  ]
Grilled chicken breast served on a bed of crisp romaine tossed with champagne vinaigrette and topped with bruschetta, juicy tomatoes, red onions, kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, basil and garlic. Sprinkled with Asiago cheese, golden-fried mozzarella scoops and finished with a balsamic glaze.

Lawwwwd, LET. ME. TELL. YOU!!!  I was hungry this day and didn't want to spend too much, so I REGRETFULLY decided to come here for dinner.

I had good memories coming here as a teenager with all my friends.  I thought I'd have the same experience since I hadn't been back in YEARS.  So, okay, I come in for dinner and it was like what I remembered.

We get seated, next to a 40 inch flat screen tv (which I didn't quite notice until I took a bite out of my entree) that had some rodeo show on it.  Remember this as you're reading the rest of this review.

    This is what we ordered…

    App:
    –  Boneless chicken wings with the spicy-sweet Asian chile
    –  Spinach and artichoke dip with hand-cut tortilla chips

Both of these were good.  But nothing spectacular.

    Entree:
    –  Bourbon Street Steak – A juicy, tender 9 oz. steak jazzed up with Cajun spices. Served with sauteed onions & mushrooms and crispy red potatoes.  I subbed the potatoes for mash.
    – Shrimp & Parmesan Sirloin – Succulent grilled shrimp, white wine scampi sauce and rich Italian cheeses top our juicy 9 oz. House Sirloin. Served with seasonal vegetables and your choice of garlic mashed potatoes or baked potato.

We get the app…and it's fine.  All is good.  I get my steak, and couldn't wait to eat it.  The first bite FELT weird, but I proceeded to take another bite…there was a hard, fatty thing that I couldn't bite through.  It felt like a cartilage of some sort.  I spit that out and continued on…I went in further and realized my steak was over cooked.  I'm not a pain in the ass customer, nor do I nit-pick everything…I'm not a brat customer.  A little mistake like over cooking my meat is nothing that'll piss me off, I'll still eat it without complaining to the server.

I go on, and I'm just not having a great time.  I look up…and I see the rodeo show going on where a cowboy lassos a rope around a cow and wrestles them down.  That happens throughout the show.  At this point not only do I feel bad…but I'm actually disgusted, and I place my fork down and stopped eating.  I forced myself to TRY to take another bite…and I physically felt sick to my stomach.  My BF told me that his steak didn't taste or feel right either…so it wasn't just me.

After this evening, I gave up eating beef for a little while.  That dish was NOT good.  The apps were good, but I think that's the best this kind of place will do.  This place is for kids to hangout and feel like adults.  But for a foodie like me…I can't.  If I don't want to spend money, I'd rather hit up a Wendy's, White Castle or McDonald's.

I'd usually get a desert so I can give a fair rating…but I was too sick to want it.  I just needed to bounce!!  I eat anything…so this can't be good, ya'll!

Just an FYI, The food didn't make me sick…it was the way it was made that me gag. I didn't expect to bite into hard fat or cartilage. The rodeo show didn't help either.

Redeemed my Birthday Free 3 course meal and drink tonight with the company of my dad. I always request a booth because I like the cushioned seats. Me and my dad were greeted by our server Ryan O. He was very suggestive and knowledge of the menu/drinks which was indeed a plus for me. I knew that Applebee's had a lot of new dishes added to their menu and Ryan O. was nice to bring over a menu of the new additions so I can review it. He was very attentive and friendly personality always checking-in to see if our food was good and how we enjoy it.

Drink: Blackberry Sangria…oh wow, Ryan O. was right that its very yummy and easy to drink

Appetizer: Sriracha Shrimp *safe for me to eat no peanuts in this dish…pheewww* omg it was soooo yummy bedded on these crispy wonton wrappers I believe

Entree: Full Rack of Smoky Chipotle Ribs…omg very delicious and *pat, pat* for choosing this delicious sauce mmmmmmm

Dessert: Apple Chimi Cheesecake…damn it was huge and thank god my dad helped me eat it…very delicious as well

Thank you for your excellent service because it makes me actually want to come back more besides getting my free birthday coupon every year! Make sure he's there when you are dining in…*hands down amazing*!

I came here for a healthy lunch alternative. Our server Adam was polite but disappeared a lot. He was all over the place working tables all over the restaurant. There was barely anyone here so I'm not sure what took him so long to come to our table.

I enjoyed half a Turkey, Bacon & Avocado Sandwich with a small Tortilla Soup. It filled me up & then some. The choose "any two combos" are great. Such healthy & low caloric options to choose from. I didn't feel deprived with the meal I had.
